The up/down leveling is totally f*cked up.

I start my game, play ok, kicking ass at +5 to +15 spreads. I go up three levels. At that level I start to get my ass totally handed to me, with -7 to -13 spreads (!!!). But the game won't downlevel me at same tempo, hence my K/D ratio gets completely screwed and I can't get to even games.

MAKE THE DOWNLEVELING FASTER

Oh noez! not your K/D ratio!
 
Lazer ammo was fine to me though I think the powering up time should be a second or two longer, its way too easy to snipe with it right now.

i think the timing is okay.

if you are aware of where the laser is at all times, you should have no problem avoiding the beam of lovin'

Stop! it hurts more everytime you remind me. Plus, once you are really trying to win a match and not contemplating the graphics, the lack of AA is unnoticeable.
 
Oh shit... I forgot to ask one question. I haven't followed the thread so I'm not sure if this has been mentioned. Is there a flashlight in multiplayer?

Some dark tunnels with power weapons in them, sneaking around, needing a flashlight.

Ok, I meant not needed in the beta. Those maps are all well lit.

And the Laser ammo should go down EVERY time you hold the trigger, not just when it fires.
I say keep the Needler the same.

You see more people using Carbines, Battle Rifle, Sniper, and other weapons more than the Needler itself, anyhow. It's not overpowered. The accuracy of it fits well. I say leave it alone.

However, they should tone the Carbine down slightly. I do like the Battle Rifle's accuracy over long distances, though. Truly good to see. :)

I love High Ground's look during the night. Snowbound reminds me of Two Betrayel's, of Halo: CE -- loved that level. :D
 
I hope that the flashlight is still in H3 single-player, and also that it works like H:CE's flashlight, not like H2's.
I hated that auto-off function.

I don't see why it wouldn't be. You have a DPad that doesn't have any other purpose, right? Also, I kinda like the Battery idea too. Something that would give us a small bar showing how much we have left. It would also be helpful if we play as someone who has active camo...

I miss the Needler being dual-wieldable, I liked the noise they made.
Weapon balance seems OK to me, I'm not convinced the Carbine is overpowered. Obviously the sniper should be nerfed since I hate snipers.:)

And seriously, the Warthog is the Juggernaut of the Apocalypse - what's the tank going to be like? My guess - main cannon will cause the nearest star to explode.

You can launch a tank via the mancannon. You have to use the one facing the side, not the middle one.

A Custom Games option called Super Man Cannon would be cool. You can adjust the strength of the canon. Max strength would send you from one base to the other.

Now that is fun.

I agree totally. Although I don't think it takes K/D spreads into account so much. I had a -22 round and it didn't go down.

The problem is not that our K/D spreads suck balls, it's that we are in games where we get completely dominated, hence our K/D ratio is just a symptom. If I can say one thing to Bungie and have them listen, it would be the skill rating system broken. You can place in the bottom half (4th to 6th in rumble pit) for 9 matches in a row, as I did, and not go down. You will only go down if your dead last AND rated higher than all your opponents. The big problem is then you get something like Oddball, Crazy King, or Rockets which (no offense to that guy who loves Oddball) don't require as much skill generally. Hence you can pull out a decent finish, lets say third, and have your rank go up.

Considering I have no choice but to play with this matchmaking system, I needs to be fixed. I have thrown several evenings of playing at hoping that my skill rating balances out, but it just keeps going up.

*All my experiences are from the rumble pit, hence all my complaints are aimed at the rumble pit rating system.

If you make it to level 15 in rumble pit then you start to get your ass handed to you and you are falling middle to bottom of the pack everygame, why would you want to drop down levels? If your K/D ratio is anywhere between -2 to +2 then you are right where you belong. You should stay at that level until you get better, then you will start to level up.

You earned that 15 in rumble pit, why do you want to lose it so quickly?

In order for a ranking system to work (and by work I mean largely to stop assholes from de-ranking) some people have to get bit in the ass. If the small percentage of people get bit in the ass and it stops most of de-levelers then the SYSTEM WORKS
 
I got a kill with every weapon on HG in one game. that should be an achievment in the final game

it's also been really laggy today. even Slayer, yellow bars all day. :[
 
Had a discussion about the needler last night...I like it personally. I think with all of this hardcore testing Bungie is asserting this late in development will prove itself to be worthwhile in the end, but people are always going to have issues with the weapon that kills them the most.

That's not only called "bias," but it's called "bias" when it's specifically enacting its torrid ménage à trois love affair with ignorance and sciolism.

Speaking of weapon balancing, my opinion is that it can be done with placement of the weapon on a map (if its a power weapon, throw it among the fusion cores and give it low ammo counts) and with counters (give the weapon an arch-enemy weapon on the map that can take it out if acquired by the opposing team). I talk about it in a brief beta write-up I did on H3DA. Fan's nitpicking about non-final weapons is just a sad case of betardation...real word. Look it up.

I don't have any problems with the Needler as is. It's not like it dominates the game. The only thing I could think of is maybe tweak the distance of the tracking a bit and even that's nitpicking.

I really dig the style of this game. I just find it more pleasing then Gears of war which is a lot more gritty. I hope Bungie implement saturation modes in the final game, because I've noticed on some HDTV's the games' colors don't "pop".

My vote for the most underused underrated weapon of the beta would be the SMG. It really sounds like hell is raining down on your foes when you get the drop with dual SMG's.

I like the Needler but I find it too inconsistent. it seems like sometimes it tracks and sometimes it doesn't. maybe it's a range thing, but I try to use it at close-mid range.

if i'm holding Shotgun/AR, I'll drop AR for Needler.
if I'm holding BR/AR, I won't drop AR
 
Anyone find out why Bungie removed the accuracy stat from this game and even for H2 on B.net? I use to find the information helpful. If i was having a few off games i would check the stat and lower my sensitivity if needed.

Frank and Luke have both said the stat tracking in the Beta is very incomplete. I'm sure it will be there in the final.

Glad to hear that. :-) The wait for the final game is going to be pretty painful after the beta ends. But, I'm sure there will be a ton of surprises when it comes to MP and SP.
 
Qwerstion: Why does it always take like two minutes to get back into the game when someone quits? Every other game seems to handle this phenomenon very seamlessly, but Halo has always had a major problem with that. It's mega annoying.

When this happens to me it reconnects pretty fast. I would say maybe the person who has the best upload is trying to be selected by the game but he or she might not have the right ports open so it takes longer to establish a connection.
 
I think I'd rather it just dump the game then make me wait two minutes and then dump it anyway. :/
