ARE YOU ****ING SERIOUS? Do you REALLY care this much about a GAME? Stop typing and stab yourself with your keyboard because you fail at life.

Someone being fanatical about a game.......at GAF? Surely you jest.

You need to realize what forum you're on and relax.

As far as the MC's face goes,
for some reason I don't think Bungie would go with the scarred Sith Lord looking face that was shown. Then again it would be unique to have him have that Darth Vader kind of unveiling.

I would so go there. But I've looked at their schedule and they don't come to Belgium. Closest is Paris, UK or Germany. Paris is at least a 3-4 hour drive so I don't think I can do that.
I know experiencing it live is so much more amazing. Every year I go to Night of The Proms (10, 000 people live concert with mix of classical and contemporary music) and it's just so much better being there.

Would you mind sharing the dates for UK?

The youtube video is amazing btw. Do they change the themes/music or are the same ones played in all the concerts?

Hahah. Like the photoshop. Ghaleon discovered the glory of god mode in Crackdown last night and it is clear in his furious rampage on this very thread today. Furious, I tell you. :)

Back to Halo 3, I've been thinking about a unique concept which I'm literally shocked hasn't been implemented in multiplayer:

LIGHT BRIDGES.

Remember the first time you flipped the switch after cutting down a pair of Elite Majors in the second level during H1? The bridge appears and it's really the first time you get a good physical sense of the Forerunner technology? I think it was really cool...

My question is why hasn't it been implemented in multiplayer yet, like during an objective-centric map (particularly CTF). You could have one or two of these things on a map and individual switches located neutrally that control each - or maybe just one bridge and one switch.

Rather than having it be a gate which opens and stays open, only slowing down the flag grabs, it could be a bridge which doesn't necessarily need to be crossed to get from Point A to Point B, but is by far the easiest way.

Think about the characteristics of combat which would be introduced... Not ony would you have to communicate to get into the base, grab the flag, and leave (like you would normally), but now you have to communicate on whether or not the switch is free or if the "wrong" players have possession of it.

Defensive players would rush the switch to stop the offensive players from carrying the flag over. They would flip it and shut the bridge off, dropping the players to their deaths. Offensive players, however, would flip the switch to turn the bridge off when defensive players are trying to stop the carrier after they've passed the bridge.

This concept is old (Moses/Red Sea/dead Egyptians), but I think it would make for an interesting map and I'll be honest in saying that I'm shocked we haven't seen anything like this or at least similar to it...

When the shots of the controllers went up yesterday, I mistakenly thought they were Mad Catz products based on their previous announcement that they would release Halo 3 accessories when the game came out. Looks like the first of their actual products is now listed. It's a "Halo 3 Faceplate/Skin Pack". Hopefully it features artwork from Bungie - unlike the first-party controllers - because if it's actually good I will garb my console in Bungie love.

I haven't seen the controllers up close, but I'm so pissed McFarlane's name is attached to them. I've always wanted figurines and art from that guy based in the Halo universe, but those controllers are horrible. Hopefully he has something interesting down the pipeline...I've been a fan of the Spawn figurines for quite some time now.

That's a really cool idea. I think that would be a ton of fun.

That's because Columbus, Ohio is the best place ever.

There is some things that my mind just associates with the Haloverse.

I don't know where they come from, but they are just there.

I associate Ohio, Michigan and Florida with Halo.

Also, Hardcore music, and teenagers with tight jeans.

hrmm??

It seems that most people I talk to about Halo, or I play with are either from Ohio, Michigan, or Florida.

I dunno

The art quality is below a good chunk of the suff in the HBO fan art page, but more alarmingly it doesn't appear to be really designed with a controller layout in mind.

I've tried playing both Halo and Halo 2 after playing Halo 3 and they're both unplayable for me now. the controls are no where as near as tight, I prefer reloading with the left/right bumpers instead of X, and the aiming is much better in Halo 3 than the other two. playing the beta really has spoiled me; these next 3 months better go fast. :lol

Random thought - the layout of the controllers is similar. The Warthog on one side and the Chief on the other for the human, and the Phantoms and a Brute on the other. I wonder if that particular Brute is important - he's got an elaborate helmet and it would be consistent with the human design to place a major character there. Could that be one of the major villains in Halo 3?

Oh, and light bridges for the MF win. Dropping the flag carrier while they run accross would be a great dynamic to MP.

