Hmmmm... TrueHD... Are these the first New Line Blu-Rays to not include DTS-HD Master Lossless?

I guess you haven't seen the INSIDE of the box

Yes, a bunch of stuff that you'll glance at excitedly while opening the box for the first time and will then collect dust on the shelf. $65 well spent!

what, you're not going to put the Casablanca luggage tags on your luggage? :lol

Sweet. I will get the Austin Powers package. I'm also going to grab the kill bill two pack from amazon.

But why oh why are TV box sets on blu ray still vastly overpriced? :(

Did anyone pick up Justice League Season 1?

I'm a little skeptical about how much Blu-ray would improve it and would like to hear some impressions.

I guess they were selling Afro Samurai early since amazon has it listed as the 26th
How much was Afro Samurai marked at in store? It was 13.99 on their website.

I'm hoping to hear more as well. I just picked it up today, but won't get to check it out till I'm home from work. I'll post impressions if no one else has.

Which are overpriced?
I got Terminator SCC for like 25 bucks, I got all the Weeds seasons for 20 bucks each. Prison Break was the most expensive at like 60, but its also FOX.

Saw In the Valley of Elah last night. Looked good, not much sound stuff to talk about (TrueHD). The movie was very good but ultimately unsatisfying. I had to go to wikipedia to get the full story.

Sopranos season six was split into two half seasons, with each one having an MSRP of $129.99. Smallville has an MSRP of $80. Lost season three lists for $99.95.

Lionsgate has been great with their TV shows on Blu-ray so far (Weeds and Mad Men). Warner has been guilty of high prices (Smallville and Sopranos) in the past, but has apparently scaled things back for SCC.

I enjoyed (well, as much as you could in a movie like this) it up until the last shot, where they really cram the message down your throat.

Well my problem was I didn't realize it was a movie about PTSD, so I was looking for an actual motive or twist behind the killings or something. The revelation of what actually happened was also so straightforward that I kept thinking it was a fake confession and there was a twist beyond that.

The Justice League Season 1 blu-ray is pretty decent. The colors are very vibrant, and the background art looks very good in HD for the most part. There are times where certain background elements look really blocky and pixelated, but I have a feeling that this is how it looked originally, and the animators figured it wouldn't show on an SD set, so it wouldn't matter. The transfer itself is pretty good. The line work on the characters can be a little jaggy, but all in all, I'm really happy I bought it, because it looks much better than DVD.

Watched The Lookout on BD last night. It was decent, but I expected a little bit more; it was somewhat anti-climactic, and almost corny at times. I’m a big Gordon-Levitt fan, though, and he didn’t disappoint; Jeff Daniels was pretty solid, too. PQ was okay, but not much better than anything you’d see on an HD cable channel. A lot of the scenes have an abundance of grain that seemed a little out of place.

Also watched No Country for Old Men the other night. I’d seen it several times, but this was my first time watching it on Blu-ray and I was definitely impressed. Even my girlfriend (who is NOT a videophile) couldn’t stop commenting on how fantastic the transfer quality is.

Can’t wait for Nightmare Before Christmas next week! Sounds like it has all of the features of the original DVD release, plus a complete restore/remaster – should be good.

Paramount is working to lure fans to their new slate of Blu-ray offerings by dangling a ten dollar carrot before their eyes.

Beginning with the release of the 'Transformers' Blu-ray on September 2nd, the company will roll out a special promotion to customers who replace their Paramount and Dreamworks DVD’s with Blu-ray editions of the same titles. Consumers who mail in promotional certificates from inside the eligible Blu-ray products, along with the proof-of-purchase tabs from both the DVD and Blu-ray versions will receive a $10 rebate for the upgrade.

Other eligible titles will include 'The Godfather: The Coppola Restoration,' 'Sweeney Todd,' 'Old School,' 'Stardust,' and 'Zodiac.'

It didn't blow me away either visually, or with the story, but if you like Justice League stuff, I'd check it out, as it was still fun to watch. If I remember, it really just felt like an extended Justice League episode, with production values to match. The animation wasn't spectacular or anything. It has been a while since I watched it, but I remember that it didn't live up to the other animation that I've seen in HD. My biggest complaint, as a fan of Warner's DC cartoons, is that Kevin Conroy wasn't the voice of Batman.

Just watched T2 on Blu-ray. It wasn't that good. The quality I meant. It felt more like a DVD disc. Also no extras wtf? Oh well. At least I bought it for 12 bucks.

I will wait for Kinowelt to port over their HDDVD which is awesome.

Got Transformers (out in two weeks) this morning but Nightmare Before Christmas (out next week) hasn't even started processing yet. Why, Movietyme, why!?

nice. i really liked the golden army, i thought it was a lot better than the first in pretty much every way.

I enjoyed Hellboy 2 but not as much as I though I would. I watched it literally right after the Dark Knight so my mind was still on Batman.

Disney's doing the same thing with Prince Caspian. 'Disney File' edition for $5 more, with the only difference being Digital Copy.

Sitting here watching The Two Towers on TNT in HD. This just makes me want a true HD release of these awesome as hell movies even more.

It just looks SOOOOOOOOOOO damn good.

And shittier cover art, apparently.

Rather have Star Wars TBH.
For the high def sound?
LOTR is going to smoke it in every aspect sound wise, by the simple fact that its 20+ years newer. I just watched A New Hope tonight, the sound is all over the place, especially dialog. Changing clarity mid scene is not good.
