So there is a second guy somewhere in the video playing the game with a gamepad and the guy with the stylus is just pretending?Calidor said:of course, the touchscreen while applied to games like Ouendan, Kirby CC, etc is perfect. But on Zelda it just doesn't work.. like Amirox said you are not even controlling Link, just draggim him.

At least we have Twilight Princess to calm the woes of some haters here.

Instead of pushing the D-Pad to walk, I drag a butterfly and he follows. Instead of tapping a button to attack, I tap the enemy. Instead of holding down the B button to twirl attack, I draw a circle. Etc, etc, etc. I know you think I'm hating, but really, what am I missing? All of that is just different methods of performing the same shit.Magicpaint said:I like how you KNOW the controls aren't doing anything better even without playing the game or knowing about all of the control input methods and applications. It's a really open minded mentality. My bad.
I'm not saying one can't be skeptical, I even said that addng traditional controls as an option won't hurt, but I think a lot of people, like yourself (no amir0x even) are just blowing it out of proportion. Given nintendo's track record with the franchise, one would think you'd have a little more faith in them. Instead of going with the knee-jerk reaction route.
If it's different then it's bad for the franchise!

And it's not about different being bad, it's about me not wanting different because it sounds lame. It's different for different's sake. It doesn't matter how good Nintendo is if it's forced. And that's how I feel. And considering Zelda is not only my favorite Nintendo franchise, but one of my favorites in general, I think this stinks. I just want Zelda the way I like it.

Amir0x said:Listen, I respect your opinion... and others. But I love Zelda how it is, not with ridiculous butterfly fairy dragging touchscreen controls.

it's in a treasure box! Why keep a shiny key in a treasure box unless it can be called 'phat lewt'!

elostyle said:For a better example, just look at Rayman DS which even has an analogue stick image on the touchscreen to make it clear.
elostyle said:I'll say it again, the control scheme is very similar to an analogue stick. If you have a gamepad attached to your computer, just go to the control panel and look at the configuration dialog. It maps the analogue stick movement into a square and even has a little * character which would be where navy is in zelda. The PH controls are not more indirect. It only looks that way because of the top down perspective.

Yes it was. Mainly because it wasn't top down like this (and because the virtual stick wasn't where the player is, not even on the same screen).Amir0x said:and that was balls to the wall awful to control?
Damn straight man, I can't wait. Yet I'm so scared of when it will end. It'll be almost like the series (traditional style) swan song. I'ma be in tears throughout the entire game, and wake up at 2AM screaming 'LINK DON'T LEAVE ME!'.Magicpaint said:Well, there's still the GC version of TP for you.![]()

I think you would and therefor would say to give it a chance.Amir0x said:Well, hey, maybe I will end up enjoying Zelda: The Dragging Butterfly Fairy Adventure at the end... who knows! I just don't think so.

psycho_snake said:If there really isnt going to be an option between playing with the dpad and using the touchscreen then I'd be very pissed off. I cant see why they cant give us the option, it will only make the game more accessible and people will be able to choose the control scheme they are most comfortable with.
...It's just a videogame.Heian-kyo said:Damn straight man, I can't wait. Yet I'm so scared of when it will end. It'll be almost like the series (traditional style) swan song. I'ma be in tears throughout the entire game, and wake up at 2AM screaming 'LINK DON'T LEAVE ME!'.

Im not saying that its rubbish, but why not give people the option of how to control the game when its easy to do so? Im glad that Nintendo are trying to come up with new ways to control a game, but Im not to happy that they're willing to not give the gamers the option of using the dpad when its very possible to do so.snatches said:First impressions can be a bitch.
