Yea, I pretty much am Rawlf. That scene told me all I needed to know.

He was always my favorite as a kid. I loved him as the Doctor, and I always felt he kind of didn't get enough credit as the first muppet, but he didn't need it.

Any chance this will lead to another movie or tv show? The magic of Muppets isn't as good without Henson, but I still enjoyed stuff like Muppets Tonight.

ITs still making money and there are home video sales to think of also. I'd guess if it could double the cost it will get a sequal. Figure it was 45m ? So $90m would most likely guarentee it. If it could break 100m that be really nice

Based on the numbers, I'd be surprised if it did not.

I'm still kind of amazed that this is a family movie where
the bad guy wins.
That's not something you see every day.

One thing about the "glitch" that is sorta inconnsistent.

If the glitch in the counter is to be believed, as they really only raised $99,999.99 instead of $9,999,999 then the first pledge was for $0.25 not $25... the phone call would be more than the donation

I really liked the beginning of the movie, and 80s Robot was fuckin' amazing. That said, the movie tended to go for a much more emotional impact, rather than just comedy after the first act. Still, I loved it and I'll buy it on Blu-ray when it releases.

No, I don't think so.
There was just a reset button caused by losing his memory to a bowling ball. The whole plan of his actually worked

He didn't lose his memory. The bowling ball knocked into his stomach and the situation caused him to be able to laugh for the first time in his life. He gave the studio and rights back out of that I thought? I'll have to watch it again.

I found out from a customer yesterday that the end of the movie was supposed to say "And, be sure to check out ABC next spring for all-new episodes of the Muppet Show!" but no matter how much Jason Segal begged and tried, ABC didn't want to. Now that the movie is such a hit, though, maybe [hopefully] they'll change their minds.

That's because in the original ending of the movie,
they really were only $1 short, and just as Tex was about to take the studio from them, Statler and Waldorf have a small change of heart and say something like, "Well that was actually pretty good! Worth a dollar at least." and throw the final $1 onto the stage.

I really really hope they do, one of the reasons I was glad to see it doing so well.

Yea, the current ending where it's like "wow, it's actually kind of better that we weren't even close" was funnier, even though the ending is just kind of a little less conclusive in a coherent way.

Just got in from seeing this with my wife, and holy crap I haven't laughed so hard at a movie in a long time.

My wife and I were ranking the Muppet Movies as we were driving home:

1. The Muppet Christmas Carol (We watch it every year)
2. The Muppets (Though we admit it might just be because the humor isn't as outdated)
3. The Great Muppet Caper
4. The Muppets Take Manhatten
5. The Muppet Movie (I've only seen this one once, though, and I think I was five)
6. Muppets in Space
7. Muppet Treasure Island
8. The Muppets Wizard of Oz (We like to pretend this one never happened.)

Holy shit, there's 8 of them? Oh man I gotta check these out.

Saw this movie during the weekend with my girl and we both enjoyed it. She said I laughed at parts and I was the only one. lol. I guess the nostalgia factor kicked in. I lost with Am I a Man or Muppet bit when Jim Parsons cameoed. lol.

Watching this movie, makes me want to buy the muppet show and watched them 7 movies. Never new about the others. Just watched the first one.

Rainbow connection was awesome as always.

Yes more will come, that much is guaranteed. The profits from this will be ridiculous once you add in home video and international box office.

Not to mention it is going to end up being the #1 Muppets movie box office (only behind the original movie if you factor inflation and attendance)

Disney entered into this partnership to make new movies, tv shows and merchandising. Unless a mega bomb happens we will all see much more of the Muppets in the coming years now that is has proven itself to not lose money.

I love how versitile the Muppets are. I love that they can be in movies as themselves just doing something, or movies as themselves making another movie, or in movies as other characters (IE Christmas Carol, Treasure Island). I gotta admit that I greatly prefer them as themselves though. Christmas Carol is WONDERFUL but I watched Muppet Treasure Island a little while ago and it didn't quite hold up for me.

Someone earlier mentioned Muppets Tonight, and I realized I didn't see Clifford AT ALL during this movie. That kind of surprised me - I know he's a 'newer' Muppet but he's also fairly important since he was the host of Muppets Tonight for 2(?) years, and was in several other Muppet projects like the Beach Party and [ugh] Wizard of Oz. I hope he doesn't get forgotten going forward :(

I like this ending better! I was actually kinda expecting it.

