"Yea good Idea"

"lets also have a chick in a mini skirt who has more balls than the main character"

Vaan isn't the main character. He's simply the witness to the games events.

Shut up, hes the douche bag I run around towns with.

I wish Vaan would get aids and die painfully in a pool of his own blood, and that stupid bitch Penelo kills herself as she can't live without her lesbian lover Vaan, with his/her 1980's stupid bitch haircut.

I believe the answer is: japanese artists who are aware that femme-ish male characters are very, very popular with their target demographic in japan at the moment.

I don't remember where Haste is, but I don't think it's near where you currently are, Mr. Bunnies. I think you are a few hours away, possibly 10+.

The localization team should've given Vaan a mustache and an eyepatch.

played with a friend for 4 hours tonight on his copy. we got into the sewer escape before calling it a night. If we get a chance to play again soon I hope that the game has a higher level of excitement coming up.

I'll see if a faq says so you won't get something spoiled, MB.

According to a guide, you can first buy the Haste spell at a shop in
Bur Omisace
, Mr. Bunnies.

If you're at the Sandsea now, you are a little ways off from getting to the place that sells it. Probably within 10 hours or so, depending. A couple of places off.

I thank you.

I need some help getting the Esper underneath Rabanastre, in the Waterways.

I do the puzzle like the Dusty Letter says, and nothing really happens.

Again with the waterways, right? :lol But yeah, that's the only area in the game I've had difficulty navigating / solving the puzzle - I've heard the dungeon near the end is crazy.

nothing is supposed to happen,you just find something glimmering after you do it, in the same room,if it isn't there maybe you did something wrong
i'm trying to kill the antlion with a lv 30 party after killing the trickster,the monster in the mine are simply crazy and i'm pretty sure the antlion is going to destroy me but oh well,there is no harm if i try

I can confirm this since I just reached that point last night.
Haste, Thundara, Blizzara, and Firara get!

Nearly all JRP's are linear. FF6 was very linear in WOB(awesome) but you still had decisions as to where you would go. It is the preception of the game that makes you feel that it is nonlinear (WOR) but infact it is just as linear as world of balance.

Can someone help me with healing gambits again.

My only problem is that my main healer(Ashe) is set like this for her healings.
2.Ally:HP<40 -> Curaga
3.Ally:HP<70 -> Cure

But she Rarely ever uses curaga when someone is under 40%... Whats up with that!(and yes she has enough mp)

ps. Is there a gambit so its like this :Party<40 - > Curaja? That would be awesome!

Fabulous game. I also thought the ending was terrific.

i am still hesitating to finish the game off, I am trying to do every little side thing to prolong the experience. i know that i'll never play a FF like this again, so i must streeetch this out :lol

Uh that's just not true. There are like at least eight individual, discrete "quests" in the WoR that are all clearly part of the main plot (in that they give you back party members or directly develop the storyline) but which you can do in any order or skip entirely. X-2, inside each chapter, is mostly the same way.

ok I didn't enter the shrine of mirim. I have been leveling up for the past two hours, most of my characters are at level 18 or 17 but two are at 14 (Penelo and Fran)

Can you guys give me any tips? What licenses should I get? Which weapons are the most powerful at this point? Also I am having trouble earning license points, how can I earn some really fast?

Just start playing again as soon as you finish, like Red does!

I'm fairly certain I understand what you like about the game and are therefore not surprised that you actually in reality like it as much as you said you would back in March :lol but I'm really curious what you think of the storyline ending, so get cracking!

Get anything that increases your speed, decreases MP costs, and gives you MP back (Martyr and Inquistor I think they're called).

Don't know about your other questions off the top of my head.

even if like it's Jesus' handcrafted videogame (and it's close!), I still couldn't start playing again for like... years. All RPGs are like that for me. I can do it for shorter RPGs I can finish in 15 hours like Earthbound, but i just gotta leave the game alone for many years before my return.

I will get crackin', right after I have every esper and finish every hunt in the world!

unless they do this again, gonna be impossible for me. But i didn't mean to imply that those games wouldn't be enjoyable, just that they will drop many of the awesome things FFXII brought to the table and thus i must stretch this out knowing i will never get something like it again... my dream game. :(

Unless it's online, but that doesn't count as a single player FF :(

well last night was interesting...
I am level 17 by the way.

