Am I the only one that thinks that it looks extremely boring.
Will probably FLOP saleswise if it turns out to be a heavy puzzle game, because if theres no GUNS theres no money.
Fucking sales-age people...

F- in terms of troll attempt. Too obvious, especially with the last sentence.

Plus, using your junior account (with barely pronounceable name) to do it? Laaaame. Use your main account if you want a big impact.

In the end, the little boy transforms into one of those creatures, Cat-birdimus Prime style.

I can't believe the actual game will have that image quality, no way in hell.

But then again Gow3 and Uncharted 2 and kz3 happened, so...HYPE.

Sweet MERCIFUL lord this looks gooD!

Only thing this needs it creamy animation and I'm DTF. 2012 seems like a given at this point tho :(

I'm banking on this being a stealth game plus the adorable kitten to hopefully attract some sales too.

if Heavy Rain can defy expectation and be successful sales wise, I hope The Last Guardian can too.

they're preparing ICO/SOTC HD remake in cheaper price to let people know what kind of games this dev make. I wonder if that will ultimately attract more people in or make people shy away from TLG.

Am I the only one that preferred the really washed out, lower contrast look of the game originally?

Not to say it doesn't still look gorgeous.

It's always looked like this in these areas, the outdoor and cave areas will still have that look.

Son... I am hype!

I'd love to play this game this year, but if it gets delayed until for whatever reason, I won't be too shocked.

Some things I noticed from watching the Ico and SotC videos:

- The excellent depth fog effect in Ico is there, this effect is missing in pcsx2 emulator.
- SotC looks to be 60FPS, Ico 30FPS. Even though the videos are encoded in 30FPS, you can tell that the camera pans are much smoother in SotC video.
- There doesn't seem to be any harsh volumetric shadow edges in SotC like there was in the original game and the emulator (like when the Colossus moves in and out of shadow, you could clearly see the edge of the shadow volume on it)
- The particles have soft clipping with the ground, I'm not sure if this was in the original SotC, probably was.
- Particles are arranged differently in some of the scenes. When the 1st colossus falls down, there doesn't seem to be as much dust particles enveloping it as there was in the original (I watched a video from the original) Could be just a different place where it falls though. In the new HD remake, there's more dust particles enveloping its legs in the little cutscene that introduces 1st colossus.

This may be due to the motion blur. I have a feeling they're keeping it to 30FPS, but I guess we'll need direct feed footage first to be sure.

The pop-in is a real shame though.

SotC is 30fps, confirmed by Ueda himself.
I knew he confirmed it for Ico. Unless there was something new mentioned lately, at the time he was talking about Ico being 30, he never mentioned SotC then.

The kid needs a light saber and the rodent should be turned into an android. That's the plot twist of this game. It actually takes place on earth 4000 years from now.

The game sounds boring.

Srsly, he needs to stop to put so much detail on the rodent and focus more on the gameplay. If I want to see real pet behavior, I would get a real pet ffs, now put some combat into the game already

Hating on Ueda / TLG? Sounds like someone's looking for a ban...

I could have sworn that he said both would be running at a locked 30FPS, since that's what they were originally designed for. Hand-keyed animations look better when running at the framerate for which they were designed.

SotC was confirmed to be 30fps. I distinctly remember his announcement because a lot of GAFers were saying "60 fps or nothing" and were thoroughly disappointed.

shame that there is no new footage of TLG :( also im not entirely keen on the way the boy turns into a glow stick when in the sunlight.... the lighting really screws him up :(

Jesus, the SoTC video is amazing. Something about the hand made animations are just so fluid on a level that even games like Uncharted don't reach. It's like comparing a classic Disney film to modern computer animated stuff. The fluidity is like more fluid than real life, it's crazy.

The Team Ico Collection, and The Last Guardian need to come out yesterday.

PSblog

Hello everyone,

I consider myself a man of culture and understanding, but I will fight you with fists if you disagree that Ico is the best game made on any system from any time. It just is. So I was particularly excited to visit the studio of Team Ico for a look at their latest game, The Last Guardian, and an interview with chief creative director Fumito Ueda, all of which you can see in this week’s FirstPlay

they one new pic that show that the horn are glowing blue now

Character Growth
It looks like the boy will grow through the course of the game. I'm not sure if Ueda is speaking about getting stronger in a gameplay sense, or if he means the boy will mature as part of the story. Regardless, the character will not grow in such a way that he'll be able to defeat the guards.

Torico's Interests
The press demo showed Torico appearing to be more interested in things like barrels and jars rather than the boy. Torico will move to the things that interest him most. He won't just interact with the boy because he's there. However, if you improve your communication with Torico, his interest in the boy will grow, and he may end up placing greater focus on the boy.

One example of the growing relationship can be seen when Torico is asleep. If the boy attempts to awaken Torico by by pulling on his ears, Torico won't rise. This is because he's uninterested in the boy. However, if their relationship grows, you'll be able to use this technique to wake Torico up.

Details
As Ueda has indicated in other interviews, they're putting a lot of effort into the various motions of Torico. You'll see different reactions from Torico depending on which ear you touch. You can make Torico sneeze by touching his nose. And so forth.
