LATIN, MATRIPEDICABUS, DO YOU SPEAK IT
Trailer link (HD Youtube). Film made its debut at this year's Slamdance Festival.

It looks awesomely bad. :lol

Rated: NR
Director: Henry Saine
Writer: Devin McGinn
Genre: Comedy | Horror

Plot: "Jeff is an ordinary guy that is stuck at a dead end job with a boring life, but when a strange old man gives him an Ancient relic and tells him that he is the last bloodline of H.P. Lovecraft, He and his friend Charlie embark on an adventure to protect the relic piece from falling into the hands of the Starspawn and his minions that wish to reunite the relic and release Cthulhu back into the world."

Supposedly the film got distributors for both North America and internationally, no definitive dates though.

WTF is this? I'd love to see a Lovecraft movie from somebody like Guillermo Del Toro (without him writing the script...it's his weakness) or David Lynch.

I've always been surprised that Lovecraft hasn't been mined for monster/horror movies more often.

I guess in a way I'm glad as the likelyhood of anyone getting it right in Hollywood is near zero.

I'm sure we would wind up with Michael Bay slowmo Cthulhu being fought by a zany group of heroes with rockets or something.

and a quick check of wiki tells me that the late 80's/early 90's mined a ton of Lovecraft titles for B movies with no real relation to the Lovecraft novel.

Why Hollywood continues to pay for the namesake of a book and then make whatever they want anyway I will never understand.

Del Toro really wants to do one, and I really hope that he gets the chance

:lol Who the hell sat around and said, "Hey, this Lovecraft stuff is good... but where are the STONERS?"
You can apply that to several other movie plots probably.

Damn, Del Toro would be perfect for a Lovecraft film.
