Well, I hope they take the chance to update the sound of the Earpods as well. They're actually not bad anymore tonally, nothing is hugely off. Where they could use improvements is the vaseline filter over everything, that for instance makes it hard to pick a singer out of a choir.

Even for the same 30 dollars, compare them to say the Brainwavz Deltas, and it's like that feeling when your ears pop after a flight and you're like "oh yeah, this is reality"

This is my plan too despite vowing the iPad3 would be the last Apple product I purchased. I've tried Kindle Fire, Surface Pro, and Android. IPad just meets everything I need it for.

Does anyone know about how long between announcement and when I can walk in the store and buy one? I don't typically follow Apple product launches.

iPad demand and release isn't like iPhones, you should probably be pretty safe getting one walk in on release which'll probably be a few weeks. Or preorder in the days leading up to release.

I'm assuming Windows users can't watch on Apple.com?

On Windows 10 with Edge you can. Always thought it was a deliberate omission, but as soon as Edge added the streaming protocol Apple allowed it. Still not on Android though that support sthe same protocol.

I've also used Opera to spoof Safari before, not sure if it works anymore.

You should be able to with Edge as it support HLS.

Awesome. I always thought they were just being assholes with it. Thanks guys!

Having recently bought into Bluetooth headphones recommended by The Wirecutter, I for one embrace our 3.5mm-free future and have no interest in plugging headphones into Lightning.

Having recently replaced my old wired headphones with a new pair of wired Sennheisers, I don't see why I should have to choose between wired or not, since I can use both right now.

Hope they have some software surprises.
Hardware updates bore me mostly. Although I don't need one I'm interested in how they place a smaller iPhone into the market - in terms of pricing and marketing.

Gimme Night Shift already!

You know, only after installing the beta did I realize it's not compatible with every product that can run 9.3. Some of them aren't what I'd consider legacy either, like the 5C, 5G Touch, iPad 4, etc.

Devices Without Night Shift Compatibility

iPad 2
iPad 3
iPad 4
iPad mini
iPod Touch 5G
iPhone 5
iPhone 5c
Devices With Night Shift Compatibility

iPad Air
iPad Air 2
iPad mini 2
iPad mini 3
iPad mini 4
iPad Pro
iPod Touch 6G
iPhone 5s
iPhone 6

I figured as much.

I have a 6, Pro and an Air. I'll be set. Does suck for people with the oldest models.

I'm looking forward to iOS 9.3 and hopefully an Apple Watch update. I really want one, but I'm still skeptical about the whole device.

I had one for three months - just sold it two weeks ago. I hated it. Easily the most underwhelming Apple product I've ever bought. It didn't really do anything well, and the health aspects of the device are complete garbage. Fitbit and Garmin have far better products in the category.

This is awful. I routinely listen to my iPhone using headphones at my desk.. while it's charging. What a misfire.

Have to decide whether to keep this Pro. It's a beautiful display and a beast of a machine, but still a little too big/heavy for me. I think I may like a 10" Pro (if it does happen) a little better. We'll see how things look in a few hours.

<$10 headphones is literally all it takes to best Apple earpods.

I'm due for a new phone this fall. Maybe I'll make the switch to iOS with my iPad. I don't do anything Android centric that would require an Android. I like bigger phones though.

Is there any rumors surrounding a VR Apple product? Otherwise this is probably the first Apple event I have not been excited for. The reason being, is that 4 inch iPhone is just a toss away for a very small minimum of the population. A small update for the iPad. Is their watch getting a new version or they saving it for September?

That's what I was afraid of. I really want a fitness band to casually record my activity. I'm not super into fitness but I'm getting in a point on my life where I'd like to be more active and see where I can make some improvements. I've had a Fitbit flex a while back and loved it, except the cheap band started to rip and eventually I ended up losing the device altogether.

The Apple Watch seemed to fit that void for me, and it's also at least somewhat stylish. For $400 though? Idk, the new Fitbit Blaze does almost the same thing for a fraction of the cost.

30 dollar accessory to use standard headphones a necessity. Nothing like losing a feature to gain no notable better feature, and the ability to buy accessories to bring back the feature
Yep - I was considering jumping back to iPhone next time I need an upgrade but this has put me right off if it turns out to be true. I have plenty of pairs of wired headphones already, I don't see why I should have to either use Apple earbuds or pay out for yet another pair of headphones / clunky adapter when there's no benefit to me from it whatsoever.

It really depends how much you want to integrate with your Apple devices. For me an Apple Watch tying in with my existing Health data would be great, and the complications and notifications options are a great sell (especially as I tend to miss notifications when walking around, whereas from my testing the Watch is much more noticeable for the user while being much less obtrusive for people around you.)

But at this point, yeah $350 (would go for a 38mm option) isn't worth it for me for a first-gen product. I'm waiting to see what the 2nd gen will be and it looks like they're going to make the Watch a 2-year refresh cycle or similar. Which makes sense as an accessory but means I'm not touching it until I see where it goes from here.

They still can't update their store without shutting the whole thing down, eh?

I wonder. They merged their product pages and store together but it seems weird it would still be an issue. I wonder if it's down as an anticipation thing at this point.

You'll get a thinner phone

EEEH?

If they fill all that extra space with battery instead of making it thinner would be something to think about.
I think that's exactly the plan. The headphone jack will not be removed for the sake of thinness. The iPod touch is already thinner than the iPhone 6s and still has a headphone jack. If they remove it it will be to have more usable internal space.

Is there a link to the stream? If I remember correctly you could add the link to VLC to play the event last time. I have an iPhone to play the event but since I'm at work, would rather have it run on my desktop.

I have a really hard time believing they don't have a solution for listening and charging at the same time (without an adapter)

Hopefully someone will post the direct link to the stream before it starts. :)

I’ll watch the event live on Apple TV, but I’ll have to interrupt my viewing about 55 minutes in, for a god knows how long break.

Refresh my memory if you will, how long usually until Apple posts the event to be available on demand? Is it hours or days after?

Kinda wanted to see it unfold completely before reading about it...

So Miitomo pre-registration ends today. Could very well point to an Apple reveal. Fingers crossed.

Makes no sense. Apple shows off software at the events that demos new APIs/features in the OS (most games) and/or timed exclusives (like HBO GO this time last year).

Miitomo fits neither of these. Dressing up a Mii is hardly cutting edge mobile tech.
