The Last of Us - Multiplayer trailer

Looks like something ill actually play.
Considering I don't play MP much that's a feat.
Though it'll depend on how the game goes. Hoping for a more tactical approach like the original gears where battles between teams were epic as hell.

I guess I'm in the minority when I say that I find it's better to have less game modes than 50 bajillion different ones. For 1.) it splits the playerbase and 2.) it's makes for really crappy balance for a lot of games because there's just too many variables to actually get it right, (see normal mode vs. hardcore mode gametypes.) It might be tacked on or it could be a refined game mode that gets 100% of the attention instead of 5% of the attention like in other games that have just way too many.

Hmmm...Looks like a third person shooter to me. The crafting makes me realize that I'd love to see a modern looking (but not too graphics heavy) zombie/minecraft game. Run around the city breaking into walmarts and homedepots to cobble together weapons and shore up whatever run down base you are defending. Would have to be first person and a lot of the console's resources (and the cloud) dedicated to making the world persistent and interactive.

DAY Z

Never played online in my life, but from what I've watched, I'm prepared to jump in. I like the slow and brutal feel of it, and it looks beautiful. I'm ready to defend my supplies!!!

stolen shamelessly for Metal gear solid online

And it worked perfectly. I'm tired if the random chaos in multiplayer.

MGO was awesome. But monomania and other SOP hacking made sense in MGS like the e.locators, here it doesn't really.

I assume this feature will reduce camping during the games, it looks very slow paced.

I agree with that, but at the same time they perhaps should have also attempted a coop mode or something instead of having basically a single game mode (or two if you get technical). So many games with ton of modes are often wasted and player base abandons them often.

It looks fun and more akin to unique MP games like MGO and Uncharted, but still not at all like what I had in mind. Kind of a missed opportunity, I wanted something more deliberately paced and restrained.

Now that I think about it, it would be cooler if your two groups were fighting each other and the noise will attract a group of infected to the area, then with your limited supplies you're forced to fight the opposing group as well as the infected to reap all the benefits or work together to survive the match against the infected.

I would probably be okay with just two modes if one of them was a co-op mode of some sort. But both modes being a deathmatch-type is just a little odd to me.

Thank you. MGO was a hidden gem that didn't get enough love. This is the closest thing to MGO that I see. This is going to be one of the best MP experience on PS3 this year. Believe it!

I wish you wouldn't remind me about it. Man, I'd love for all of the servers to come back up.

I'm not even mad that all of my DLC investments were rendered void.

Apparently, you can switch that off for the campaign. It might translate over to multiplayer.

In the campaign I guess I would like it to be there. I applaud Naughty Dog for doing something with a radically different feel from Uncharted. I just wonder if it's going to feel like a parody of itself after playing a couple of rounds of multiplayer and the shock-factor has subsided. But yeah, it's looking good and probably something I will play a lot more of than eg. the MP for Tomb Raider.

Camping in Uncharted 3 maps isn't entirely possible. You can have a one-sided team match camping a particular section of a map.

Playing UC3/UC2 MP the Wall hack was a user upgrade perk bonus or a battle mode where the other dominating team were exposed for the loser team to see them all for a small duration.

No way naughty dogg is stupid enough to introduce a game breaking wall hack off the bat.

Some satisfying kills, to be sure.

Looks sooooooooooooo fun. Can't wait, day one for sure. Me and my buddies are gonna have some fun with this thing. Looks fresh. Still really disappointed in no coop, what the hell ND?

Unfortunately, I think the death of MGO was that it was tied to a game made famous by a heavy story-focused single player, and also because the online interface was incredibly complicated to navigate.

If it works like it is supposed to, and everyone is indeed kind of forced into more of a deliberate pace, then I will damn sure enjoy it more than the next kill, die, respawn, kill, die, respawn, rinse and repeat bum-rush-fest where everyone is running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

Except from the fucking listening mode and no co op vs infected, it looks pretty fun.

Won't spend much time on it, but a few hours of fun.

I'm assuming this does not allow 2 people to play online on the same console (split screen) like U2/U3?

I can't watch the trailer right now.

I miss MGO and being one of the few everyone welcome rooms back in the day.
I never cared about winning or points. I just wanted to play some MGO.

Exactly. I cared about playing MGO and I cared about teamwork. I had so many great moments with fellow GAF members rushing in to play in a clusterfuck servers. It was a mess but it was a fun mess.

Can MP games ever be fun again without trying to be so generic? I hope so, and I hope this game is.

I don't think so. The death of MGO2 was always going to happen as KojimaProductions said they were only planning to have the servers live for 2 years. But because of the continued support and the amount of people that ended up playing the game, they decided to delay the closure.

People wanting more MGO should just wait patiently for MGO3, it's going to be good. Until then you have Peace Walker versus, not as good but it's fairly decent for a PSP game.

Impressive but I think ND may have oversold it prior to release. This looks like PvP+Spartan Ops.

No doubt with its crafting mechanics and other yet to discovered features, this will be fun and should have longer legs than prior ND MP.

Naughty Dog, or one guy who happens to work at Naughty Dog? I think there's a pretty significant difference here.

There is talk of it coming to PS4 after it releases on PC. Hope it's true.

Wasn't there talks of a standalone version for the PS4?

Yeah, but I imagine with it still being in Alpha and a release date for the standalone PC version not even set, that's a ways off unfortunately. Should be playable in some form at E3 though from what I've read, so definitely interested in seeing the progress.
