The Halo 3 Beta Thread

Well, I've played my last games of the Halo 3 Beta. I'm pleased to say I reached a 1.4 K/D Ratio and a rank of Liuetenant Grade 1. I think my highest level was 16, but I forget which mode it was for. I played 218 games.

I'm really going to miss Halo 3. It feels like nothing else I have to play can compare right now. The feeling of marching downfield with a nice 6-man team and having all these weapons, vehicles, and toys to choose from is just so awesome. September feels a long way off. Wish I could play more, but I'm leaving for the weekend. Farewell Halo 3 beta!

I'm at 337 games played. I'm actually pretty happy, my K/D ratio has maintained completely at between 1.2 and 1.3 pretty much the entire time, better than my Halo 2 ratio. I attribute it mostly to starting with a weapon that doesn't totally suck. I'd planned on playing a lot more, but no one ever seems to be on, I've only played like twice in the last week and a half or so. I'm off all weekend, hopefully we can get some games on. Everyone's switched over to Forza or Shadowrun, but hopefully people will get back on this since it's the last weekend of it.

Well apparently I have to break from the damn game now for bodily functions or risk public humiliation, so I can't make any promises.
 
Here is the ultimate solution to quitters in ranked matches. Dont give them an option to quit the game. Simple solution. They have to either shut down their console or unplug the network cable. I think that is punishment enough right there. If you cant just go into the menu and quit, I think that will keep the majority of people from quitting. Add on your removal of points, quitting will be a thing of the past. Yes I know you can quit a game by going to the dashboard, but thats about the same as shutting down the console, it requires you loading up the game again.

Im more annoyed with people that quit games when they are about to lose, or when things arent going in their favor. I dont mind if someone has irl issues, or sometimes random drop outs. Just fvcking hate it when people quit cause they dont want to lose. I never quit, and Im serious, I havent quit a game since a few months into playing Halo 2 online. I will continue to play 6 vs 1, 4 vs 1, or whatever even if there is no hope. Quitting is for losers.

Ive played 374 games so far with just barely a 1.0 K/D ratio. Better than my 0.8 - 0.9 ratio in Halo 2 haha.

My favorite bit so far: Jaime talking about what's changed in Halo 3. "We've got so much more processing power for AI that we're putting battles together that you've never seen in Halo. They're huge. The fights are just enormous."

It would be awesome if there was a commander giving all the orders to the enemy in battle, and if you took him out, they'd become disorganized and shit

Hmm, maybe something like an "Elite" soldier. Once he was taken out, the "grunts," so to speak, would scramble in terror. I think you're on to something here! ;)

Also, the Chieftains in the Brute packs. I wouldn't be surprised if taking him out caused them to go berserk.

I'm catching up on Hajime no Ippo manga right now, I'll try to keep half an eye on Live (via xbox.com) and see if you or anyone else gets on I'll hop on. 360's in another room, otherwise I'd just idle on it.

every game has a built in quit feature its called going to the dashboard.
 
I haven't played the beta since the 2nd (Forza ftw! Beta glitchers/cheaters ftl!) and I have

I think it would be great if the remaining grunts would change sides when their Brute commander is killed. They are cowards after all.

Paying off the Jackals would be cool as well, they are only mercenaries after all and don't give two hoots about the "great journey".

While Halo 2 allowed you to be either a Spartan or an Elite, Bungie representatives confirmed us that it will be possible to play as at least one type of extraterrestrial unit in the Halo 3 mutliplayer, without saying if it will be the now friendly Elites or the more scary and hairy Brutes."

So its official then that theres something besides MC as a option in the multiplayer game. Didn't know that had ever been confirmed till now.

I think it was assumed and I remember Frankie or somebody from Bungie saying the reason the Elites haven't been shown or used is because they're going through a redesign. And didn't Frankie said there wouldn't be any Brutes in Halo 3?
 
Yeah, Frankie confirmed no Brutes and yeah, Elites are in. They spoke about redesigning the model with an eye towards uniformity in multiplayer. That's all from memory, so someone can come along and correct me if they have better info. And if they are a jerk.

I am wondering how this Drinol Beast will go about masticating it's food. Those chompers look rather ill-adept for any sort of grinding, pulping, or chewing. Or do the Covenant trainers feed it some sort of baby food pulp, ala Robocop?

I've having an odd day. I keep on losing every single Team Slayer I go into, yet pretty much always I'm the best player in my team with around 15 kills. What does this tell?

When is the beta over?

I retired from the Halo3 beta a few weeks ago after becoming a level 44 in Rumble Pit, but I will come out of retirement and get some more games in before I have to wait until September :(

Stick with the other members of your team and stop running off by yourself, that way, you still get your kills, and you hopefully prevent some of your teammates' deaths.

I'd prefer it if the Plasma Pistol was more like the one in Halo CE, in that a single overcharge won't overheat it but will fill up the bar qite a lot, allowing for a few more successive shots to take down the target - and then spazzing out.

Hard to balance with Dual-Wielding though.
 
I have a feeling Stinkles will talk about the bonus features of the CE and LE editions of Halo in the Weekly Update. You can quote me on this.

Who knows, maybe we could play on Snowbound and be spawned safely away from the action, then play High Ground and get spawned in the open and get lasered.