Anyone know what's supposed to be on the 3 disc set Amazon's taking preorders on for the blu-ray? It says the soundtrack is a code, so I guess Blu-Ray, DVD, and ?

I'm kind of amazed the movie is getting such a huge amount of praise. It was just kind of... lame. That's the best word I can think of to describe it. Also "dumb." There were a couple big laughs and a number of chuckles, but for the majority of the movie I had the same kind of uncomfortable, falling-just-short-of-mildly-amused reaction I'd have to a Dreamworks movie or something. Massively disappointed, especially since I was a huge fan of Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

I haven't seen the old movies since I was a kid, but man, I hope they were better than this. The show certainly was. For that matter, a bunch of the Muppet appearances on late-night TV lately were much more amusing then the movie itself.

I went to see this with my family for my mom's birthday, and I was pretty disappointed as well (as were my brother and dad - I think my mom enjoyed it somewhat). It seemed like the writers just banked on everyone having a nostalgia overload and didn't bother to actually make the movie funny or enjoyable. :-/

For reference, I grew up watching and enjoying both The Muppet Christmas Carol and It's A Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie (moreso the latter), and I typically like Muppets humor. It just seemed the writers didn't bring their A game to this one; even Statler and Waldorf (who I usually love) failed to deliver.

I watched this movie during Thanksgiving, and while I was skeptical at first, once Kermit appeared, I was willing to roll with the movie and found it quite enjoyable. My only disappointments were the lack of references to most anything after Jim Henson, but I felt that it fit with the tone of the movie being essentially about nostalgia and getting the band back together. This was about a reunion for the Muppet Show, so it made sense that most post-Muppet Show Muppets wouldn't appear. Besides what better way to focus on nostalgia as a theme by only having the oldest Muppets have roles in the movie? I also like the jokes based on nostalgic revivals, pop culture, and even the Muppets themselves. All around, this is a great revival of the Muppets.

The opening through meeting Kermit was my favorite part of the movie. Overall enjoyed it quite a bit. Would love a new Muppet Show, but yeah, have to be happy with this film either way.

Saw it yesterday. I've always enjoyed the Muppets without ever being super duper into it, but I really enjoyed the movie. It was just enjoyable all around, starting with the Toy Story short (didn't realise that was going to be there) and then the whole way through the movie. Muppet or a Man was my highlight, it felt exactly like a Flight of the Conchords song and the associated cameo was probably the most fun one of the lot. Well, that one or
Dave Grohl
, anyway.

We saw it again yesterday, repeats for my entire family except my 4-year-old son, whose eyes were glued to it for most of the film... it was just as great a second time. (We're not crazy with spending our money; we actually had several promo tickets from Disney Movie Rewards, heh.)

On Tex Richman's inability to laugh: I actually caught this time that
Deadly mentioned it in their struggle on the tower
. Totally missed it first time. It's not treated with the importance it deserves.

I'm bumping this because I just saw The Muppets (2011) today. I didn't really grow up on the Muppets. I mean, they were there as entertainment for me, but I didn't regard them as one of my favorite things to watch.

However, the movie, I gotta say was amazing. It made me instantly regret not looking more into the Muppets when I was younger and now I want to watch old Muppet shows/movies. Preferably Jim Henson's stuff.

Seeing as I was not a huge fan of the Muppets before this, I came in with an odd perspective after watching the movie: this movie is in fact one of those movies that you will one day say, "they don't make movies like that anymore!" It was magical, nostalgic, funny, quirky, emotional, and somewhat cheesy. It was an experience worth every bit of that ticket price.

My rating: 9.5/10 - Absolutely Amazing.

So is Walter
The only Muppet ever made able to parse his lips to whistle? Seems like a very specific mechanism they'd have to make, and makes the whole thing kind of cool

Youre right. In the OST his rap talks a lot about it. Actually explains more plot if youre interested. Don't know why it was cut or not out in the film.

I wasn't raised on The Muppets, but I did watch Treasure Island a lot as a kid. That said, I thought this movie was great. Not spectacular, but probably an 8/10. I had a smile on my face for most of the movie. A few things kind of bugged me though. I didn't enjoy most of the scenes with the villain (maniacal laugh was lame, so was the rapping part. Even if it was self aware). Jack Black was pretty annoying to be honest.
