The Metal Thread |OT2| All Riffs, No Gifs

Hands down my favorite power metal album of all time. It rules.
Awesome. I feel like I've not seen Angra mentioned in any discussion here ever, so it's good to know there are other fans (even though Angra's output outside of Temple of Shadows has been inconsistent ant best)

I decided to read some of the comments for the song on youtube:

this is good and old death metal

fucking lol

First time coming into this thread in a while and I see Angra is a topic of conversation.

Today is a good day.

Temple of Shadows is fucking fantastic, right up there with the best of the best.

Sacrifice - Soldiers of Misfortune

I have a big interest in most everything that is Canadian Thrash Metal, and the first album I recommend to people that know Annihilator already is from these masters of the genre who go by the name Sacrifice.

To me the most consistent album by them, aggressive, perfectly executed and so well written song wise, it is by all definitions a perfect album to me. Songs like "A Storm in the Silence" "Pawn of Prophecy" "Soldiers of Misfortune" and "Lost Through Time" continue to shred my body apart after years of blasting this masterpiece.

A true classic, and must listen for Thrash fans

What instruments does everyone here have, for those who play?

The epiphone I bought in college. Didn't want to buy something expensive while living in a dorm..
Some yamaha acoustic a friend gave me.
A random classical guitar another friend gave me.
A cheap electric bass that yet another friend purchased and gave to the second friend above, who eventually passed it on to me.

Also have another cheap electric, a squier, that I got as a broke teenager in high school.

For amps, I have the squier amp that came with the guitar and another small amp given to me alongside the bass.

For effects, I have a boss bd-2 blues driver pedal.

Someday I'll have a permanent place to live and buy a nice guitar.

Posting a track of the criminally overlooked band Hollow. They released a couple of records in the late nineties, then more or less disappeared. Sort of reminiscent of Queensrÿche, Crimson Glory and progressive bands of their kind, while also exhibiting some power metal elements, I guess.

what!
holy shit!
Had no idea Rigor Mortis was writing new material. RIP Mike Scaccia.

They've been working on it for a long time, got delayed because of Mikes death. From what Bruce has been saying, it has some of his most passionate playing ever, I cannot wait to hear it

Mike Scaccia had a unique thin sound thats just 100% fast haha. Curious to see how they will fill this.

Thats like trying to fill Denis "Piggy" D'amour from Voivod.

I believe all the guitar parts are his and completed, this album is just a one off thing and afterwards Rigor Mortis is no more, I think they even play under the name Wizards of Gore and not even Rigor Mortis. From the song it sounds like Bruce Corbitt is not being as aggressive as he is in Warbeast which is good, it has that classic rigor mortis sound.

I'd love for him to bring the band to the bay area, I have not seen him in a couple years

Rigor Mortis is one band that I wish I'd seen.

Can't stop listening to this Bolt Thrower song. Addicting as heck.

Love that album. Where Next To Conquer, Embers, and Celestial Sanctuary are some of my favorite Bolt Thrower songs.

Yeah, I don't live in the bay area but I'm an arms reach from San Francisco and Oakland. I go to the Metro Opera house a lot, going to watch Whiplash up at Slim's on the 29th. I'd love to see Rigor Mortis if only to get a chance to chat with Bruce again, those damn Texans never leave the state haha.

Had no idea anyone knew who these guys were besides me. I friggin' love the Modern Cathedral album.

PALLBEARER ALERT

PITCHFORK IS STREAMING THE NEW PALLBEARER HERE

PALLBEARER ALERT

edit: hahahaha holy shit that riff at 8 minutes into the album opener is one of the best fucking payoffs i've ever heard in a doom song. I literally shouted "MOTHERFUCKER!" when i heard it.

Man, first track is good. I can't decide if I should go see these guys in October or not. The show sold out, but they just announced a second show the next day. They are playing with Tombs also, and their new album is really good.

i'm assuming you've heard sorrow and extinction because if you haven't you should go listen to that and make this a no brainer

a bunch of people were also super into tomb's last album before savage gold (path of totality) but i couldn't get into it at all.

Aww yeahhhh, new Upon a Burning Body album is on Spotify. Their other two albums had some massive songs on. Great sound.

Looks like they stopped naming songs after films, though :(

[fake edit] Yeah, this album fuckin' slays... two tracks in.

I saw them recently. Go to this show. The new songs are fucking incredible live. I agree Tombs' new album is terrific as well. Should be a no brainer.

I hadn´t even heard of them before a year ago. The singer and another guy are apparently working on some new stuff (under the moniker Binary Creed), though they've been working on it for some time now, it seems, so it's anyone's guess when it will be released.

Seeing Havok live in London tomorrow. I'M SO FUCKIN' PUMPED!

This will be my first small gig, I've only ever went to festivals to see metal bands that I like. I can't wait.

Havok is intense live, still love seeing them even if their music has not been to my liking the last couple albums, always count on the Thrashers to produce a killer show.

Clubs are the best for thrash metal, the community is always alive in there, bands are close and the vibe is insane, you will have an excellent time. Post your impressions after the show
