The Odyssey (2026) Trailer

If every rumor is true then this has to be the worst casting in the history of cinema.

Looks like Nolan just got actors he likes (Matt) and then just looked on "top 20 popular actors" list for the rest of them.

Tom Holland and Zendaya? You have to be kidding me... I won't even comment on Lupita and Mr. Page.

Why does everyone have a fucking American accent?

I heard this isn't an adoption of the original story but the rewritten version with modern language and a different slant on the story for modern audiences.

At this point I'm 100% sure that The Simpsons parody episode will be a better adaptation than whatever this is.

My only real complaints are Tom Holland and I wonder if the creatures will look great without cgi. Its hard to see from the trailer. I really like those silver armor designs. I'm sure regular people who see the trailer in a movie theatre won't even think about the complains I keep seeing here.

I could see this movie being huge or an endcap of the trend of "subverting expectations" that's arguably been in vogue since 2017 with The Last Jedi. Or both. Or neither. Or a middling reception.

What I'm saying is I will be watching how it plays out with great curiosity.

That Travis Scott voice over, what the fuck. The American accents already sounded bad, but we've now got straight hood delivery given from an ancient Greek poet. This is fucking hilarious. We might be witnessing a so-bad-it's-good movie here, a fucking Tommy Wiseau joint level of disconnect.

I don't get why Tom Holland and Robert Patterson were mandated to use an American accent. If you want people to use their default accents then fine, but why tell the English actors to use American accents?

Nolan is clealry going for a very modern take on the story. American accents, modern dialogue, diverse casting (am I seeing Asian Greeks?) and then Travis Scott, who apparently tells the story of Troy over trap music in the background. I hope the last one is a rumor, but who knows.

Legit looks gay and retarded as fuck... Never thought Nolan would stoop to such slop levels of buggery.

I'm definitely in for the memes and drinker review 😆 🤣

Saw the second trailer released and thought it looked cool. I never followed the story so I know nothing about it. But I read some critiques of it where people say it's totally wrong having steel plated knights during that era. I would had never thought of that if I didnt read it because now I'm thinking how off base it is.

Never followed Jon Leguizamo's career. All I know is every time I see him I think of him jumping around in House of Buggin where he did a bit making fun of his own name to the crowd.

Everyone railing on Nolan for the casting is seemingly forgetting about the standards for Oscar candidacy. He is still working for a studio and I'm pretty sure if they are putting up hundreds of millions of dollars they want to be eligible for awards. Would not be surprised at all if he simply has to play along with casting shenanigans to get moves made these days. Kinda sucks things like "identity" are driving story telling choices these days.

It was talked about a few days back.

they still look like a woman.
cause she is one.

As for the movie itself, it seems like they've already been able to build so much hype, and anticipation from Nolan's built up good will that it will likely still do insanely well even with all of this retardation. Very disappointing since the industry has been slowly correcting as of recent but this movie will probably allow it to creep back in.

There's this guy that said that Christopher Nolan is at a George Lucas Phantom Menace era, that no one filtered him and we got what he we got... Sometimes a man needs to hear a "no"

Phantom Menace made a lot of money thou

Phantom menace also looked much more hype than this shit from the trailers...

There are four different inclusion categories. The cast is one of them. It's possible to have a completely white cast and be eligible for an Oscar nomination if the film meets DEI requirements for people behind the scenes or even in the studio.

I only just heard of this movie since I don't really follow movies that much anymore. At first I was intrigued, I like epics, but then I saw the critical drinker's video and learned that this wasn't really based on Homer's Odyssey, it was based on a mentally-ill, woke feminist degenerate's interpretation of Homer's Odyssey. Apparently it's full-on woke with race-swapped characters and "elliot", no thanks.

I guess Hollywood still doesn't want money.

100%

I refuse to believe this thing is an actual warrior or something. Or even Tom Holland for that matter, he looks like a clean soyboy you find randomly in the street and gave him a costume.
Seriously, this has to be a satire. I refuse to believe people making this look at it and say "my god, this is a masterpiece".
