I disagree - I think Sorrow has a lot of fantastic songwriting moments (the opening to Foreigner is still genius, and the main riff in The Legend is amazing), but it isn't as consistent as Foundations. The weaker bits on the new album are a lot higher than Sorrow's lows, and the highs are still there - the end of Worlds Apart, the end of Watcher In The Dark into the intro of The Ghost I Used To Be, and all of Vanished are all classic Pallbearer. I'd take the title track of Foundations over a good chunk of Sorrow, and it's probably the weakest track on the album.

Yeah, I've been watching them live on YouTube, they know how to put on a hell of a show. I'm hoping for Point of No Return and From the Cradle to the Grave, those sound killer live.

Just bought this guitar for 850. Insane price for such a high quality product (Neck-through, mahogany body, made in Japan, Quilted AAA maple top, DiMarzio pickups, Edge Pro bridge, neck binding, etc.)
The PAF Pro don't seem that good for metal riffs, though. I might replace them with a CrunchLab + LiquiFire combo some day.

I remember when they released angels cry, that was a huge record among my group of friends.
Holy land just comforted the band in a that "one of a kind" vibe, Carolina IV and Zito are just perfect songs, speed, neoclassical and tribal grooves mixed perfectly. Fireworks was more traditional but keeps delivering nice ideas and juicy riffs.
The departure of matos really damaged the band (he was a great composer) and the first record when he left is really weak.
And then, temple of shadows just destroyed everything on its path (I had some difficulties to adjust to the new singer, he definitely lacks charisma for my taste)
Aurora consurgens was a good one. Aqua was meh.
As long as the two guitarists stays in the band, I will listen to their work. I, the way they play each others and the groovy feeling that you can hear in their high velocity riffs is really unique and fascinating.
False edit : I just saw that the replacement for edu is fabio lione, I don't know how I feel about it.
i remember thinking bondage goat zombie was okay, might check it out in a bit

"Ocean Gateways" is fucking awesome. That said, I actually like their previous album, Cosmogenesis, more. They are one of the rare tech death bands that know how to balance melody with the wankery.

I will absolutely admit that the last time I listened to Antrhax was several years ago - before I understood why black metal was transcendent therapy as opposed to "shock value satanist noises rock arbullshit". My tastes have evolved super much since then, and lucky you (or me, depending), I only have pallbearer on my listening slate for tomorrow (I can listen to music all day at work) -- recommend me the best anthrax and I'll give the band another go ON TOMORROW 8/14/14.

We best be slaying some Lagiacrus together in MH4U when it releases next year! I was a faithful hammer user in MH3U because desecrating beasts while listening to death metal with what I would always convince myself was an offshoot of Mjolnir was one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had.

Yep, same here. I don't drink, have never drank any alcohol aside from (literately) one droplet of Vodka (yeck), and honestly never want to drink the rest of my life. I just don't need it in my life.
Anyway, for Anthrax, do listen to Among The Living. It's fantastic and I think once you warm up to it, you will never let it go. It's a terrific album.

I'm playing MH3U on Wii U. Unless MH4U comes out on Wii U too, I won't be playing it. I can't stand handhelds. :/ The MH3U demo was nigh unplayable for me.

Saw Anthrax the first time on the Headbanger's Ball tour -- in a Miami theater packed to the gills with metal heads. When the break came on my friend tapped me on the shoulder and pointed to the back of the house. We were on the floor, I looked back and every fucking aisle in the place all the way up to the rafters was full of people war dancing. It was amazing.

I always felt Spreading The Disease was their best. Straight to the point, catchy, and that crunchy guitar tone. Among The Living was a little more polished and cleaner, but still good.

But I completely agree that they should not be part of the Big 4. It should have be Testament instead. I realize the timing is off but at least all except two Testament albums are amazing, And from the two that aren't one is just...different, and the other is solid.
On the topic of drinking, I used to drink a lot. But one friday(it was the weekend when Mayhem fest was in Chicago last year) I got really really drunk, and I was completely inoperable the next day. Its like my liver gave me a big "fuck you I'm done with this shit until I regenerate, asshole". I mean hell, I was sick the next few days. Not even hungover, just sick. Ever since then I haven't had the desire to drink. Every now-and-then I'll get a magarita or a beer if the mood strike, but otherwise it just doesn't do anything for me.
Although I'm pretty sure the reason I got so sick was because before I went out I was cooking meat sauce w/ pasta for dinner, and I left the rubber/plastic spoon in the pan on accident. It melted and I mixed the melted rubber/plastic in my food. I didn't realize until after I had already consumed melted rubber/plastic that it melted in my stuff.

I agree. Testament has good stuff, but there's nothing terribly unique about them.
Anthrax had an original and definitive sound and totally belong in the Big 4.

Havok were fucking amazing! It was seriously one of the best moments of my life. I was right at the front, kneecaps touching the stage, right in front of David. They played Point of No Return and From the Cradle to the Grave back to back, I was fucking buzzing. Those were the two songs I wanted to hear.
Man, what a fucking time. I wish I could go back and re-live it again. My only complaint was that the instruments were so loud that David's voice was pretty hard to hear. They needed to bring the instruments down and bring his voice up. He did signal for the guy to bring his voice up, but it didn't really help much.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot...Skeletonwitch opened for them, they were pretty fucking sick also.

Alex Skolnick was reason enough why they stood out. His work on the first four albums still stands out today and ironically he was not a very metal guy to begin with.
I would have loved to trade Anthrax for Exodus regarding the Big Four. It's a shame since all the delays with the first Exodus album. Overkill often gets overlooked in the conversation of the Big Four too...

Glad you had a great time. You will never really get the singers mic louder than the instruments, they need to fill the room, it is something you will get use to, especially at a thrash show, if you wear some ear plugs, or even your earbuds if you have them, it cuts down some of the noise, you can hear their voice a bit better. My friend does not like that aspect of live shows too, but it does not bother me, I know all the songs to know whats playing and I let the rooms energy and pounding sound take me away.
Now that you got the bug, hope you go to more shows and support the club scene.
Damn so many choice albums releasing in October, fantastic!
