Anyone seen this in stores today?

I allready own the HDDVD of Knocked up and 40 year old virgin, but what a great 3 pack that is.

I already have Knocked Up and The 40 Year Old Virgin on dvd but to anyone that hasn't picked them up, this is a crazy pack!

I have them on HD DVD as well, and I know they're both DD plus titles. Has anyone done a comparison of the audio between the two to say whether there's a big enough difference? My guess would be there isn't since both are comedies.

bleh, i messed up and bought the recalled version of Iron Man @ best buy.

Why the hell are they even selling it

I picked up Iron Man at Best Buy (new version, checked the number), and then got Forgetting Sarah Marshall, 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up at Target. They were $22 each.

How do you tell the difference between the old and new Iron Man?

My cd is taking a while to load... been a few minutes.

My cover just has a sticker over the old UPC, I hope this is not the broken one :(

BD-Live on this disc should take about 5-6 minutes to initialize everything the first time you put the disc in, or so I've just heard from other forums. After that it's supposed to be fine for PS3s.

I'm gonna go exchange mine just in case.

Mie is broke as well. I guess I will take it back to best buy tomorrow. I didn't even know there was a problem with the discs.

You guys knew there were issues with the discs....yet you STILL went and bought them. Why?

paramount said the issue was resolved, but I didnt think a retailer was dumb enough or paramount was dumb enough not to notify them to pull the defective ones off the shelf..this is fuckin dumb. Now I have to go back out to get a new copy.

alright so tell me gaf. should I go back and return iron man or keep it? It's the supposed defective model, but I put it in my ps3 and it took about 3-4min to load each time and then it went to the menu. Is it really defective or should I not bother with it?

What the flying FUCK.

A word of warning to Best Buy purchasers: I have the recalled version of the Iron Man BRD and Best Buy's solution to this problem was to put a sticker with the non-recalled SKU bar over the original on the case. Check the case before you leave the store.

Do you have a PS3? It's connecting and downloading the BD-Live material. Go into your settings and turn off the auto connect option, see if that helps.

edit: I changed the setting from allow to confirm, and it loaded right up. It's downloading BD Live content, it just doesn't let you know it.

You can tell the PS3 to ask you to load BD Live before running the disc. Mine loaded straight away.

Should it be connecting and downloading this update for an hour and a half? Cause that's how long I gave it while I was cooking dinner.

Not that I think many people in this thread give a fuck, but I posted earlier about The Tudors Season 1 on Blu-ray in North America popping up at Amazon... it has now been comfirmed, as well as Season 2:

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Tudors-Canada-Uncut-S1-S2-Blu-and-DVD/10617

They're Canadian releases... November 11, MSRP is CA$74.99. I am all the fuck over both of them, day one.

shit, mine had a sticker too. I just loaded it up and so far it's been loading for 2 minutes. Defective?

It's not defective. It's downloading content from their server.

Some people over at Blu-ray.com said it took 40 minutes to download everything. Just go into your BD/internet settings and change it from "allow" to "confirm."

I am pretty sure that all the corrected versions have stickers as it makes much more sense to just put new UPCs on the existing slipcases than to print new ones from scratch. Mine has a sticker and it works fine.

Costanza said:
but how much content could there possibly be? isn't this why they recalled them?
Its not really a matter of how much content there is, the problem is x number of people pounded the server at once.

And i have the same question, is this why the disc was recalled or was that a different issue?
My friend is asking/bitching about it.

this.

any word on miyazaki films?

Castle of Cagliostro was just announced for release in Japan, but no word here.

They'll (hopefully) release his films in the order that they came out - barring Ponyo of course.

Costanza said:
I dunno. I just copied that from AVS.
OK, the UPC code I last quoted from mine was a sticker pasted on from BB. I since ripped it off leaving a crappy torn paper motif on my case. :(

But the upc that it was covering up was different. THe first 5 numbers are the same as I quoted. But the last 5 are 38576.

I haven't tried and BD-live features, but the film works.

What was the defect to begin with?

Thank you gaf, Thank you! I had no idea why the hell my Iron Man disk was stuck at that loading screen and was about to go exchange it for a new one. Turned off the BD-Live option though and it worked like a charm.

I think I may just keep the "defective" one. When I allow my PS3 to stream in the content it takes about 3-4min which isn't too bad, but if I keep it on confirm/deny system when I want to watch the film it loads right up. So I think I may just keep it because it's not too big of a hassle and I really don't feel like going back today.

So i just got Iron Man, a defective copy. I have yet to play it, and my BluRay player is a PS3, will it work, or is it a disc by disc problem?

DCX

It sounds like it'll work fine if you have a ps3.

wow who in the fuck decided it was a good idea for freakin disc based content to have to load shit from a webserver first? Why not download it IDK if you go and choose to view the special features?