You have a point. I fully expect someone from the Brute tribe to take over the role left by Tartarus. I even thought at one point that the Brute who took that role might be related to Tartarus somehow, possibly with a vendetta for the whole "gang rape incident" in 05's control room where Johnson and the Arbiter essentially tag-teamed the dude until he died.

What Tartarus doesn't know when I get into the control room during that last battle is that I've got a Beam Rifle of my own for a secondary weapon. He doesn't know that because he's playing H2 and you can't see the secondary weapon in Halo 2. Duh.

Because they are done by Todd McFarland. :|

Bracktanus is one of only three Brutes we know by name, the other 2 being Tartarus and Gargantum. However while Gargantum was only mentioned in Ghosts of Onyx as a Ship Master, Bracktanus was in a early Halo 2 script seen in the making of DVD that came with the Limited Edition version of Halo 2, and he is also mentioned briefly in the Conversations from the Universe booklet, having killed a Elite near a holy place with no repercussion.

As such it wouldn't surprise me if his name popped up in Halo 3, but it would be just as likely for Bungie to create a brand new Brute character to replace Tartarus.

I played one online game of Halo 2 the other night, kept on pressing the wrong buttons to do things, won the game and then had the other team start whining about us feeling good about beating them in team training and then being racist. I just couldn't bring myself to play another game after that :lol

Just saved off the list of gamertags from this thread to be used in the "official" Halo 3 thread. About two weeks before Halo 3 releases I'll start a thread with the purpose of gathering up gamertags of those who intend to buy the game; I'll include the list from this thread as a starting point. I know I missed a few hundred that came in the last thirteen thousand posts. The new one will be more complete. One week before the game comes out I'll start the "official" thread. Should be fun.

Still surprised you dont have a Tag under your name for starting the largest thread in GAF history.

Betalicious would be a good one

Yeah, The headset is the only thing that looks remotely buyable. Still, didn't the wireless headsets have problems? Or have they fixed that?

I second this idea.

As the opposing team is running off with your flag you're rushing to flip the switch off. They think they're about to make a quick getaway, only to fall to their deaths as the bridge literally disappears from under their fleeing Warthog.

Sounds fun to me.

I think this deserves its own topic, but i'll post it here, don't wanna upset anyone:

Halo 3 beta: 820,000 served
Almost a million unique gamers played Bungie's latest first-person shooter over the four-week beta period.

The Halo 3 beta has left the building, leaving many gamers unsure what to do until the game's official release on September 25.

During the beta period, which ran from May 16 to June 10, more than 820,000 gamers gave the title a test run, according to Microsoft. The testers logged some 12 million hours of online gameplay--which would be equivalent to continuous play of over 1,400 years--Halo 3 developer Bungie announced. In a statement, Microsoft Game Studios vice president Shane Kim called the response to the beta "staggering," and said he is "confident" the game "will drive an unprecedented wave of new gamers to the Xbox 360 platform and Xbox Live."

What does this mean for Crackdown sales?

I heard they suck a Feedback nut.

The person wearing it hears fine, but everyone else hears every little thing in the background of the player wearing the headset. They are super sensitive

When the Halo 3 release date was announced at the start of the Beta, Microsoft's PR said Crackdown had sold 900,000 units in the first 2 months. I assume it's over a million by now. As it should be.

:/ Wish it was like that for me. The experience varies, apparently.

I can hear everybody else just fine, but I have to raise my voice to a point I'm not comfortable with for the thing to pick it up. That, or cup my hand over the mic, which is a bother--'specially when I got somethin' important to say if I'm in between firefights. This is my second one too, both had the same problem. I went back to using the wired Plantronics headset a few days after I started playing the beta.

If it could easily pick up my voice, I'd love it. It's comfortable, everybody's voice comes in clear, muting it is nice 'n' simple... And I like that I can still hear all the chatter in the pregame lobby when I go to the kitchen for a drink or somethin'.

Fix it, MS. :( Make the mic retractable or something.

Hopefully it reaches 1.5 Million soon so that MS gives the green light to the sequel. Crackdown, by far the best game on the 360.

That sounds awesome. The light bridges must make a return! What if you could turn it on while someone was jumping through it, effectively beheading.

The light bridge thing sounds way too gimmicky for a game of MP Halo, just IMO.
If the map is set in an environment where it is appropriate, it could be pretty fun. No less gimmicky than a gate that once opened, cannot be closed. :p

They already used something similar in Halo 2 with the gates in Containment. I think it'd add an interesting element.
