The Metal Thread |OT2| All Riffs, No Gifs

Ah, you mentioned Aliens, reminded me of that movie being thirty years old. It's a classic, though. The first movie is my favorite of the series since I prefer its tone better, but you can't go wrong with either. While not on the same level, I thought Alien 3 was pretty good, too.
Yeah I probably like Alien just as much, but I feel like watching Aliens a bit more often since it's easier to get into a cool action flick vs a slower-paced horror one. And yes, Alien 3 is underrated, particularly the director's cut which is very good.

Fury Road is indeed amazing

I totally get that a lot of times it's hard for a movie to live up to the hype (and I have seen people be like "ehh it's not that good") but if you like what you see in the trailers and enjoy action movies, I really can't see any way you won't have a fantastic time watching.

And yea Speed Racer is pretty fantastic. I can't really see how people thought it was terrible/mediocre at release but whatever
"waah there's too many colors and glorious F-Zero racing sequences"

All the love for Fury Road has got me thinking, has there ever been a more "metal" movie than Mad Max Fury Road?

Aside from This is Spinal Tap as that is THE most metal movie of all time, obviously.

just watched Pulp Fiction again since a lot of Tarantino stuff is now free to stream via Amazon Prime. I borrowed it a long ass time ago and remember loving it, but I guess I must have forgotten how great it is. Incredible movie.

Hammers of Misfortune... how in the world is this band not more popular. There are underrated bands, bands that don't get the attention they deserve, and then there's Hammers of Misfortune. Wtf. Anyone would love this band. From classic rock people to even the snobbiest metalhead. The songs, riffs, everything is killer.

They are as if Deep Purple decided to do Heavy Metal, really underrated band.

It's like early Genesis, Sabbath and Deep Purple making modern yet still classic Prog. It's disgusting. Their cover of Days of '49 is fucking triumphant.

Sounds like a good mix. I'll definitely be on the look out for their music.

Hooray!

Event Horizon

Great list overall, but this movie....really underrated and terrifying as hell. Good pick.

If I were discussing favorite horror movies, I used to not like Psycho all that much, but I watched Hitchcock's seminal film and it's one of the best ever. Probably my favorite.

Went out and picked up the new Black Crown Initiate after digging the songs that were actually working on Spotify, and I fucking love this album. It's hitting a great spot for me and my tastes.

Ooh, nice. Last time I saw them was the first show with the new line-up, which was somehow like six years ago or something? Fuck.

What are some of your favorite underrated traditional German heavy metal albums? I'll list some ones that are underrated

Stranger - The Bell

Cutty Sark - Heroes

Charon - Made in Aluminium

Underdog - Rabies in Town

Samain - Vibrations Of Doom

T.N.T - Deflorator

Gator - Gator

Mortox - Stormbells

Black Fate - Commander of Fate
I think one of the top five albums of traditional German metal

And i do thing X-Wild is very underrated, although it's basically Running Wild with former members.

hell yeah nice picks as well, was going to add High Tension - Masters of Madness to mine but I wanted to keep it short for others to recommend some more.

Love the sound of German traditional and speed, fantastic place for metal

Yeah, specially for Speed/Thrash in my opinion, there are so many fantastic German underrated bands like Pyracanda, Backwater, Accuser.

Oh yeah, nice Pyracanda mention, really overlooked gem. I can spend a lot longer on the German thrash scene, really big passion of mine. To me the best release from that era is Vendetta - Go and Live... Stay and Die

My favourite band these days, i hope when Neige meant going back to their roots he meant more like Les Voyages and Ecailles.

Souvenirs is still the best Alcest album imo. Didn't care as much for Ecailes at the time. Les Voyages is pretty good. Barely listened to the newest one.
