A lot of times, people would suggest metalcore bands in the metal thread, which just doesn't really fit. The only threads I found about similiar music was talking about crabcore and Attack! Attack!. Therefore, here is the one and only metalcore thread on Gaming Age. :D

Please stop posting stupid bullshit if you don't like this genre of music. Please start posting stupid bands whose lyrics you don't understand.

The first song I'll recommend is Given in Death by German *core band Heaven Shall Burn. The female vocalist you can hear is the front lady of the German band Deadlock.

All Shall Perish

Saw these guys back in 07, was pretty wild.

Suicide Silence

Been a fan for a while, not really into their newer stuff though. They played one of their first shows in my friend's backyard. Was fucking awesome. They're also from my city :P

The list could go on but these two were the ones I listened to the most.
Yes, I know these aren't TECHNICALLY metalcore but they could be. More grindcore, though.

Huh, well there ya go. I never heard of metalcore before but it turns out I listen to it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metalcore

Famous metalcore bands today are Atreyu, As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red, Unearth, Norma Jean, Underoath, A Day To Remember, Attack Attack!, Asking Alexandria, Sonic Syndicate, We Came as Romans, Between the Buried and Me, All That Remains, Killswitch Engage, Bring Me The Horizon, Parkway Drive, Architects, Bullet For My Valentine, The Devil Wears Prada, Shadows Fall, Misery Signals, Miss May I, I Killed The Prom Queen, and much more.

I'm generally not the biggest fan of Metalcore or bands similar but there are a few I love:

Cave In
Converge
Botch
The Dillinger Escape Plan (kinda)
Narcissus

Hmmm... While it's a pretty limited genre in some aspects when trying to avoid awful singing, I do like these bands quite a bit:

Converge
Botch
Between the Buried and Me
Cave In (early)
Every Time I Die

Today is the Day doesn't seem to count, but can be close to the style at times.

Killswitch Engage had its moments.

I'm not much of a fan of metalcore, but I saw Caliban live and they were pretty good;

So much gets lumped in with metalcore though, like Lamb of God - I really wouldn't consider them metalcore, but often see people refering to them as such.
I love the cover and booklet art of the newest Caliban album. Basti really did a good job on the design of the album.

Converge
The Dillinger Escape Plan
^^Absolute must-haves.

Also worth a listen:
Down I Go (sounds like System of a Down meets Dillinger Escape Plan)
Gaza (if Neurosis put out a hardcore/metalcore album it would sound exactly like these guys)
Touche Amore
Lewd Acts

Yay. I hate how its become unpopular to like metalcore these days, but there's definitely still good stuff out there.

August Burns Red is probably the best metalcore act around, in my opinion. They can do no wrong.

I've also been into Within the Ruins lately. A lot of their music is very 'video gamey' in a way, while still being heavy as freakin fuck.

Wasn't there even a Tetris riff in one of their songs? :lol

Converge
The Dillinger Escape Plan
Bring Me The Horizon
Every Time I Die
sikth

none of these bands are metalcore, love bmth and dillenger though

Ya know, I've heard that song a million times, but I never noticed the Tetris relation. :lol

Their old stuff was so much better in my opinion. They kind of turned into a Killswitch clone with The Opposite of Within. Still a good band, but not quite as raw as they used to be.

Bring Me The Horizon will be releasing their new album in early October. Their first single It Never Ends will be download only and is set to release on 22nd August in England.

The band's always been my guilty pleasure, Suicide Season of their last album was a great little experiment. There are two snippets of their new song which sounds a lot like Suicide Season:

Just picked up Suicide Season Deluxe edition. Can't fucking wait for the new album to drop.

You should just listen in to a bunch of 13 year old scene girls and get music recommendations from them because that seems to be your musical tastes.

Thanks for posting this, I'm not a fan of any of this "new" metal or whatever they want to call it now and it was taking up space in the metal thread.

Now all we need is a separate Blind Guardian thread and we'd be set.

This is definitely one of my favorite genres currently. At this years Warped Tour I managed to see: Dillinger, Whitechapel, Bring Me the Horizon, Suicide Silence, Attack Attack! and Parkway Drive. Complete insanity.

Soulgate's Dawn - Messiah

Actually one of my favorite releases of 2009. Great Gothenburg influence without delving into becoming yet another Slaughter of the Soul clone.

Wow! I'm surprised anyone has heard of Soulgate's Dawn. I found them randomly on youtube, and I'm very happy that I did. That oabbasi guy that uploaded the song you linked to has uploaded a bunch of other great underground bands too.

If by "now" you mean the last album they put out five years ago, Perfect Pitch Black, I have to violently disagree.
I'll admit that I never even listened to that album. After Antenna, I really couldn't care less what the band did next. Until Your Heart Stops will always be a classic album to me, and I even like Jupiter, too.

I stopped listening to metalcore for the most part years ago, but I'll always appreciate the "classic" bands like Coalesce, Botch, Converge (calling them metalcore is REALLY pushing it, though), etc. Also, I'm glad someone mentioned Gaza — fucking awesome band.

Came in here to post about a few metalcore bands, but with exception to As I Lay Dying, most of the shit I like is Deathcore (by "definition").

Anyone else like Winds of Plague (her current band) / Abigail Williams / The Breathing Process?

Alana Potocnik - Keyboardist
She is supposed to be in Revolver magazine now or very soon.

old Cave In (so glad im not the only one saying this! gj GAF)
Converge
Coalesce
Skycamefalling
Vision of Disorder
Shai Hulud
Breach

most of the newer bands that are just basically Christian rock suck so bad :(

Nobody said As I Lay Dying?

Because this thread quickly devolved from Metalcore to Shitcore in a hurry. Once Suicide Silence and Bring Me The Horizon were brought into the fold it went full retard. It felt like I was at the Warped Tour trying to hit on 14 year old girls with excessive mascara and daddy issues.

Serious question - what is the difference between "regular" metal and metalcore.

Metalcore is a fusion genre combining various elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk.

Nice. I was going to go but everyone bailed on me. My bro said it was great though.

Well theres a thousand different 'metals' so there isn't really a 'regular' metal. Metalcore, as the name implies, blends metal and hardcore. In other words generally it has metal style guitars with hardcore style vocals (and guitar tempos) at the very, very basic level. However more than half the bands in here fall under a gaping umbrella of metalcore but would be better fit in different ones, such as Protest the Hero and Between the Buried and Me. Some of the more classic Metalcore is From Autumn to Ashes and Darkest Hour.

It is kind of just a faster metal with hardcore vocals.

metal is a very broad genre. in theory, metalcore is metal with hardcore influence.

EDIT: DEP, BTBAM, and PTH are all progressive metal IMO.
