so, i got heroes for 15 bucks on hddvd, Im nearly done. I really like it, but it kinda seems like they made a stand alone story that is going to wrap up in this season. I do sorta wish they dropped the lost style slow reveal mystery and went straihht out action, but I suppose that is how they keep the show affordable.

Which brings me to my question: just how bad is season 2? Is it just not as good, or am I better off pretending it doesnt exist? Anything happen in S2 that I need to know for S3?

Also, Sylar = watchmaker is ripoff total. I just pretend its an homage to watchmen and not outright theft.
S2 isn't very good, but it's not as bad as GAF would like you to think. It's 11 episodes... just watch it and go in with low expectations.

Family Video. They routinely beat almost everyone's prices on preorders (their Godfather Blu-ray is $15 less than Amazon) and they're very fast and reliable with shipping; my copies went sent a few days ago, so I'll probably have them right on Tuesday.

Only downside is that they don't offer free shipping, which I'd usually take if it's an option. Still, $2 isn't a big deal and my friend can cover that when he pays me for his copy. ;)
ah cool.

I've never seen it before but the cast has me interested. Might order it.

is there any word if they're going to release the matrix trilogy individually or do i have to buy all 3?

Looks like WB is trying to once again forcefeed us 2 shitty movies to get the one we want.

Well I finally got around to hooking up my surround speakers after moving into my new house. Ceiling mounted pointing down to the seating area. With all speakers on the side due to the limitations of the room. Still sounds great, I think better than my previous set up of all four sides and surrounds behind that I had at my previous house.

Watched Live Free or Die Hard, very active rears which was pretty awesome.

I get one area setup and something happens with the other.
I burnt out the crossover on one of the speakers in my two channel setup, which is annoying because they are supposed to be able to handle much more power than I'm giving them.

What are you guys picking up this week?
Ditto on Terminator

About the Matrix trilogy, only Revolutions is really not worth buying imo, so 3/4 ain't bad, especially since everything is presented in HD too. I don't get the hate for Reloaded.

Return to HD Update:

Well, I rehooked up my stereo and PS3 in my newly remodelled living room, and I watched Batman Begins.

I used to think my LCD projector's blacks were weak, but having a real screen as opposed to a painted wall makes a huge difference. It looks beautiful.

Now I eagerly await Speed Racer on BluRay-- not to mention all the stuff I skipped getting in the last two months.

Agreed. Reloaded is notwhere near as good as the original, but it's worth watching.

I enjoy them all for the most part. I agree the first one had the best overall pacing and story/action balance, but the other 2 are still enjoyable for me. Either I don't have high standards, or I just didn't get too overhyped. Either way, I'll pick up the trilogy for the action scenes and eye candy that is 1080p.

I'm pretty disappointed nobody's talking about picking up CJ7 this week. I heard about it on high def digest and rented it on a whim. It's a pretty awesome little family movie. Just don't go into it thinking Kung Fu Hustle. My wife didn't want to see it at all, but I ended up convincing her and know she wants to know if I'm buying it, which I plan to. I was blown away by the little girl's performance (though she's a boy in the movie).

The BD looked pretty good, audio was average imo. The extras were descent and they had some BD Live trailers and stuff. I took the BD Live survey and they had some interesting questions about potential future applications, such as live commentary.

I rented the first disc from Netflix, was not blown away by the pilot episode. Is it worth persevering with?
That actually isn't much of a deal b/c Amazon was selling it for $31. I got mine on ebay for $17.

Anyway, the first 4 or 5 episodes are just setup and nothing really happens. After that it gets really good.

I'm waiting to pick up SCC depending on how season 2 goes. I was tempted because of the low price but it was probably one of the more disappointing shows I watched last season. Picked up at the end so I'm hoping s2 follows that trend.

Word. Reloaded is actually my favorite, 3 had some bad parts mainly cuz the original oracle died and that killed it...also aaliyah was supposed to be zee not nona gaye's ugly ass

Pretty crappy prices, mostly $20 and up. I feel like my movie-buying has dried up as the sales have, especially of the caliber we were getting before.

same, i'm holding out for another amazon bogo, if i have to wait for xmas so be it

Not only was she the hottest sidekick, she was the only one who could act her way out of a paperbag.

The sequels had their moments (screw the haters), but I sometimes like to pretend the actual story ended at AP1

Ok, am I the only one thinks that charging over $20 for old catalog titles is a bit or ass rape?

They honestly wonder why the sales aren't picking up quicker, yet the price on discs at retail is absurd. $25-$35 for a single movie? Come the fuck on.

The prices are too high, if I can't get a movie used for $16 or under I just rent the movie at blockbuster, 5 bucks is not that bad considering I will usually never see a movie more than 1 time.

*signs pact with blood*

And none of that Buy 2, get 1 crap they've been pulling lately, with all the movies over $20.

Picked up Street Kings and Afro Samurai @ Best buy today

I guess they were selling Afro Samurai early since amazon has it listed as the 26th

should be one? How so? This isn't Grindhouse. They were made as seperate movies. Combining them would be ridiculously lengthy.
Maybe you should try doing some research before making false assertions kthxbai

I like AP2 a fair bit, but AP3 is just wretched. This is where I saw Myers' creativity run out, and they just coasted on old, rehashed gags from the previous films. And while I like AP2 as I said, its LEAGUES behind the original. AP1 >>>>> AP2 > AP3.
