The LG G3 |Android OT| of Wanting Nice Things and Getting Them

Like other android phones i've seen they have an ultra battery saving mode that makes the battery last at least a full day. The phone turns to black and white and you can only use 6 apps.

Don't suppose there's anything like this on the phone or an app? I already use the 15% battery saver but it only makes it last another hour at most.

How do I even turn off the 15% battery saver?
Everytime my phone hits 5% it turns off the brightness, which is super annoying. And at 15% it vibrates, notifying me of the battery which is also annoying.

How can that all be turned off?

There is a huge bug in Lollipop for the Verizon G3. When on wifi, most notifications won't come through and many Google services, such as Gmail, won't background sync. When you go off of wifi, all the notifications you missed may come through in one shot.

Given that Verizon updates are slower because they supposedly have more rigorous testing, hard to believe this made it through.

It's a very intrusive issue. Enough that I'd recommend people not to upgrade.

Wow, you're right. That's crazy. I was wondering why, when I accidentally left my phone in my bedroom for hours, I didn't have any notifications at all when I came back to get it.

This is why you never update at the first chance. Im glad I was able to hold myself in check.

AT&T is pushing an update to the G3. It enables VOLTE!!!

Downloading now!

Is there a chance that Verizon will push 5.1 out within the next year or so? I really want lollipop but impressions for 5.01 aren't to promising

EDIT:Woah verizon is that how we gonna play this "Update or we will notify you to update every 24 hours"

Yea lollipop on Verizon is terrible. I updated to 23a manually a while back, and WiFi was super slow, it just took forever to connect to anything. After messing with my router settings and nothing helping I finally reverted back to 12b.

Once the official 23b release came out I denied installing it after hearing it still had WiFi issues and after a few days it left me alone. Now it asks you constantly to update and a couple days ago I accidentally accepted the update with my palm or something, and low and behold the WiFi is still garbage. Everything just takes forever to load. My notification light also blinks even though I have no notifications. I'm gonna do a factory reset and see if that helps, and if it doesn't it's back to 12b and hoping I can find a way to stop the phone from asking me to update.

So I'm looking at grabbing this phone as a replacement for my shitty HTC One S. Probably the 3GB ram version since I'll be able to get it for free on a 2yr. Anything I should know before I make my purchase? The biggest reason for my upgrade is the fact that I am sick of micro managing my storage space on my current phone.

Enjoy it. Amazing phone.

Yes. The screen is qHD and the snapdragon 801 has a bit of trouble handling it.

I don't even know what qHD means. Isn't HD just a 720P resolution or better? What does the Q mean?

The G3s screen is 2560x1440, so almost twice the resolution of 1080p. The phone has amazing battery life until you start using it and then it becomes simply decent. If this phone was 1080p I think it would be better for it.

v Yeah what he said 2560x1440 is 4 times the pixels as 1280x720.

Quad HD. Only the full size LG G3's processor can handle its resolution.

Jesus Christ. So it has a better resolution than my 50' plasma? Why?

I've got a note 3. I'm thinking up upgrading to the g4. My note 3 has been shit ever since Lollipop. Shit battery, shit stability, and shit changes that I don't like.

Should I do it? Phone is $600 on t-mobile and comes with a 128gb micro sd card

Why not? :)

It's just stunning to look at. Everything is so clear in comparison to any other phone on the market.

Battery doesn't really suffer from it. Two days ago I went to bed, phone was at 67% and I forgot to plug it in. Woke up 9 hours later, it was at 63%.

14 hours later, bedtime again, and it was down to 33% with regular texting, email checks, and some other misc stuff.

Yeah but that resolution also slows everything down.

There isn't much that can be done about it really.

I really hate how the official wireless charger makes the phone rest on its bottom so you cannot use headphones. Is this on purpose? Should I not hear music while wirless charging?

Not probably. Be sure to get the 3GB version!

I got one! And it def was the 3GB version. So what should I download on it? I'm so excited to load it up since I had no space on my previous phone. Downloaded Hearthstone.

Is there going to be a separate thread for the LG G4? I am looking into getting it as my next phone and want early buyer's opinions.

I've had the G4 since last week. I got the T-mobile leather one. Coming from an xperia Z3, this phone is great. The battery life isn't as good as the Z3 but the camera is fooking amazing! And the leather feels/ looks good. The build quality isn't as substantial as the Z3 but it's good. Not great but good. And considering they're offering 128 GB micro sd card, an extra battery, a travel charger, and another 32 gb microsd card the purchase was a no brainer for me!

Guys, I got a problem.
I'm connecting my phone to my Windows 7 desktop through USB, but it doesn't turn up in the finder. I have tried installing the latest drivers from LG's website, but that doesn't help either.

What can I do?
Because I need to transfer some files to my phone.

That happened to me too. Try with Google's USB drivers, if that doesn't work then right click the device in the Device Manager, click on Update Driver and then....I'm on my phone so can't really check, but I think you click on the option where you get to pick the driver from a list and there you choose USB composite driver.

Need to check again when I get home, but you could just google usb composite driver and there should be a tutorial somewhere.

Thank you!
Right now, I'm following this guide, while I am downloading the driver.

[edit]
Ugh, can't get it to work. Can't find the driver, when I'm manually looking for it through the Device Manager.
I'm choosing the USB driver folder but it can't find anything in there.

TMobile pushed a new update and now my phone is really sluggish. Fuck.

Mine was too until I disabled/uninstalled Lookout and stopped notifications for just about every app. You just have to do a little cleaning and the phone is just as fast as usual.

I still haven't figured this out.

Isn't there somewhere on the phone, where I have to choose "connect as media device" or something, for it to be recognized in Windows?

AT&T version here and still using 4.4.2
The update tool says my device is up to date, so I guess I'll be stuck in 4.4.2 unless I decide to install a [custom] ROM.

Any advice? What's the best Lollipop ROM for this phone?

Sprint just pushed an update. About 150mb. Didn't say for what. Is it the same as the one I saw for verizone about restoring part of the backup restore feature thing?

This guide just doesn't work at all. =(

Can someone help me, get my Windows Explore to recognize my LG G3?

It don't even wanna install the latest LG G3 driver from the official website. And the finder can't find any driver in my "google driver" folder. Getting really frustrated about this.

So, my G3 was one that was updated to 5.0.1 a while back. This morning it promotes me to update again. On Verizon. Any idea what this is? Will it help to 5.0.1 issues?
