The Halo 3 Beta Thread

Here are the old EGM pics from November 2006. I think it's safe to say we'll be blown away if all Bungie has been doing the past 7 months is polishing and beefing up the final game, with 4 full months to go before release.

Hey guys MMaRsu and I are playing again, this time we're fooling around with Custom Games. Add either one of us (MMaRsu NL / Your Arsonist) to get an invite, it would be awesome to get a 12 player Free For All going :)

You are playing old code that is representative of the core gameplay. Graphic updates will be made, but we're talking decorators, texture improvements, lighting, and other "polish" effects. Head over to HBO if you want to check out an interview with Frankie on this very subject.

Single player is going to make your testicles swell, explode, and then regrow, only to explode again. You're going to need pants. Lots of pants.

I played a few customs and I was really impressed by the huge amount of settings we can change. Player modifiers for the winning/losing team/player opens up so many new doors.

I'm a bit disappointed with the pistol. One one hand, its design is a lot cooler than Halo 2's (obviously closer to the one in Halo) and it's definitely more powerful than the nerfed pistol in 2 (and less powerful than the original pistol), but unless i spawned with it, i don't think i'd ever use it. Add a little more range and drop the headshot count to 4 (still much better than the ridiculous 13 or whatever from Halo 2) and I think it'd be good.

EDIT: Nevermind. Arsonist added me. I'll be on soon to see what's up. :D
 
I've got so many damn ppl... :\

Anyway I just left to play some shadowrun, but MAN OH MAN is Halo 3 custom games good :D :D . I won twice in a row with like 12 players so that was kinda cool as well heh :D

Oh and Eric WK I got some free space on my friends list now :)

After using the pistol a bit, I have to say it seems pretty useless in its current state. If you want to do that, for example, a carbine or battle rifle would work just as well - only have longer range.

Also, it takes 7 headshots when dual wielded? This can't be right. So it magically becomes weaker when you pick up two of them? :/ It did seem weaker when I picked up two of them though.

weapons SHOULD be weaker when you are holding two of them, that is the only way to make them worth picking up when you only have 1 of them.

They either have to be weaker when dual-wielded

or

The accuracy must be significantly worse when they are dual wielded.

that way it is worth it to only have one of them if you want to toss nades
