The last time you bought a Strategy Guide?

The last strategy guide I bought was for Resident Evil 4 for GameCube back in 2005. I also had one for Resident Evil Remake and Soul Calibur 2 (I regret owning the latter since the game was too complex for me to get any better at).

Some pokemon guides and some final fantasy guides. The last one will have been for diamond about 7 years ago. Even though you can find them online some of them are still really nice things to own, the FF guides in particular.

About a month ago. Dark Souls 2. It's the only game, where I justify spending the money because of just how well made they are. Prior to that, it was the MGS1 guide, which is also incredibly well made. I did get a few Prima strategy guides for RE2 and Dino Crisis because I wanted to see everything on those games. Other than those, I just use the internet.

I buy all the Zelda strategy guides cos they gorgeous.

I hope OoT is the green one =)

I remember wanting this guide so badly as a kid, which is weird because I never wanted any other strategy guide
except for the older Pokemon handbooks, how awesome were they
. It actually ended up being really useful as it had all kinds of information and maps.

It's a shame i lend it to a friend and his brother lost it :(

I'm sorry to break it to you but your friends brother didn't lose it. He kept that shit
I stole a super mario sunshine guide from my best friend

Last guide I bought was this

All because of that bloody hospital level. Not a few days later I decided to do some google searching (probably because the guide wasn't helping) and I found my first forum where there where people not only making guides but discussing it! It was so revolutionary to me that other people had the same interests. I'm still with that wonderful site.

Dark Souls 2 but i haven't really checked it. i bought it to support ENB and AGS. there's also good lore stuff in it that i will read after i finish the game.

Bought the Dark Souls II collectors edition guide last Tuesday. I collect strategy guides, but only buy them for my favorite games. Every game I own a guide for has to be worthy of staying in my collection. I don't use them to play the game initially, but I love using them for a second play through to find any secrets I have missed or collectibles etc.

Bought Dark Souls 2 guide with the game. Also bought the DS1 guide too when I got it. Their really nice books. Heavy glossy paper and hardback. Not some crappy paperback. About the only thing I use it for is maps when I'm hunting items and crafting. I would rather play the game myself than look ahead but in this case its part of my Souls ritual now. I don't buy other guides anymore. The Internet has enough info of I get stuck.

That one was the last one I got as a gift when I was younger, didn't use it much but it had a lot of information.

I bought the Pokemon Black White 2 one because it was $12, not sure why I did lol.

Also bought FFXIII-2, it was $5.

I bought the Dark Souls 1 strategy guide. Then From/Bamco proceeded to make it completely obsolete with numerous patches. Never again!

I just bought the Dark Souls 2 guide (won't use till im done with my first playthrough) and I bought Ni No Kuni before that...I get them mostly because they're just beautiful books, and interesting to read through.

Never. The last time I used one was N64 Era for Ocarina of Time, I borrowed it from a friend. Online guides and youtube walkthroughs have absolutely murdered the utility of a strategy guide.

That was the last one I bought... OoT. Don't even know why I bought it. I generally never used strategy guides and still today I don't really look stuff up.

I think FFX. It was really well done and helped me not just quit the game during some ridiculously hard boss battles.

Well I got the FFXIII one for free if that counts. Still haven't finished the game and probably never will.

Pokemon Diamond & Pearl. And I swore never to buy a guide again because this one had info on postgame content in a separate guide that released 2 months later. Thank god for the internet.

I fucking knew it! I'm so going to see him as soon i get out of here! I want my guide back!

I bought the Ni no Kuni guide for the exclusive monster DLC it came with. Before that, I can't even remember since it's been so long.

2007 - when Nintendo Power stopped making them.

Nintendo Power made awesome strategy guides.
I didn't even really use them for playing through the games, I just loved reading them.

I just found this guide again for the Outbreak online revival. Are you on there too?

I just bought the Dark Souls II CE one. Great little purchase.

Oh and I just received my King's Field IV Ancient City guide in the mail.

god I think maybe XenoSaga? I don't remember lol. Stopped buying them after creating a gamefaqs account years and years ago.

This is the last one I remember buying in any case. Oh wait no I literally just remembered I bought the final fantasy 13 guide for some reason. Guess I needed straight path maps lol.

Anyways I remember the sonic guide being useful for chao garden stuff. I didn't have good internet at that time.

Soul Calibur IV.

A few months before that I got one for Mario Kart Wii.
But, that was a promo item. I didn't really buy it. Freeee.

I cannot believe some people didn't buy any strat guides as a naive kid. Crazy! The internet wasn't always there. Just seeing a neat little book for your fave game that unlocks all the secrets! And, even if I already knew everything most of the time they were interesting to read.

Or, just wanting everything that your game has to offer. Hmmm.

I can probably count the amount of guides I've got over the years with both hands (I don't need no feet!), but still.
