The most broken/Overpowered Weapons/Armor/Items in Video Games

I've seen this many times but don't know what happened. Is that a glitch, how is it triggered?
It is a joke gif, it never happened or was triggered in game. Bad players always whined about Commando supposedly having god-like range. This gif, was made as a joke to exaggerate the range of knifing in MW2.

However they always fail to mention that if a player is using Commando, then they can't be using Ninja to silence their footsteps so they sound like a herd of elephants coming your way. Meaning that if they killed you it was your own damn fault. Lag is more of an issue than the perk itself, but whatever...

This thing. It's a pistol that does more damage than a primary rifle for CT, makes up for the only weakness of a sniper and makes what should be nearly impossible rounds to win a cakewalk for the most part.

This.. Totally expecting a nerf after dreamhack.

Its not a glitch, its a gif of a video exaggerating the range of the perk in LOL portions, it has a HUGE range on it, and with knife being REALLY good in MW2, it made the perk rage inducing because of it

Almost completely useless on any difficulty above the default, though. Enemies take too long to die, leaving you exposed.

Yep.
Flame + Homing is legit.
It's a pain to learn but it does the most damage + it eats enemy bullets.

The greatest "weapon" is your partner though. Throwing him at bosses does ridiculous damage.

Armored Core had some pretty broken stuff.

The finger - heavies get shredded in seconds at even closeMid range.
WA-Finger.jpg

And the sawa from ac2 - my buddy always gave me shit for whorimg this haja. Basically an energy grenade auto rifle with huge splash damage and waaaayyyy to forgiving energy cunsumption and lockon.

Yeah, Armored Core 2 Karasawa was absolutely fucking nuts. High damage, plenty of ammo, splash damage, and it can come pretty damn close to stun-locking anything but the heaviest AC. I can see why the thing got nerfed to the absolute ground in AC3.

Resident Evil 4 - Chicago Typewriter.

I breezed through the hardest difficulty. Kills everything instantly.

Stormherald in WoW - http://www.wowhead.com/item=28442/stormherald

In PVP it was broken as all hell.

WHATAWELLTIMEDMACESTUN

It wasn't just Stunherald, but it combined with Mace Spec was ridiculous. Then they nerf it and in comes W/R/S with Windfury and Sword Spec(Warglaives) literally one shotting people.

My contribution is from the same game, the beloved Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker. It had a proc to deal a chain of Nature damage and every enemy hit by the proc took more Nature damage. It was extremely difficult to make, but there was no reason to use anything else once you got it. Tanks did top threat with it, Rogues did top dps with it. The weapon was from Tier 2 at level 60 in vanilla. It was so broken that the main tank of the then #1 guild, Nihilum, used it on the world first Illidan kill...... at level 70.....the last boss of Tier 6. An expansion and about 4 nerfs later and it still did broken amounts of threat.

The Metal Blade in Mega Man 2.

You can shoot it in any direction for very little weapon energy, and half the bosses are weak to it, including Metal Man himself.

Recently? Sunset Overdrive's Hairspray launcher is pretty OP. Combine it with the twist of fate amp (causes a random nuclear explosion on a kill and you can get a lot of kills with the rockets) and oooohhh boy.

Top of the lists in MP all da time.

This badass lookin' weapon right here:

The Holy Win/Excalibur blade from Vagrant Story
VS-holywin.jpg

It's only available on a second play through in New Game+. It's obtained by defeating a specific enemy that's right outside the optional super boss of the game in the bonus dungeon. Why is this thing so godlike? Normally you would have to create specific weaponry to cover your elemental, class, and weapon-type bases but the Holy Win acts as EVERY weapon type with extremely high elemental and class amounts. Also, in Blacksmithing, combining anything with the Holy Win will give that item the Holy Win's high stats, and turn the item into Damascus material (highest material in the game). You can farm unlimited Holy Wins so you can turn all of your equipment into badass Damascus gear with high stats then use the Holy Win to just 1-2 shot anything in the game.

Plenty of OP weapons...not so much armor.

So OP Armor!!!

-Boots of Prowess: Not armor specifically, but you use these for Item Refinement in Star Ocean 3. Each one adds 30% ATK/DEF.
By itself, it sounds neat, but you can refine it into most of your gear allowing for a very ridiculous boost.
(On Normal, you can effectively make yourself nearly invincible with them. Superbosses can't even scratch you!!!)

