I would hope not..

None of us used modded consoles to do it. I just joined a custom game in progress, then quit and started my own. Then people joined my games and presumably quit and made their own.

Bungie said they wanted you to try and exploit every glitch possible and it's not like you modded your console or the Halo 3 Beta data or whatever. I really don't understand why people are making excuses.
 
I just saw a pic of the Brute Chopper and customisable armours.

Along with the exploited custom games I feel that this beta is going to turn out to be like a drop in the proverbial Halo 3 ocean!

I believe it makes the leading team weaker and the team that's behind (the underdogs) stronger (so they always have a chance to come from behind and win the match). There's a bit more to it then that, but I forget what the description said. I know some of the underdogs had an overshield in the game I played, but maybe the host tweaked that option instead of it being a default thing.
 
I just want to say that I will not glitch the beta into playing parts of the game that I wasn't meant to play. I respect Bungie.


I do feel sad that I can't play the beta anymore, cause I won't be home again till long after the beta has ended.
 
Maybe Bungie left the custom games in the beta to enable for the last week/days? By now they should have collected enough MM data, and could offer a special surprise gift to Beta players? Just a thought.

Not true, that is just a modified boxer profile. You can hit Y to drop your second weapon when using boxer and the same would apply for that custom setup.
 
It's weird that the glitch to get into custom games wasn't caught earlier, or by bungie before release. Some of the settings apparently don't work, so I'm thinking this wasn't something they were going to open up before the beta (unless they did an update that fixed them, who knows). I won't join any custom games because I don't want to find something or a mode that's really cool, then have it not be in the final or be different.

If they don't want people doing it I imagine they can patch it pretty easily.
 
Played BTB for the first time last night, and while it all had a ton of potential, what we actually played was a laggy mess. The first game, we had two guys who never joined the game, and two more quit right away [b/c it was 6 v 4?], so it was 6 v 2 on Valhalla. The second game, I had so much lag that guys were skipping around the screen in 10 foot intervals. It was just a mess.

No doubt others have already brought this up, but I just wanted to vent a little.

I'm sure they knew that there was a danger that glitches and hacks could be exploited. They asked everyone to "BREAK" the game. It is a Beta afterall.
 
That GamePro info got me all hot and bothered... it's really going to be hard to play anything else once it comes out... oh so sweet...

And wow, it really looks like the Custom Games thing has spread around pretty quick seeing as someone on my friends list is playing in one right now - I won't be joining him though...
 
My first impressions of Halo 3 (beta) were that it had decent (but by no means outstanding) graphics, great gameplay, and small maps.

I dunno about the rest of you... but I want XXXL maps and loads of players. I'll still most likely purchase the game when it's released... but I truly had high expectations for this iteration and I do not feel that they will be met. Perhaps I have my sights set too high?

No huge battles for you. The game is gonna be 16 players max. Even those are going to be lag parties.

Anyone else having people just joining games but doing nothing? I had a team rockets (blasting off again!) on Vallhalla and two of my teammates were just sitting there. I can't believe we only lost by 8, considering the other team had a free double kill every time they found them. Also, team rockets on valhalla = fun! Nothings more satisfying then jumping in the air on a mancannon and shooting rockets down onto your opponent.

And there is no reason you'd pick up a pistol over an AR. Just none really.

As a dual wield, the rate of fire prevents it from being of any use. And dual pistols are so innacurate, its just as I said.... pointless.

Every other weapon had purpose, but the pistol.

But, this is beta, and I trust bungie, and honestly, I hope the pistol is just completely removed as to shut up the halo 1 enthusiasts entirely.

you're using it wrong, and it shows. keep at it though...you'll figure it out. The pistol is best when dual wielded and should be used as a "finisher". I had a hard time using it w/ an SMG because the SMG's recoil was messing w/ my ability to land "finishing" headshots w/ the pistol, but the pistol and spiker is an amazing combo. Don't start shooting the pistol until at least half of your spiker clip is gone, then take a few steady controlled "finishing" headshots w/ the pistol to finish your target. Works like a charm. It would probably work fairly well with a plasma rifle too, and obviously if you can land a charged shot w/ the plasma pistol then you can finish with the pistol, but i find the charged shot to be pretty unreliable (which is a good thing).
 
