The Magic School Bus Rides Again trailer

you sour old fuckers, lmao

My brother in law worked on this production. This is what kid's tv looks like nowadays (not that the original was some sort of marvel of animation).

I just have to accept everything is going to be in Flash now

ITT, people who haven't watched TMSB in 15 years and thus don't realize the animation was ALWAYS awful. It's just a new kind of awful.

Going to let my kids try watching it when it's out to see if they like it. I'm all for more educational shows even if the animation quality is iffy at times.

I dislike the art style, but it's also not targeted at my demographic.
That being said, I hope it teaches kids to like learning like the original did for me.

The animation looks like shit. The original show looks much better. Sad that an animated show in the 90s looks way better than a show from 2017.

Wow, since the original trailer was made private I was dreading what you were all making such a fuss about. But seeing the mirror (thanks, Enzom21), y'all are crying over nothing. The animation style isn't great, but its not worth making such a fuss about. It's fine for what it is.

So is Elder Frizzle making cameo appearances?

What's going to happen to the creepy lizard?

Looks like Liz goes with the new Friz while OG Friz gets some sort of monkey companion.

While you're right and this is what kids tv looks nowadays (like someone already brought up the feel of DC's Super Hero Girls), the old series was above the average back in the day.

Show looks... good. Don't see the doom and gloom from those nostalgic of the original tv series, this one looks fun and serviceable as an educational cartoon. Then again, I didn't grow up with the original TV series cause I think I was already in high school by then. Did read (and like) some of the books in the late 80s, though.

It also looks like OG Friz gets a Magic School Bus Vespa bike.

Is...is Magic School Bus a brand? Is the vespa it's child? Someone give me some Magic School Bus Lore. What exactly are we looking at here? Magic School Vehicles?

The remarks in here are puzzling. Is animation supposed to be shitty for kids or something? Are kids undeserving of decent quality art?

Lmao, half the shows I have to sit and watch when taking care of my nephews is poorly animated flash looking stuff. This is fine. Nostalgia is one thing, but the aim is squarely at the kids fam.

Kids don't deserve good efforts with animation. Just barely passable is fine for them.

It's not some great injustice being done to them or their parents my dude, sitting and watching your average kids show these days makes it extraordinarily clear where they direct the budget. Hardly seems getting up in arms over.

Well kids don't really have the ability to complain in the same way adults do. And I know as a kid this animation would have turned me off to the show completely. Especially when there are children's media that have way better animation. All kids aren't big idiots who just will eat up something just because it has colors and is a cartoon. Kids can probably put two and two together and look at this cartoon next to something like Moana and go "This doesn't look great" and that's what worries me. A Kid isn't going to keep watching a show they think looks bad just because it has some educational merit, they're just going to find something else. The pros of the show shouldn't start and stop at "it's educational", it should be a quality product that shows it's hard efforts while also having that aspect. Something being of a lower quality shouldn't just be acceptable because "it's for kids" and I really hate people going out of their way to support this mentality.

I hope this does well I really do, and I'm not as blind by nostalgia to hate this because it's different and not the original. But I can tell what a younger kid version of me would think of this, and he would think this look dumb.

How can you know this, do you operate a time machine to completely remove your adult mentality and only have your kid brain assess this level of animation on such a critical level? Especially when other kids shows have this kind of animation (Scooby Doo, Disney, Nickelodeon, etc), I doubt it would look out of place for you if you were a kid right now.

Little kids can't really appreciate higher budget animation at that age. As a show runner you would have a hard time asking for a higher budget for a project of this nature when young kids can't even tell apart a Disney feature from its direct to video sequel.
