also wanted to mention how incredible the ight from the glowing sword is. at one point i came across a dropped sword inside the shotgun area of snowbound. the light emitted from the sword was doing some really cool refraction through the glass floor. looked sublime
 
Not to sound like a moron, but why does the sword point up? Is it to try and make it harder to see the enemy, therefore "balancing" it?

As you can see the movie feature doesn't like custom games at all (no surprise), so no movies for the moment.

:lol where have you been? alos, theres the sword and wraith tank (along with all the other working custom options such as player speed and gravity)

Mystery solved. Sorry I just thought maybe it was a placeholder for a pistol headshot or something. Haven't played beta since my xbox broke :(

What info was in the new gamepro that I see people mentioning? New armor? Also how is the wraith?

I'm not sure if you guys have talked about it but I just saw some pics of new marines in the game. Their masks look similar to the yellow HAZE characters' :lol but they look really awesome.

Not yet. :( I've only read through Fall of Reach and First Strike.

(Fall of Reach = AAA)

I really like Nylund's narrative, but yeah it did get a little sketchy with the action going on in space near the planet. Great story though and it definitely points to what the Ark could/should be.

I went ahead and ordered all the books off of walmart.com, they should arrive by next Tuesday. :D

can't wait to read them.

Why should it be bannable? It's a bug in the demo. This is how it will work in the final game. Somebody forgot to disable it in the code for the demo.

my nerdiness is showing....

I hear the U.S. marine core is actually looking into a plane that can enter orbit and drop marines directly onto a target, something about airspace not mattering outside the atmosphere, and not needing to get air traffic permission to fly over certain borders. Would have been useful in getting Bin laden because a major hold up was getting air space permission without going to war.

Could you imagine how badass the marine would have to be, to make it into something as elite as orbital drop marine?
 
Yeah, the Nylund books are pretty good, not sci-fi masterpieces, but they are age turners.
I had some vacation time and picked them up to read and I finished all three of his books in four days.

Anybody allow someone else to play your beta? My brother is playing it constantly, and while he doesn't play games too often he can pick them up pretty well, except this one.

His biggest problem is that he never picks up any weapons, he just sticks to the AR, he espcially hates the BR with a vengence known only to him. His biggest problem though is when he sees an enemy he throws a grenade in there direction, but doesn't account for the arc, so he under throws. He then goes to engange the enemy (usually without reloading, so going in with about 5 bullets) stepping over the grenade he just threw while it blows up taking out his shields and wondering why the other guy beat him so easily.

He's making progress though, he just started using the B button.

Yeah, I try to help him when I can, he just keeps doing it though. Like me putting my shaking head in my hands while watching him play.

He is getting better, just in baby steps.

Oh, I can be even more nerdy then you:

They're SPARTAN-III's. However, they're wearing a different type of armor, (SPI Camoflauge). I read it in the books. :P
 
Someone from another forum brought up the old EGM pictures from November 2006 and they looked exactly the same as the build we have right now. His question was, have Bungie not improved the graphics since or is the beta build essentially the same from November with up to date network code?
 
My god the lag was bad today. I had to stop playing after three or four matches that crashed as everyone had red connections. Don't know what's up other than that I missed may sure kills and once lagged on top of a mine.
 
I know I praised Bungie for their stats logging, but today they F'd that up. I played several games and two of the games I won disppeared! No trace of them at all...and I got +27 K/D ratio on one of them :(

Meaning the "Helljumpers" from Halo 2? They don't look anything like the shown custom Spartan options.
