The Interview(Rogen and Franco) Is On Netflix

I'll actually defend The Interview on that front. It's not perfect, but it does a far better job of humanizing the North Koreans, and even Kim Jong-Un than American Sniper does for Iraqis. Which is particularly sad because The Interview is satire and American Sniper is sold as a drama based upon a true story.

As usual in Seth Rogen comedy, main characters are ridiculed far more than anyone else. Franco is best example of this - "stupid american tv show host" role suits him perfectly and they ridicule "stupid americans" as much as they do Kim Jong Un.

But that point is lost on people who never saw it and believe crazy conspiracy theories where Sony hacked themselves to promote the show and US govt ordered the movie to take down North Korea.

Fact that last Seth Rogen comedy made $260mil from just theater showings (vs $6m for this) is marked as another conspiracy...

I just find it funny how much bull people believe.

I was surprised at just how terrible it was. By the time Seth Rogan was shoving a missle up his ass, I was on North Korea's side for trying to make sure this didn't get released.
How can you hate a movie that allowed you to string together the bolded?

Eh, I enjoyed it. It's definitely one of Rogen's weakest flicks, though. Doesn't get good until they land in North Korea, so those first 20-25 minutes can be a damn chore.

I found it more entertaining than the majority of new movies Netflix adds nowadays. It seems they've damn near abandoned movies in favor of television series.

I thought it was a decent movie. I think the high point was
David going into the fake grocery store and tearing the fruit apart. Surprised there weren't any guards around.
, as well as
the slow-mo destruction of the helicopter
.

Don't think I'll watch it, doesn't really appeal to me at all, people just seem to be seeing it because of all the controversy, I don't think I'd like the movie.

My friends and I watched it purely because "North Korea doesn't want us to". It turned out to be pretty decent and we laughed plenty of times but its very "low brow" as another poster mentioned.

Watched it a few hours ago, really fucking funny, much better than This Is the End, I'll buy this on blu-ray not out muria but cause it's actually very good.

I hated 'this is the end', but I thought Interview was a pretty funny movie.
As long as you don't hype it up as something more than it is I think you're guaranteed to have some laughs. I think a lot of the detractors had really high expectations due to all the controversy surrounding the movie.

I actually liked how Lil Kimmy was surprisingly a bro and that entire tank scene to Katy Perry was the best.

This too really, hell I actually felt sorry for Kimmy Un because Park's performance was really damn good.

Its okay with few standout moments

Honestly one of the weakest links I thought was Franco. His bits and comedic timing is sort of all over the place and a lot of the time it doesn't work.

Franco was a little off, but he did deliver some good lines, I thought.

Overall it was alright, I thought.

I thought it was dumb and funny. Stayed in it's lane. Knew exactly what it was trying to be (stupid and funny) and didn't drag things out longer than they needed to be. I was entertained.

That movie was terrrrriiibblle. I enjoyed Pineapple Express and This is The End, but this one just wasn't funny. The jokes and bits just fall flat.

I actually quite enjoyed it. It was pretty fun. Had some "so stupid it's funny" moments that worked for me.

"Wait, the tiger has night vision goggles?!"

Yeah, I legit fucking laughed.

Finally watched it, and I enjoyed it. Franco's characters started getting annoying but he kind of redeemed himself in the end with his actions. And yeah, I really enjoyed Randall Park in this movie as well.

I think I'm about 40 minutes in and Franco is ruining the movie.

I have little idea who his character is even supposed to be referencing..Plus, his role is just not funny. Who's he supposed to be?
Morton Downey Jr.???

Rogen's role is decent and funny so far.

Thought it was fucking hilarious. Liked it way more than I was expecting to. Lizzy Caplan is the hottest woman I have ever seen. That CIA scene in their apartment. Wow.

This was terrible. I loved Pineapple Express and This is the End but I just couldn't get into this. The only bit that I chuckled at was the
fight in directors room.

I thought the movie was better earlier on and would have been better without the NK stuff.

The whole fake interviews thing was a lot funnier imo like gay Eminem or bald Rob Lowe. They could have made a movie and a better one on that concept alone.

It was ok, and the actual controversy was more entertaining and intriguing than the movie itself.

Also Lizzy Caplan is damn fine.

That moment where Franco says
"So why don't you feed them?"
was the most "oh snap" scene I've seen in a long time. You could feel the tension coming out of the screen.

I have little idea who his character is even supposed to be referencing..Plus, his role is just not funny. Who's he supposed to be?
Morton Downey Jr.???

He's your stereotypical Stupid American.

It's really interesting to see the difference of opinion in this thread. It seems like so many people have so many varying wants/desires when watching a film.

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed it. My girlfriend and I watched it last night and had quite a few laughs. We both also loved Pineapple Express and This is the End. I guess if you like this stoner comedy humor, it will probably serve you well. Some parts I especially enjoyed

When he meets with the FBI and goes on his tangent about the tell all book. Also when Seth Rogen assumes that they think he is gay and brought in a dude to honeydick him.

The tiger fight, specifically when Franco thinks the tiger is wearing night vision goggles.

The scene where Rogen loses a finger, bites off the other guys finger only to have the guy come back and bite of a second finger.

Its not a perfect movie, but it did make me laugh quite a bit. That is all you can hope for from something like this. Regardless, Franco's acting was pretty hilarious. You can tell he was just trying to ham it up as much as possible, I don't know how you could hate him.
