The Japanese are lining up again... this time for Vita preorders

Why the fuck are you in this topic saying the same shit other people have mentioned?
It's pretty hard to go into a 145 post thread and not mention something that has been mentioned before.

Man, these "bu bu bu Gaf said..." Posts are spreading like a disease. They're getting more obnoxious than the "doomed" posts.

This happens a lot, people are very sensitive. I remember when I made a thread about Nintendo's decline it lead to endless " lol Nintendo is doomed posts" even though that's not what I said. Anyways I was ultimately proven to be right.

Damn so many of them want that shitty battery life system, 3-5 hours of battery life is fucking unacceptable for the price IMO, I will wait until it's improved and the price goes down...

I think I'll buy the WiFi model since I don't play my games when I'm out in public.

Have you played a 3DS? It was quoted the same but it seems to last a lot longer than that. I think the company is just stating the minimum so people can't blame them for lying.

No worse than lining up for an expensive product only slightly better than the one you already own.

ZING!

Impressive, I really want this to do well in all regions. It really deserves to, I know I'm ready.

Yeah, I can't fathom why they're lining up for the 3DS.

32gb card at #2... this is why sony do such things, dat profit margin!

Makes me hesitant about getting a Vita now though. I don't want to get a small one, and a 16 gig card for the Vita translate roughly to $71 and change in the US. That means I'm at $320 and I haven't even bought a game yet. :(

No doubt Sony is making a killing $$$ wise off of these things though. Supposedly the 32 gig model translates to around $145 US. LOL

Vita selling lots can only be good for everyone. Sony fans will get more support on their platform, and if the Vita sells beyond expectations, it'll force Nintendo to be even more agressive with the 3DS' development, much to their fans' benefit.

True. Competition is great for us consumers.

Didn't even realize preorders went up here yesterday..by the time I checked Amazon it was donezo. I'm sure one of my local stores will be no issue to preorder at. Also don't get the reaction over Japanese lining up to get new hardware. People lined up in NYC for the 3DS..or now for the new iPhone.. or how many countless midnight lines are there for games like Gears or Halo..

Well this isn't really surprising.

You know what will be surprising? An long line for Xbox 720 preorders in Japan (did the 360 get a line in Japan?).

With 3D and wifi enabled? Thing lasts 3 hours TOPS

I wonder how many units they'll manage to ship/manufacture this year.
They vaguely suggested that they want to sell at least 500k units in December but who knows...

In the midst of their desperation, who knows how big Nintendo's baksheesh to Capcom was and it's not like there was any semblance of transparency in the whole "jump ship" process.

But Capcom's greed will be their undoing.
No it won't. :lol

What are Japan's preorder policies? Will they only take orders for the units they will get at launch or will just keep taking orders for future shipments?

I'm way past doomed, it's already on another plane of non relevance.
What if Medarot vita was announced?

Hehehe, always love the pics/videos from launch. So many people. XD

Hope it does well anyway, but sadly this is no evidence of how things might be; or Amazon for that matter.
I mean, Amazon currently shows Uncharted Vita atop of Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Final Fantasy Type-0. And as much as I'd love to see Uncharted outselling them both..combined, it won't even sell half of Type-0. :p

But there's no doubt that the Vita's going to sell, anyone that doubts it is well...not blind since that would be an insult to blind people....close minded maybe..? :p

From what I remember, they get a specific number at first per store (i.e. first 1,000 people or something). They usually (always?) get a few more anyway; but depends on the store/area more than anything. Plus preorders are free (from what others have said); so it's a matter of just been there early (hence the lines) to preorder one.

...So, what do you mean?
Sorry, I'm not understanding what you're saying. Sorry XD

He is saying that 1200 people showing up for an ACTUAL release is not the same as 1200 people showing up for PRE-ORDER. The Vita numbers is more impressive because they are pre-ordering not buying.

well i will give you an discount and sell you 32 GB for $140... ok? Since you are translating the prices anyway.

just like you wont pay $100 for PS3 games in US, you wont pay at "translated" prices either.

It's not about Japanese people enjoying lining up or whatever (lol). It's basically that there are a select few locations that are almost guaranteed to have a few hundred units each, so everyone who wants to ensure getting one on launch day flocks to these places. Nobody knows what the situation will be like afterwards, so if you really want one at launch, this is the safest, best way to lock yourself in.

Those who can't get preorders can usually line up launch morning as well and nab a system that way. Might have to start lining up earlier tho, or sometimes even the night before.

I got in line around 5am (store opened at 7am), and was around #100 or so. There were 600+ people at my location (Yodobashi Shinjuku) by the time I went home.

I forgot about the preorders yesterday; I was too busy nursing a hangover. I went down to the local Wonder Goo after dinner and reserved a 3G model with the 100 hour deal, but I was warned that I might not get it since they don't know yet how many the store will get.

Too bad I missed the opening of the store, since it would have been interesting to see how long of a line there was for a shop outside of Tokyo. When I picked up my 3DS there (not preorder, launch day), there was about 30 or 40 people in line.

3-5 was the same as the PSP...

Also, right now, the iPhone is competing against the Vita (especially with the people who buy infinity blade). Games like Infinity Blade get's like 1 hour or so on the iPhone, so 3-5 hours isn't that bad... Perfect for subway rides and whatnot. If you need to play longer on a plane or something, get one of those portable battery packs.