'hey you know, there's lots of places off the map that I've never been to, lets explore!'
'ooo, a big ass bird, lets kill it.'
'wait... why is have my team now dead?'
it seems some rare monster I hadn't noticed had decided to teleport into the battle or something. Rotate characters and lots of quickens later, it dies and drops an origami book, whatever the hell that's for.
finally win that battle, barely.
'should I go back to save point? naah... who needs save points. Onward!'
'hey what's that big glowy sphere thing?'
'oh shit oh shit oh shit, quick into the cave!'
exploration of the cave then proceeded and wasn't too bad as most of the monsters were my level... until the next room when suddenly level 39 gargoyle things decided to appear.
'noo run! run! into that passage!'
'uhoh... cutscene? no... I don't want to be having any cutscenes right now... bad cutscene'
'an... esper...?'
*esper rape goes here*

haha. ALWAY save. There was a time when I had Vaan go into the Westersands all alone, before the other party members joined my group. This way he can level up fast and when the others join my group, their level will already be pretty decent. And so it would get where I would get from level 10 to level 16, and then suddenly I would find something to explore. "Oh, hey...this looks sweet." Then I go, and out of no where those little elemental bastards killed me during a sandstorm. I had to start leveling from 10 again. And then, again, I finally got to level 16... another sweet place to explore and some hunter guy comes and just blasts my head out and i have to start again :lol

I found the Stillshrine to be fairly easy, though I think I was higher level. A tip about the impending big fight though:
be prepaired for tons of ice damage
.

I personally don't let dungeons and the like dictate LP distribution. I've given each character specialties and just focus on those with license acquisition. The best way to gain a ton of LP is to have some Gold Amulets, I had a bunch when I was where you are, they give double LP. My personal strategy is to have the active three with useful battle accessories and the non-active three with Gold Amulets as they still get LP (and double LP) when not active. That way while one group is leveling up the other group is licensing up.

I'm about ~50 hours in, still not Party gambits, but thats just me. I'm personally hoping to see a "self" gambit sometime soon other than the standard "self" one.

As for your gambit problem, have you tried a different HP level on the Curaga, or deactivating the cure one and trying it then? I set my Curaga gambit to HP critical and it goes off without a hitch.

"Cheaters never win"? :D

The best licenses and weapons are going to vary based on what each character is doing, but ideally you probably want someone using high-damage weapons like spears or 2-handed swords wearing heavy armor and a white/green mage with mystic armor and a ranged weapon, with your lead character rocking the 1-handed weapon/shield combo. You should clean out the gambit shops (it's easy to afford it), and probably be setting up every party member with an "Ally > X% -> Heal" gambit, where X is different for each party member and ranges between 70 and 30.

I'm not sure if you can buy the LP-doubling thing yet. Probably the best place to grind would've been on the Leviathan, or failing that go back to the mines in Bhujerba and chain on skeletons.

holy shit that area is crazy! Those ****ers chase you down like dog meat! Best bet is to run like hell to the next area. But after you clear the next room you have to return to the same place and those dragons and stoneheads will be waiting for you at the entrance!

Damn I don't even have a license for two swords yet! My team are all attackers no mages or anything! I guess I should make one a white/green mage and someone else a black mage.

Yeah, at quick examination, none of the Knight's Swords become available for a while yet, so I was jumping the gun in suggesting them. Go with a spear, you should have a pretty decent one by this point.

You should definitely have a mage, at least in my opinion, the positive status effects are very useful...

Also: have you unlocked any Quickenings yet? You might want to start doing that if you haven't.

still think your talking some rubbish mate...I mean alot of the things in this game is exactly what I wanted...semi-real time combat, controllable camera, no random encounters, huge areas etc...plus the game looks great, only beef is that the backgrounds are pretty blocky.

But I think next gen promises to push things forward even further...anyway, ffx added to the serious....immersion, the game was more immersive than the previous installments, and more fleshed out in terms of characterisation

happily, Im sure youll be eating your words

No I haven't. What do they do and how to unlock?

