I don't think it's NOA's call. The credits for FF4A say that Colin Williamson was the localization editor, and he's a Square Enix mainstay if I'm not mistaken.Kobun Heat said:Therefore if NOA does not arrange for complete overhauls of both games I will cry and write mean things about you in my lj![]()
What bread and butter series, anymore? FFX was more linear than Dragon Quest I, FFX-2 was too experimental to be "bread and butter," and FFXI was online.NintendosBooger said:Way to go, Nintendo.
Keep financially supporting Square so they can put their bread + butter series on the Sony machines.
I think you're remembering pretty incorrectly.Lost Fragment said:Both. IIRC, Nintendo is handling the bulk of FF4 Advance.
"Whatta buncha crap!"ToastyFrog said:So yeah, that means there's a 50% chance they'll leave the FFV localization as-is. OH NO Y-BURNS
I think you're remembering pretty incorrectly.
The ones where the game locks up and the BGM starts doing an '80s Max Headroom flashback thingy. They're most common in the Tower of Babel, but they're not exclusive to that area. They were the reason Square-EA initially nixed FFIV from FF Anthology (which was "FF Collection" in Japan, and had all three games).JackFrost2012 said:FFIV PSX was completely retranslated...and what "game-crashing bugs" are you talking about?

I don't have a source because, while apparently Nintendo's got some kind of hand in publishing it (otherwise there'd be no way it's a registerable game on their website), there's been no comment on who's handling the translation as far as I know.Lost Fragment said:Do you have a source for that? Nintendo is doing everything, thus sayeth the Square Enix.
The difficulty level is being left intact from the Super Famicom original, but yeah, if they mess with the encounter rate again, heads are going to fly.djtiesto said:Please please please, I hope they didn't increase the random encounter rate and water down the difficulty level like they did with FF1+2 DoS.

I don't remember he/she/it at all. Is this something added?
EDIT: Nevemind, already answered. If that's true, then US gamers = shafted again.![]()

I want that faceplate so bad. I don't even own a GB micro. But I'd gladly buy one for this game.
Tabris said:FFI and FFII on PS1 are perfect. They are the ultimate versions. Faithful to the originals also. The GBA versions are the weaker of the two, even with the new dungeon and boss fights.
FFIV is to be seen but the PS1 version was re-translated, was "hard mode", didn't have much for load times and had some neat additions (cgi movies, art gallery, etc). We'll see if FFIV Advance keeps hard mode and same level of graphical detail/colour PS1/Wonderswan version had.
PS1 CT is the worst port of a game I've ever seen. Worst load times I've ever experienced. It's really nice to have the anime movies which actually flesh out a scene or two which needed fleshing out (ending to help tie into CC)... but I would recommend watching the anime scenes on your computer while you play the game on SNES.
PS1 FFV and FFVI are bad, but not as horrible as CT. Some nice features, some CG movies (intro to FFVI is actually pretty cool) but increased load times and FFV's issue with saving on PS2 makes those games not worth it. So I'm thinking the GBA versions will be the ultimate, still though, I definitely would rather take the load times then pay the price the SNES versions are going for (well at least FFVI).

ghostmind said:Square needs to get going on FF3-9 ports for PSP...
CVXFREAK said:What's the point? 4-6 fit the GBA better, and the GBA and DS have bigger fanbases. 7 - 9 sound fair but would probably perform better on DS.
Tabris said:7-9 couldn't be done on DS.
I would like FF3 original released on PSOne though to finalize my collection. Then also release it for DS so I have a portable version.
