The most nausea-inducing video games

The other thread about game nausea in first-person games inspired this. What are some specific games that make you want a barf bag?

Mohawk and Headphone Jack is one of these games for me. It might be the only game that's ever made me feel sick to my stomach. I say this as someone who's unfazed by FPSes and who loved Descent and Elite.

Try watching that for a few minutes.

I think it's the combination of the constant screen-spinning PLUS the continual screen-jerking every time the character jumps. Makes the whole game really unpleasant, visually. I think the idea of being able to run on all surfaces is neat, but the constant chaotic movement makes me wanna hurl.

Towerfall, this level.

Far Cry 2

Something about that game made me sick.

maybe it's the coloring.

didn't have this problem with FC3 or FC4.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution. A brain cannot handle that much piss yellow. It's like watching the entire world through a beer bottle. Thank God for mods.

3DS games with the 3D on (It hurts my eyes, make them water within seconds) and the cutscenes in Max Payne 3....Awesome game but c'mon Rockstar.

I played about 15 mins of Halo CE in 3D on 360 and felt like I was gonna puke. And I have no problems with 3D movies.

Other than those early VR games like Dactyl Nightmare, the only thing I can really think of getting nauseous in a game was when I was playing Wolfenstein: The New Order recently. I have no idea what it was about it but there was one time where I had to quit playing because it was making me feel ill.

Even my first few times with the Rift didn't make me feel ill, and I was playing HL2 and Chivalry mostly.

Half-Life series and Portal series for me. I don't know what it is. I've played games for 24 years and many of them have been FPS games. However the games in these two series cripple me for at least a day. I'm kept up at night with extreme nausea and I just keep hoping and hoping that I just throw up already but I never do.

Unfinished Swan - the first level in particular. It's the only game that made me feel motion sickness (other than the oculus rift dk1). Not sure if it was the black and white color scheme, or the fact that I could run around in the level without seeing changes on the screen without putting paint down.

Half-LIfe 2 and Breakdown. The former especially made me extremely nauseous to the levels of a really bad hangover. It was a rather uncomfortable game to play through. The latter isn't as bad and I believe that my being accustomed to FP games now, it would be a much easier ride.

Quake mod for oculus rift DK1, but I guess that is cheating.

Actually, I think HL2 might have been worse than Quake, which is crazy to me.

Half-Life 2 and Portal were major culprits and I haven't touched those since.
Timesplitters 2 didn't go down too well either.

Far Cry 2

Something about that game made me sick.

maybe it's the coloring.

didn't have this problem with FC3 or FC4.

On consoles, definitely. I thinks its a combination of narrow FOV, slow movement speed, and all the maps being in-world so you had to look down at them.

Prey. First time I started to walk up walls and upside down I almost blew chunks. Had to stop playing for a little while.

Bioshock Infinite also made me nauseated at the beginning with the floating ground for some reason.

Not sure if it counts for this thread but
The machine extracting that guy's brain
From the recent Wolfenstien game. Made me a little ill.

Also "Route Kanal" from Half Life 2

Easy one. If you want to feel sick. Play Crazy Taxi on PS3!! Only game ever to make me feel sick!!

F Zero GX. Me and my buddy were playing it split screen for a couple hours and we both had to lie down because the speed was making us sick

The only game that's made me feel sick playing it was Luftrausers... Which was super annoying considering I was really enjoying it. I think it was something to do with your aircraft being so 'active' on screen and never being in the same place and darting around.

:(

is it the same as getting motion sickness or simulation sickness?

how about descent?
super mario galaxy?
f-zero gx?
v-rally on psx was also one of these contender with a really bad camera.

Battlefield Bad Company single player. Both games.

I have no clue what it is exactly about the game, but it's literally the only games to give me that feeling. Kinda like nausea plus splitting migraine and dying. Which is a shame, because I liked what I played of the single player, I just couldn't play for a decent amount of time and literally couldn't finish the game if I wanted to.

It might be the FOV mixed with the frame rate?

I watched the video in the first post, that didn't trigger anything. Bad Company seems to be the only thing besides too much tequila or Bicardi 151 to do that to me.

Aliens: Colonial Marine is the only game to make me feel nauseous. Something about the camera/FOV just made it shut it off and never play it again, not like the actual game quality left me wanting to return.