They're the equivalent of Limit Breaks, they blow your MP to do huge damage to your foes. They're on the outskirts of the license board and each "Quickening" square will unlock one technique for a single character only. Scroll around the outside of the board and you should find them.

You don't have any spell casters?

Doom, I think your problem with the game's difficulty has been identified man. White magic is free healing, as you regenerate MP from walking around and when you get second and third quickenings you effectively double and triple your MP. You'll save a fortune by using healing magic.

I personally have everyone learn at least the first few white magics, as they run along the top of th augments section, which should be your major focus early on (HP, increased physical and magical damage, increased speed, higher item potency, better shield blocking, etc. are all in there).

Early in the game quickly acquiring healing and support magic along with filling much of the augment board makes characters pretty pimp quickly. You only should be acquiring weapons and armor licenses to use what is readily available to you for gear, unless you have already planned paths for each character, which is what I did. I plotted out which quickenings each character could get fastest in accordance with my desired character type and followed through. When I fought
Demon Wall
in Raithwall's Tomb all characters except Penelo had two quickenings and she had one. I had all three quickenings by the time I went out into the Ozmone Plains.

I have a Q for those who've done the Trickster hunt, I'll spoiler it just to be safe:
So I have no problems with it until it gets down to HP Critical and becomes immune to physical damage. I've tried spells, quickenings, summons, etc.. What in hell finishes this thing off?

Ive been grinding some and doing hunts for some extra cash and items. I have Vaan at 20 and everyone else around 17. Im about to head south of the first city to find out how to use the dawn shard. here is my setup

Vaan=daggers/shield/minor healer
Baasch=swords/shields im taking him into two handed swords
Fran= Bow/Black Magic
Penelo= Staves/Status mage/minor healer
Ashe= swords/shields/healer
Balthier= Guns/white magic/techniques I am thinking of switching him up

I kept getting killed by the boss on the leviathan who enrages himself and brutalizes your group, I leveled a few to take a crack at him again, but just used a quickening and managed to smoke him. Im just lloking for lots of money now to maximize my spell list. Im loving the who gambit system, really takes care of the small stuff.

bigfatgameguy said:

I've said it before, but it merits repeating. If you're looking to make money fast your best bet is to set up a steal gambit based on enemy HP (higher the better, I use 100%) so that one of your guys steals from each enemy first thing. You'll nearly double your loot production, and if you have him equiped with thief cuffs you'll probably do even better than that. Its a major help in opening up the Bazaar as well, since you'll be able to steal stuff enemies don't drop unless you're chaining them (chaining is another great way to make money).

The number of layers to every facet of this game is amazing. Even wealth accumulation, which almost all previous games treated as a simple ho hum "here's your gold" aspect of design is deep, involving various benefits to stealing, chaining enemies, selling loot for both money and opening bazaar items, and even having some of the best items in the game only available through stealing/rare drops from enemies.

It obviously isn't the most non-linear RPG to date, but it takes everything done right in RPGs this generation and expands it to whole new levels. Modified KOTOR/FFXI combat system, improved sphere grid, some challenge and tons of exploration a la Breath of Fire V, etc.. This game is the direction Square Enix should be taking the genre, leave non-linear RPGs to Bethesda and (to a lesser degree) Bioware. Compelling plots, top notch presentation, side quests out the ass, and gameplay that makes you keep coming back for it specifically.

I can only hope Sakaguchi and the rest of the Mistwalker guys get some inspiration from FFXII for Lost Odyssey.

Yeah, since I wasn't necessarily clear on this before, Doom: you want to teach at least the Cure spell to every single member of your party and make sure that every one of them has a gambit to use it.

What is an easy way to get money? It seems like whenever a new round of equipment shows up, I only really have enough to get a single item.

And yes, I do sell the appropriate loot.

Set up a steal gambit, more loot = more money.

OR

Chain enemies, rare loot = more money.

Either one works and done together you'll be filthy rich in no time, though I'd suggest a little grinding in each new area when you first get there, you often times find some of the newly available retail equipment, saving yourself half the cost (as you could always buy it and sell extra sets for 50%).

Make sure to sell old armor and weapons as well, there's some good money to be had there too.

And just to repeat my question, has anyone beaten Paramina Run, the Trickster
giant white chocobo
hunt? If so how do you finish him off?
