Saw it. Really enjoyed it.

Loved the last part where Franco was talking to his dog and said
"We're going to a country that won't eat you.
Fucking lost it.

I can buy games the same day as everyone else, music the same, apps same thing. Why can't they figure out how to distribute movies and series so that I can obtain them legally around the world? How can a bunch of pirates provide a faster, better and more reliable service than these companies I wonder...

Because they likely have legal and distribution issues to go through? The UK often has a release schedule which differs from ours over here. If you think because of the delay it entitles you to pirate content, then that is a separate issue.

Yup. I found the movie got funnier and funnier the further along it went. Course it got crazier and crazier too. It's not going to win any awards without a doubt but it was fun once it embraced the craziness of what it was.

Yes, and at the end
when they said "We're calling him Kim Jong Un!" "Isn't that kinda fucked up?"

I went with very low expectations due to the Rotten Tomatoes score, but damn, I'm glad I watched the movie. Not the best movie in the world, and it really wasn't aiming to do that anyway.. Yet it provided good laughs and entertainment. Will watch again. AAAA++++++

No you can't, at least not all the time. Europe sometimes gets releases a few days earlier and vice versa. There's no reason you need to pirate it today rather than just be patient a few days.

Bought, now I'm waiting to load up the YouTube app on my PS4. Slow ass Internet at my parents.

Would be pretty funny if this movie does record numbers and further push a day 1 digital future in Hollywood. Bought my copy....

It may, but theater owners still have pull. The move I see Hollywood taking is to continue giving theaters the exclusive premieres, but shorten that window more and more over time. Theater owners could keep a bigger cut in return, as Hollywood compensates for that with on-demand rental sales.

This will play out over the next couple of decades, not just months or years.

This is a pretty good test bed for releasing movies digitally day one.

Well, considering the torrent sites have 50,000+ leechers on the most popular file right now, I would say it would be a failure. I'll wait until tomorrow or the day after here in Canada to put in my buck o five.

Naw. It's a comedy and it's getting tons of (free) positive press exposure right now. Plus you can't beat convenience. Many families at home on Christmas + Christmas eve that will rent it just to have something to watch and talk about.

Yeah one family for 5.99 vs 5 people at 10 bucks a piece. Still a loss

Look mate you are kidding if you think America doesn't get the Lions share of these things with regards to physical and digital releases of film, tv shows, music and gaming, as well as things like Steam and streaming networks, as well as many other countries getting really fucked up pricing.

I'm Australian and I'm always looking for ways I can legitimately just get what others are getting. Netflix, decent pricing on Steam, same day releases, you name it.

It's just dumb, and the sooner movie companies and games companies realise that having no respect or regard for your audience of consumers will drive us into pirating the better. And the sooner we have idiot white knighters off this forum defending multi billion dollar corps the better as well, I'm still pissed I got banned for asking where to PURCHASE watch dogs from places that released early because GAF gets its panties in a twist over the issue.

Sony hasn't even announced a release for other countries yet, so saying "wait a few days" is a joke. RIght now despite being willing to pay money to watch this movie on downtime on Christmas I can't, but I can see a lovely 1080 copy waiting to be downloaded on torrent sites within minutes. I'm not that desperate but who could really blame anyone?

IMO it 100% unequivocally, without any shred of moral ambiguity, entitles you to pirate the movie. I was going to pirate the movie until I heard Sony and Seth Rogen are working on releasing it tomorrow for Canadians.

It is frustrating when you want to open your wallet and give your money to a company and they say to your face "Get fucked, why not try living in the free and brave United States instead of your current residence?" And this is from a Japanese company, no less.

Renting tonight and watching on principle to support Sony and put a stick in the eye of north Korea. Thanks for making me aware GAF.

Was about to send glorious debit to sony, seems like they don't want my money. Guess how I am going to watch it in a couple of hours.

I dunno

how?

I like how there is always a culling of idiots who think it's OK to brag about pirating things

And I love how people from the US simply don't understand about anyone from another country wanting to do things that they can do at the same time.

What if we pirated it and literally sent a cheque to Sony US for 5.99USD and screenshotted it at the time, would that be OK?

In the end, I think people need to understand with pop culture we rule the world. Worldwide numbers have gone up rapidly in the last 4-5 years or so, be it better tracking or smarter distribution. I'm not quite sure. The point is that the priority is to tap this market and then worry about the rest.

Still, I don't think this is the best example of a Day One release. That is why I'm kind of surprised at some of the responses. I mean...I learned about the film being released minutes prior. Nothing about that sounds like a good strategy.

I've found that RT is pretty terrible when it comes to comedies. Some of my favorite comedies have really low scores there.

Overall decent movie....all those reviews had me worried....but it wasn't any less crazy and funny as any other rogan and Franco movie

Yes, Sony is purposely not releasing it to the rest of the world because they want to spite you and hope to take an even bigger loss on the movie.

Your opinion sucks. This movie has been a disaster and Sony is in shambles and you think it's moral to steal from them because they can't pull together an international release within a few days? This is a pretty unprecedented situation and they're not doing it to purposely spite you, they're making do with an awful situation.

Waiting to see if this gets a Netflix release in a few days...

I bet it will

will probably cave in and rent it from xbox one tomorrow, i still got some cash from the gamestop x facebook promo

tbh i expect the movie to be kinda corny/struggling , not going in with high expectations

They actually are going to get the release through in a few days in my country. I clearly said "I was going to pirate it until I heard Seth Rogen was working on bringing it to Canada."

I think it is very important for these corporations to realize that social media is an international phenomenon. People from Brazil, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Turkey, Russia, all want to sit down and discuss this movie. We want to pay Sony for the privilege of watching the movie but it's restricted to only the United States. From our perspective it doesn't matter the reason. All that matters is that we are paying customers and for some reason we cant pay for the movie.

Do you realize how absurd that sounds? The movie releases digitally across multiple platforms but for seemingly arbitrary reasons people outside the states, paying hard-earned money for those same platforms (desktop PCs, Xboxes, Playstations) can't buy the movie.

Do you not understand that there is various contractual reasons why they can't release it worldwide right now?
The US is the one they have the most control over so it gets released there first. Give them some time.

Arbitrary reasons like contracts and classifications and things like that? A global release is hard fucking work. Scrambling one together in a day after scrapping earlier plans is nearly impossible. The Interview is not an example of a company trying to screw you out of seeing it or being oblivious to international appeal. It's Sony being in a brutal situation.

But yeah fuck it. If they don't release it world wide within a day of each other it's okay to pirate. Sony staff had their private information leaked, they don't need to get paid either.