Man, I've become so jealous reading about this stuff from work. I love to tinker around more than actual matches. I've only had my system since March, and haven't been able to build up a friends list big enough to pull off the trick for the custom games lobby. If anyone wants to friend me or send me an invite so I can get in on this mayhem when I get home later today, I'd be very appreciative.

Hey man I'm with you. I've put a blackout on all content that isn't readily available through normal channels. Bungie updates, mag previews etc.
Sucks that I've been so busy this past week that I haven't been able to play any Halo3. I jumped on for a couple of games on Sunday and I'm already in need of some tuneup time.

Ror is a LT? Wow I do need to play more. :)
 
Alright, since Uno Ill Nino hasn't posted this yet, I post it for him.

I was talking to him on the phone this morning and he told me that he got into a game with seven other players named ST Williams 01, ST Williams 02..........ST Williams 07. He said that they really sucked, but would turn it on every once in a while.

The names being like they are, their abilities, and the fact that none of them had mics lead him to think he was somehow playing a game against bots. Could he have somehow opened up a custom game against bots?

Thats silly, dual spikers steam rolls over spiker/pistol. As does nearly every other dual combo I could think of, minus dual plasma pistols. Your just better off picking up any other weapon single/dual wielded than the current pistol.

Spiker requires you to lead your target a little bit, totally unlike the pistol, which requires deadly accuracy. Maybe you need to spend some more time with a spiker.

So don't tell me its best paired with a spiker. I'd have dusted you off with dual spikers long before you'd gotten a chance to take those last few finishing shots.
And I used the pistol plenty in Halo2, it was a killer dual, its just been nerfed to much.
I'm pretty confident that the reason the pistol is not in Halo3Beta is because its just not there yet. I don't think we were meant to play with it.

The only way I can see the pistol fitting into the current multiplayer weapon set is as a finisher, as Rev noted. The BR has been introduced for midrange combat and dual wielding for close quarters. If the pistol is better for either scenario, then it kinda breaks that balance a little bit.
 
So, any chance they'd be testing out BOTS online? I had the weirdest game yesterday. I played a 4v4 Team Slayer game with 7 players that all had the same name. Sthwilliam01, Sthwilliam02, Sthwilliam03, etc. I uploaded the video to my file share for anyone who really wants to see it.

I had 35 of our 50 kills. They were all pretty terrible. Only reason I bring up bots is because:
1) They would sporadically get better and kill me, then suck again until I got on another high streak
2) None of them had mics.

I was the only player that wasn't named Sthwilliam. It was pretty weird.

But having used the Halo3 pistol, would you honestly pick it up over any current weapon?
Would you trade off your AR for it? Would you rather dual wield spikers, or pistol/spiker ?

That's my point, and why I call the Halo3 pistol pointless. Its just going to get you killed while you try and finess a few flashy kills with it.

That said, they'll prolly tweak it up a bit for the final. The rate of fire just killed it.

Sthwilliam01, Sthwilliam02, and Sthwilliam03 are real people, not bots.

Haven't used it. I was just thinking about the current weapon sandbox and where it would fit in. In the early days of the F&F, I heard internal rumblings about the use of the pistol in the game, so I doubt the version you are seeing is final.

Haha. That's funny.

Thought they were bots cause they were named the same, and played like crap. And occasionally they'd "turn it on", when in actuality it was probably just someone leaving and another person playing.

BTW, people complaining about the pistol and/or sword have to realize that it's not in the beta for a reason. They probably weren't happy with the current balance of those weapons and therefore left them out.

Why are people complaining about the Pistol? Will it really suck to you guys if it doesn't come back as powerful as Halo's? Jeez... it's not even final anyways...
