Amazon pretty much blows. Release date is March 2nd (or 3rd) for Where the Wild Things Are - and they still haven't shipped it. First and last time I order something from them.

Well, I kinda live far away from USA. So it would be nice if they could ship it a bit earlier. :P Play always send your orders before the actual release date, just assumed that it was "industry standard". I'll just use Axelmusic next time even though it'll cost more.

Unsure of whether this is a joke. I trust Amazon more than I trust my Mom and my Pastor combined.

This.
Prime has been the best investment that I have made as far as gaming and movies go and I have completely pretty much stopped brick and mortar shopping due to amazon always having best price + no tax+ fast shipping and I pretty much get anything release date or at least the next day at worst.

Movietyme's good at sending stuff ahead of time. My Where the Wild Things Are shipped late last week and I should get it tomorrow or Saturday.

What do you mean "far"?

In my experience, Amazon sends me my games the day or night before release day, and I get them on release day.

ALWAYS.

Man, I'd marry Amazon if it was legal.

I'd guess he's in Europe, pre-ordered something at Amazon.com and got pissed because they didn't took into consideration that the parcel will take a week or two.

Europe. :) It's obviously my own fault for not checking this before ordering. I shouldn't assume things.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check them out.

why dont you cancel your order and order from amazon uk?

There's no price for the US import there, yet.

Play is kind of preparing my copy of Toy Story! Can't wait to see what it'll look like in glorious HD! The second one should be prepared soon as well, hopefully.

Anyone seen anything for the Dr. Who on BRD?

I may need to buy the complete specials so I can get caught up prior to season 5 starting. Netflix doesn't have the last two specials available for rent in any format.

Watching Invention of Lying....

This must be what gaf feels like when they watch crap like fireproof (which they probably don't).

The whole movie derailed terribly when gervais decided to push his atheism straight through the plot. Ugh.

Gotta pick up (500) Days of Summer tomorrow (Thank You Target!) and pick up Ponyo & Where The Wild Things Are on Tuesday. TOO MANY GREAT GAMES AND BLU RAYS COMING OUT AT THE SAME TIME! My mind (and wallet) are crying for mercy right now :(...:D

Why is there no City of God on bluray? I just don't understand... Do I have to e-mail someone to get this done?
The problem is that Miramax holds the rights for the distribution of City of God. I believe that Buena Vista is currently trying to sell Miramax, which is kind of putting a wrench in the works when it comes to releases...if someone could correct me if I'm wrong, that would be great. I don't know if it is the only reason, but it might be part of why we STILL don't have Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown in NA, and why there's no news on much of anything new from Miramax.

Shortly after they are announced?

K thanks.

I'm kind of new to Blue Ray but they're two of my most wanted movies for the format. I'm sure Jurassic Park will eventually make it's way over, but L.I.T. is frustrating because it's available on fuckin HD-DVD. I'm also hoping that the individual Lord of the Rings movies will be available on BD but I'm sure you guys have been fiending for that for a long time now. Same for Star Wars, but considering how long it took for them to come out of lousy fuckin DVD it'll be another several years or so for the Blue Ray.

For those interested, I contacted Amazon via customer service about the $10 off Ponyo coupon and they applied it to my order :D

YMMV but it is a great movie.

So...the delivery estimate on my copy of 2012 says March 2, but today is the 1st and Amazon hasn't shipped it yet. What are the chances that I will still get the movie tomorrow?

never knew The Universe was available on blu-ray until last week
been watching season one from netflix and it looks quite good

can't wait to get to the season with Amy Mainzer :D

I got my new fancy TV and BRP. What essential blu-ray movies (actual movies) should I get to show it off? I'm thinking 300 would look really good.

I watched Fantastic Mr Fox last night. Weird film, but it looks great on Blu-ray. The transfer really shows off the detail on the models, especially the hairy animals.

I also watched Where the Wild Things Are on Sunday night and liked the film but wasn't blown away by the video. DVD Beaver's review was much closer than the glowing AV score from High-Def Digest IMO.

Unfortunately Amazon wasn't able to deliver my copy of 2012 today due to supply constraints from the supplier. The new delivery estimate was this Friday, but I ended up cancelling the single disc version and purchasing the two-disc version since I was able to get it tomorrow. I guess Sony was expecting to sell more two-disc version than the one disc version since Amazon will not have the one-disc version in stock until the 7th. Bummer.

Amazon didn't apply it to mine :(

I've got a sweet looking, black steel book for Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I'd show it to you guys but I don't have a camera. I got it from the pre-order at Best Buy but what I'll probably end up doing is buying the Trilogy on Amazon because it's still less, even after the $5 spent on the pre-order case, which I think I can get my money back for the pre-order part of it...

I would recommend it. Beautiful film with a creative story. Plus, with the Disney coupon, the blu ray version is only $15. Not a huge risk for a beautiful film you might enjoy.

If you like movies meant for kids then yes. It really doesn't have much to offer for adults (plot/character vise) but music and animation alone makes it worth to watch if you can get enjoyment from such things :)

I don't understand why Disney needs years to release their older movies on Blu Ray.
I want the original Arielle with original german synchro(not the new horrible one) on Blu Ray.
my VHS is getting worse :(

What the fuck, HD GAF? How did this one slip under the radar? Why did no one tell me that Collateral is hitting Bluray on March 30th? Its only my most wanted Bluray since the format was invented!

Title: Collateral (IMDb)
Starring: Tom Cruise

Does anyone here have the ability to get screenshots of the Ponyo Blu-ray? I'd love some of those opening title backgrounds (like this, minus the text) for desktop wallpaper.

wow collateral is hitting bluray with one of the worst covers i've ever seen, great movie, i still cant get over how terrible the ending is, jamie foxx was totally incompetent throughtout the entire movie, but he manages to clip vincent at point blank range, right.....

I was thinking of getting some of the Star Trek movies. I never got the DVDs, so I haven't watched them in years. Is it worth getting the Blu-Rays now or is Paramount going to release the Director's Editions of the movies in HD eventually?

I got both the OS and NG movie box sets on Blu and I'm happy with them. Haven't waded completely through all the extras, but there's a bunch.

I was a bit confused on the "remastered" editions out there, but the transfers on the box sets are solid, so am not sure if the other editions are different than the box set versions. I doubt they are.
