The Humble Frozenbyte Bundle

This makes me mad

Indeed it is, but I feel lots of people are going to be getting those games by paying just 1c because they see the word "humble" on their news site

Some people see "humble" as "gullible".

Fuck those people.

Somebody mentioned that in the last thread and it turned into a heated thread-shitting discussion as to whether or not that constitutes piracy.
Hopefully, those same people don't show up.

That might have been me. When Wolfire announced that they were giving everyone a steam code for the original Humble Bundle, I offered mine up on GAF. I already had 5 of the 6 games on Steam, and figured that since I had bought all these games 2-3 times each, there was no harm in passing on the code I didn't need. Apparently a couple people consider that the same as piracy :/

Regarding the topic on hand. I'm not as interested in this bundle (already have trine), but I like the idea behind the HB packages, so I will probably throw $5 their way, even if I have no plans on playing the games.

Bought, just for Trine really

I see it as "oh cool, a new humble bundle. Let's buy games that I NEVER would have bought or heard about otherwise"

I paid a dollar, btw

I think I'm going to split the money down the middle between Child's Play and the Devs. If I'm activating them all on steam, should I still throw a few bucks to the operating cost of the site?

I didnt receive any download info/codes. o.o
Received the google checkout receipt but no links on there.

edit: nm, just received the codes after about 3 hours wait.

In my opinion, this is the best Humble Bundle pack yet (and what's with people complaining about the variety - it's the Frozenbyte HB pack). All games are very well done and some even come with level editors. They're up to 1/4 of a Million as of now so it looks like it's doing very well.

Didn't really get into Trine when I tried the demo a couple years ago, and not really familiar with these other games. Still, it's for a good cause, so no harm in making a donation even if I don't end up ever playing these.

Bought! you guys made it sound like it was worth it just for Trine, and i love these efforts either way/would likely join in if i had the games regardless.

I think one of these packs had a game where you controlled crash test dummies or something like that. Anyone know the name of that game? I've always wondered how that game was. I should've picked it up =/

Cortex Command

I'm not really interested in the games available. I already have Trine and Jack Claw looks cool, but concept only? C'mon.

Would I be a terrible person to just basically use this as an opportunity to make a donation to the EFF and nearly cut Frozenbyte out entirely?

I have not regretted picking up a single one of these bundles.

On the other hand, I haven't actually gotten around to playing the majority of the games I got with them. Ho hum. Oh, but I really liked Aquaria, that game was awesome.

Slap some cash down, folks, it's for charity. Every bit theoretically helps. Theoretically!

Got it....figured what the hell. I heard of Trine before, but never really knew what it was. After it downloaded, I played it for about 2 hours. Its soo good. Still need to try Jack Claw and the other alien whatever game. Looks cool though.

purchased due to

a. wanting to support this kind of marketing
b. the good responses to trine here

edit: judging by the sales details after you buy, this is a very good way to sell games

currently ~$345k sold

Just purchased it myself - don't have PC's in the family that can even run the games, but I figured wth :-)

Currently total sales at around ~USD477.000. Keep it coming Gaffers!

They gave the first bundle to people who bought the second one, and paid above the average price for it.
That only applied if you bought the bundle after that was added in.

As for this one. I guess I fall in the only want Trine (downloaded the demo from Steam, never got round to playing guess I can uninstall now) and won't have a guilty consonance about other developers getting money for games I don't want so in that respect its good.

Actually, if you bought the bundle before they added that, I think they gave you the first bundle regardless of how much you paid. I could be wrong though. Just in case, I paid $5.50 (a little more than the current average) for this bundle, so that I'll be more likely to get anything if they decide to throw some extras in for people who paid more.

I realized something crazy about these humble bundles, last night. I bought this one for $5, because I already own Trine and wasn't much interested in the others.

The realization was that if Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds Survivor were on sale on Steam for $5, I wouldn't have bought them. I wouldn't have even given the sale a second thought.

But give me the opportunity to choose to pay $5, and I'm all over it. Psychology ahoy!

It's the perceived generosity.

So, the fact the money is going to charity you don't think plays a part of that psychology? I ask because you didn't mention that part of the equation.

It's amazing many people don't even consider the charity aspect in this.

I have all the "full games" of the pack, so it will be the first Humble Dumble that I'll miss (if there is not any new inclusion).

They rushed too much to make the pack, because probably they'll need the money. But they should have wait until they have much more to offer. Offering only 3 games (one of them being a sequel that is already bundle very cheap on steam), and a very limited prototype (only windows and with a 360 controller) and a preorder of a game that nobody heard before is a big down from the previous bundles.

Instead of the previous packs, that had a great value, that one seems that they are wanting to use the charity affair to get more money than they can get from the same games on Steam (i'm not saying that this is the real objective, i don't doubt of Frozenbyte good intentions, i say that this is what it seems).

Well, in my specific case, for all three Humble Bundles I've put the charity sliders down to 0 and given everything to the developers. I have nothing against Child's Play or the EFF. I just do my charitable giving for the year separately. I usually participate in Child's Play in at least a couple other ways each year.

There's a lot of people that give *all* of their HB purchases to charity. Which is their right - that's why the sliders are there. But I like to see the developers supported for supporting this business model, so I try to balance out one of those purchasers, by giving all my $ to the devs.

I just buy games I want, period. Price factors into it, obviously, but when I bought Saint's Row 2 for 2.50€ a year or so back and got one of the worst games I ever laid hands on DESPITE praise from all sides, I decided that a low price won't ever bring me to buying a title I have no interest in again.

So there's no psychology at work on my end. I just don't want anything else but Trine out of the pack, and I have it.

I get where you're coming from though.

I hate getting summoned into threads like this.

Are the other Frostbyte games as good as Trine? Sorry for the bump but wasn't able to get on this deal before. I have Trine on the ps3 but I want it on the pc too.

Garry (Garry's mod) and notch (minecraft) going at it.