-Hero's Shield (FFIV Advance/Remakes, FF6): Apart from being equippable on anyone, you can absorb ALL elements and gives a nice stat bonus.
The FF6 is somewhat similar, but differs in that it absorbs or nulls elemental damage and allows you to learn Ultima.
FFXII also has a similar shield that converts all Elemental damage to HP but also has base 90% Evade/Magic Evade.

i havent played the game in a while so i may get some of the details wrong, but here goes:

in wild arms there is an item, i think its called a goat doll, that if a character has it equipped as an accessory he or she will automatically revive if killed, consuming the item. but you can reequip accessories in battle each turn. you eventually find a store where you can buy them relatively cheaply. you could probably beat the final boss or optional hidden bosses with crap equipment once you have access to unlimited goat dolls. im not often much for grinding, and as a result wild arms is one of the few rpgs in which i have killed all optional bosses because the goat doll makes it so easy to do.

edit:

come to think of it, final fantasy 6 had a couple of overpowered accessory combinations. genji glove + offering allows a player to attack 8 times a turn. gem box and economizer allowed magic users to cast ultima twice a turn for two MP.

Borderlands 2:

The bee shield plus any weapon, but especially that shotgun, conference call I think it was called.

Optional super bosses downed in seconds.

Nothing beats Alucard Shield combo. Nothing.

Several hits of heals and max damage every second on top of God Mode by just holding a button. Mana upkeep is so low that it might as well be free.

Demon's Souls Soul Arrow when you start as a royal.
Harry Potter easy mode for half the game. Some bosses are so easy with it compared to melee (e.g. Flamelurker).

For me I would say the "I dub scrub" in Socom 2.. If you had group was in a serious match with another group.. this gun was outlawed.

There are a few combinations of Jobs and Abilities in Bravely Default that completely trivialize the game, to the point that I was able to beat the last boss without it even inflicting one single HP of damage on my party.

For example,
a Vampire/Freelancer character is able to Brave four times, cast Energy Burst x1, Mimic x3 and inflict 9999x4 every turn. The same goes for a Monk/Vampire: Brave x4, then Phoenix Flight (leaves you with 1 HP and does as much damage to the enemy as it did to you, up to 9999 in normal circumstances) and Minus Strike x3 (deals the difference between max/current HP of the user). The following turns, just Brave x4 and Minus Strike x4. 9999x4 each turn.

Since I'm playing Valkyria Chronicles right now... the Ruhm:
Ruhm_VC1.png

A specialty gun crafted by an arsenal under the Emperor's direct command and in conjunction with ZM Corp, it marries the accuracy of a sniper rifle with the power of a heavy machine gun.
This is not an exaggeration. You can kill multiple tanks with it in one shot if you line them up.

Catnip equipped on a gunner in FFX-2 completely broke the game, until they nerfed it in the remaster. It was basically a win button.

The RYNO from the Ratchet and Clank series...that thing was designed to be an overpowered toy but boy was it worth it unleashing that thing and watching things just melt completely to its power. Bosses were nothing but swiss cheese to it...and to top it off they made it play tunes like the 1812 Overture or Night on Bald Mountain just to get the point across about how obscenely overpowered it was. And I used it ALL THE TIME.

This right here. The different iterations always brought something to the table. The RYNO either brought massive fire rate with ridiculous single target damage, or just instant wipes of everything on the screen. RYNO in the second game made the final boss a matter of seconds. You just hold down the trigger and win. In the third it wasn't the best boss weapon, but it just made every enemy on your screen turn to dust. You felt overpowered.

Honorary mention to the Zodiac, Harbinger, and Golden Groovitron. These and the RYNOs are late game weapons for a reason. As long as you had ammo, nothing was even close to a threat.

The knife in STALKER

You could 1 hit kill anything

Even an enemy in a full exosuit with max armor

Was pretty funny

M16A3 in Battlefield 3

Was so unbalanced that even when they tried to balance it it stayed OP

Insanely accurate and has so little recoil you dont even have to compensate

Pretty funny when someone is trying to snipe you at 200m and you kill them first
