I was a bit confused on the "remastered" editions out there, but the transfers on the box sets are solid, so am not sure if the other editions are different than the box set versions. I doubt they are.

I'm sure the ones in the box and the individual ones are the same. I'm talking about the Director's Cuts that they released on DVD. I don't know if you're aware of them or not, but Paramount released Director's Cuts of the first six movies on DVD. Apparently, the first three had stuff added to them. As far as I know, the Blu-Rays are based on the theatrical versions. I wonder if Paramount is ever going to release Blu-Rays of the Director's Cut versions.

I need help with the title of a film that I have watched when I was young. I have a vague recollection of it so I'll try my best to explain it. It starts out with a boy reading a book?and he ends up riding a dragon-like creature across this mystical land. I saw the film in a trailer montage on t.v. today.

Never ending story?

Toy Story has a trailer for Beauty and the Beast on Blu-ray and holy crap does it look good. I was definitely buying it either way, but it's been years since I've seen it and that really put me in the mood.

We've seen how good the older animated Disney movies can look, so I'm keen to see what a relatively recent classic can do on Blu.

Well, all of Disney's animated releases from The Beauty and The Beast until now were animated digitally so they should look fantastic.

I just got Ponyo in the mail today and it looks incredible. I just cannot begin to comprehend the amount of effort it took to animate all of the little details of the movie.

I know what I'm watching tonight.
Where do you order from to get them so early?

Bloody Amazon.co.uk never ship Blu-Rays till Saturday so I'm lucky to get them on Tuesday. :-/

I just watched 2012 and it was disappointing. I was expecting mind blowing special effects but it turns out to be average. The execution and acting was horrid. I found myself laughing at some of the scenes because of how ridiculous it was. 6/10. Horrible purchase.

Yeah, I was surprised too. I ordered from Zavvi just because it was the first place to put them up for preorder and the price was decent - £15.95 each, I think - and got the email that they'd shipped over a week early. I'll definitely consider using the site again.

I completely missed the announcement that Finding Nemo was coming to Blu-Ray:

1st of May in the UK apparently. The best looking Pixar movie there is, methinks.

Meh. Technically Wall-E looks superior, and art direction wise The Incredibles is probably my favorite. Never liked Nemo much, give me The Incredibles on blu-ray please.

Just watched Ponyo, and it was fantastic. I know they re-released some Miyazaki films on DVD, but are there plans to bring those to blu-ray?

The most recent speilberg movie I want the most to see on blu is munich.

Just watched ponyo last night, loved it. Movie looked great, but that beauty and the beast preview--damn!

Sweet. I'm gonna pre order as soon as it's available on Play. :)

Finally watched Ponyo last night, and it was great! My 2 yr old daughter was engaged the whole time, and I think it was the first time she's watched a whole movie without losing interest. As soon as the credits started rolling, she looked at us and said, "Watch it again?"

Got Ponyo . . . it was nice.

Wow, Princess & The Frog is coming out very soon. I'll be getting that Blu-Ray.

And I hope there is a good sale on a Toy Story 2-pack. I've already got the DVD set. :-/

Toy Story has a trailer for Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 on BRD.

I didn't even know it was coming out, so got really excited because I missed it on DVD.

Meanwhile, word has leaked out of Universal's European operations that a Gladiator: 10th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray Disc will be released in May (5/6 in Germany, 5/11 in France, 5/25 in the Netherlands, etc), timed as expected to take promotional advantage of the theatrical release of Ridley Scott's Robin Hood. The European AreaDVD site even has cover art. Sources indicate that this release includes the brand new and improved high-def transfer of the film that was recently completed in the wake of complaints about the previous BD release. We've contacted Paramount (which distributes the film here in the States for DreamWorks) to inquire about the title and a potential U.S. street date, but are still waiting on an answer. We'll let you know as soon as we hear anything.

The Fantasia sets were originally supposed to be the Feb/March Diamond releases, but they've been delayed December.

Play.com sucks. Maybe I've been spoiled by Amazon Prime, but it's been three days since I ordered my Toy Story blu-rays and they still haven't arrived. Should've just accepted the fact that Amazon was charging £2 (EDIT: £2 extra) for Toy Story 2.

Dam, i think collateral is one of those movies that is just right for HD. the tone of that movie is just sick ;0

Does anyone know if munich is ever coming to bluray? O:

Abhadhar Blu-Ray officially announced

"Avatar" will hit stores on April 22, and instead of a disc loaded with extras, it will be just the opposite -- a lean-and-mean approach with only the movie and a relatively simple menu function, a move made to exploit every bit of disc space for the top-of-the-line audio and video presentation of the film, according to the movie's producer, Jon Landau.

Thursday April 22nd. 100% bare-bones, menu only. Promised to have highest quality blu-rey presentation evahhhh!!1!1![ahem]

Landau and writer-director James Cameron will attend an March 23 press event in West Hollywood where they will discuss the release, the environmental tie-in and plans for a multi-disc "ultimate version" that will follow in November.
pretty much the same release strategy as lotr. No plans for a 3D release atm. I wouldnt expect it until late 2011 at the earliest.

I can't imagine owning that movie without the 3d - what's the point

So long as rifftrax releases an Avatar track Ill pick up the bare bones version. They always do theatrical cuts anyways.

I don't understand. What exactly is going to drive 3D in the home, if even the biggest film in history, the one most likely to spur demand and make money, can't justify a 3D release?

Why would anyone spend the extra money this year on a 3DTV?

Oh thank goodness The Notebook is finally being released in a standard blu-ray case. It was previously only available in one of those collector's editions. Those editions are such a lame ploy to try to get more people to buy.

You fucking kidding me? They expect us to shell out $20 for a "lean and mean" version? Nice way of saying "bare bones."

Do not want.
It's a 2 disc addition so I assume there's something there. The 3D McCrazy version will take too long, and I'm actually more interested in seeing the film myself, rather than behind the scenes footage. I'm glad they took this route. Pre-ordered! Together with:

Cannot wait for this one. I absolutely loved the look of this.

Because the standard isn't out in the market yet? Middle of summer is when everything seems to release (including 30million+ BD players getting the 3D update). To correct the poster before you, JC has said the 3D BD release is this November (just as he said April 22nd for first 2D edition weeks ago).

Yeah, [Dune BD is] coming at the end of April.
Thank you a thousand times!

Edit: Muad'Dib!
