those videos are awesome. that triple/double kill/killing spree thing with the power drainer was the sickest thing ive seen seen the triple spartan laser kill. blue team got owned:lol :lol funniest part was when homeboy sat in the corner with the shotgun and popped every blue member that dropped in fron him:lol :lol haha classic!

How much RP you got Overheat, I hit 250 last night and according to some post in here that was Commander,but I didn't go up, still a Major.
 
Well, I guess the better question would have been what RP did you hit Commander at :lol 250/highest level 46, I figured I had it in the bag!
 
Team lost 5 games in a row. Came in last for both teams every time. Went down one level.

Won the next two games. Came in last for both teams every time. Went up two levels.

Well Teamplay is the key, control of the power weapons is important ( Sniper, Laser etc).

BR and Carbine are your best friend at mid-range. In close combat I love doing a melee and right after a quick shot of BR to the head.

Learn when to rush and when to camp.

hmm nice never would have thought. so i guess i need to learn how to use the covenant carbine, along with th AR. does that sound about right?:)

AR for close combat is good but be sneaky :lol


Covenant carbine is better then the Battle rifle in H3 by the way

sweet thanks man. ive hit a plateau and i know i can do better. guess i will just have to suck it up and use the carbine even though i think its cheap:lol
 
I just went up another level.

I haven't been anything but last for hours.

Can someone suggest a strategy for getting back to people of my own ability in Team Skirmish? I love this mode, but this shit's ridiculous.
 
I had no problem going down levels when I sucked in team slayer a few nights ago. 3 levels total, and 2 were from ONE game.

The most important thing is to be on the losing team, because if you're on the winning team, your level increases even if you're terrible. I would suggest hogging the good weapons and/or team killing

I think it's been two days since I actually "played" a game. I sign on and watch some videos here and there but haven't played in a while. Halo 3 just isn't as appealing without a team to go in with, a competent one at least.

I think the only thing you can do is play with teammates closer to your skill level.

Or quit over and over again :P
 
So in other words, in order to get some enjoyment out of this game (I was -20 in one of these matches I'm talking about) I have to be a dick and do everything Bungie doesn't want me to, or give up my favorite mode. Awesome.

One thing to remember is that you aren't the only one going up in level. Right now, almost everyone is moving up in level, until the level spread is more even and accurate. Even though you are going up fast right now, pretty soon your movement will settle, as will the levels of most folks. In a perfect world, you will eventually win percisely 50% of your games, with all the matches being heart-strainingly tight. While the world isn't perfect, the more you and everyone else play, the more you should move towards that goal.

Plus, sometimes, taking a bullet can help your team more than getting a kill. You can get the least kills on your team, and still be effective, by being at the right place at the right time.
 
Finally got above 1 k/d ratio :D

Still having fun with the beta, although ever since i got to sergeant rank (i think), which is still quite low, i keep getting put with all these much better players. I guess its difficult to group people properly this early on, but it would be nice to play more people like me who are new to halo mp, rather than halo 2 veterans :P

Worse than that is the amount of times i keep seeing the host quit (i assume this is whats going on) and everyone gets sent to the score/loading screen for 2-3 minutes, and then they get kicked to the lobby (at least it always does to me and a mate), ruining many fun matches. Tonight alone it has happened like 5 times in 12 games and it is starting to get pretty damn annoying. I know its still beta but i don't see why this can't be dealt with in a different way, i hate sitting on a loading screen for 3 minutes just to end up in the lobby every time, i might as well just switch off my 360 and load the game back up when it happens.

Edit: Surprisingly, i pretty much just play BTB now, i thought it would be too many people and too laggy, but the amount seems perfect and the lag doesn't occur often, it's great :D
 
I got out of Valhalla today and took the banshee out of the atmosphere. Anyone who wants to see can look at my file share. I couldn't find the ceiling however, so I just jumped out and fell for about a minute before hitting the ground.

I feel your pain. I've been getting dominated ever since I hit 20, and I've hit 30 since then. Their formula is totally broken. The only time I've gone down is if I'm rated better than every one else and I come in dead last. Yet I can come in 5th with a couple people higher than me and go up two skill ratings. This whole skill rating/matching thing is a nice idea, but people have to be able to drop as easily as they go up or it doesn't work. I've been playing a couple nights now of almost straight horrendous defeats but it won't bump me down.

All my problems are with the rumble pit though. I imagine it's even worse for team stuff, since you might get carried through a match by a good team. I don't have to worry about being dead last, but on the winning team.

Oh, one other thing. My internet connection can be a little bit difficult, and it's dropped out on me in two matches now. Do I get lumped in with quitters and punished when that happens?

I was just in a Team Slayer match and two of my team quit. Then one of their guys quit, and finally my last teammate. So it was 1vs3 for about 6 minutes. I killed various members of their team 3 or 4 in a row with these odds but when they finally killed me they still had the nerve to teabag my corpse. :lol

Teabagging is x10 fun during or just after a losing streak.
 
Got two Rumble Pit games in, and during my third...****ing 360 froze again. I don't know what's going on. It only occurs in Halo 3 and Halo 2. I'm starting to think that maybe it's something to do with reading data from my Hard-Drive. Like it only freezes when I'm playing maps that I've downloaded or something. But that's just a wild guess.

I gave out my first teabag today. Some dude was camping on top of the big rocket launcher looking thing inside the base on High Ground. I took him out and gave him the goods. It felt great. :)


Where do you open the gate on High Ground? I've played more than 100 rounds and I've never been the one to open the thing. Where is the button?
 
Encountered cheating for the first time today. There seems to be a glitch with the water in Valhalla where the VIP can go to hide so that bullets won't do any harm.

blue screen up the first set of stairs on the left side before you go to the turret
 
Chittagong's post reminds me of an Oddbal match I had.
On Highground the ball holder was running out to sea, when he was killed the ball went behind the invisible wall and couldn't be picked up.

Ha - it took me FOREVER to find it.

On offense, go into the base through the bunker on the left (there's a hatch you can open from above, or go in the broken open corner. Take a left up the ramps once inside, and then another left in the room up above for the switch.

Easier explanation, instead of going up the stairs to the Spartan Laser, turn right and follow the catwalk - the switch is a few feet that way - on the catwalk, overlooking the courtyard.

I just got a triple kill! :D They were all just standing there. :lol At first it looked like a quadruple kill, but one of them must have been killed by a team mate, because I didn't get the quadruple kill medal.

I wish CTF was more like Halo 2. (ie flag carrier moving slower, contestion, flag throwing and returns being timer based) also don't like the look of the new flags either :s

koth/oddball interface requests -> using time as in mm:ss instead of just a number. as well as fixing the blue/red indicators to be for what team has posession. (like in halo 2 <3)

I hope that halo 3 will have both the current territories and the old halo 2 territories flavours.

annnd more visual and aural notification that you are getting shot and your shields are goiinnnn down. it was more fun the way halo 2 handled it.

ummm fixing the banshee to shoot downwards. It's only a killing machine in the right hands... just like every other weapon or vehicle. I suck with the banshee but other are people are good with it. on the other hand, I can dominate a banshee driver fairly easily thanks to my fairly good aim with sticky grenades.

oh and making the mongoose faster!

I approve of these suggestions.
 
I don't mind the lack of flag throwing, for the most part it is obnoxious. Sudden death should really be more of a sudden death situation and not just overtime. It sucks when you are 5 meters away from the capture point and the round ends. It should be as soon as time expires if the flag is at its base the round ends, if it is out it ends the moment it is no longer contested. None of that 5 second bunny-hopping mantrain of corpses bull.
