Bam, avatar taken.

I like the anonymity of people not making that posting history/avatar connection, but I'm pretty pumped for ODST, time to mark out.

"Rain" really sets the mood for this game, in my opinion. It's almost as if it captured what I feel when I see the Rookie roaming the streets of New Mombasa at night. Very mysterious, but awesome. :)

Been watching the Halo 3 Legendary extras. Next weekend it'll be the sections of Halo 2 that deal with New Mombasa.

“Git Ta Work” - Dan Miller is hilarious in this one, and all the other ones he appears in.
Bungie AV Calibrater - My TV is ready for ODST!
Anatomy of a Game: Making of Halo 3 - This really reminds you how hard it is to make a single videogame. Lot's of long hours, but a lot of fun.
7 Steps to World Domination - Bungle and it's beginnings!

Makes me wish some of this stuff was coming in some sort of special edition for ODST. Perhaps we'll get something in the Extras menu? I think I heard Joe said that Extras will (or can) be used for videos.

Reading through the Bestiarum now.

Edit - something went wrong in uploading my video to youtube. Audio was there but the picture wasn't. Took several hours to upload. Maybe I'll try again later.

But it's awesome.

Glad to see 1up pulled in Michael Salvatori for their story. That's actually the first picture of him I've seen; I know all the soundtracks were done together with he and Marty, so it's nice to hear from the team.

Beautiful music. "Rain" really sets a strong mood.

I met him once at Video Games Live (Pre-H3), and asked a stupid ass question about Pimps at Sea or something of the like. Not one of my better conversation starters...

Well, the most interesting thing with it, difficulty wise, is probably that Firefight doesn't change the amount it throws at you based on the number of players in the game.

Single player Legendary Firefight then becomes a pretty significant test of skill, since you're fighting forces that are meant to be faced with a squad of 4. And yes, you should be able to filter that kind of thing on bungie.net to see who is just being carried by his friends, versus who can actually bring it solo.

The e-peen forum threads on bungie.net will never end! :D

I'm getting the impression that Firefight legendary isn't just a load harder than anything we've encountered before, it's ten thousand loads harder and served with a bucket of impossible.
Can it really be that hard?

I look forward to trying (most likely in vain) to conquer this feat. It must be done, it will be done. Believe.

Well Rain was a great track. I'm excited to hear the rest of what O'Donnell/Salvatori have in store.

Just watched the videos of Windward, Chasm Ten, and Lost Platoon. Also saw the armor customization stuff, thought it was cool.

Has the gameplay of Last Exit been posted yet? I didn't think I'd seen it in the thread.

I think it's been posted, but I didn't park it in the OP since that one was leaked.

I'm going to try plenty of Legendary solo runs, but given how I got stomped solo on Heroic, I don't see those sessions being particularly lengthy. :lol

The depth of ODST's post-game carnage report is amazing but I was wondering if there were going to be any cumulative career stats ala-Halo 3 MP? Halo 3's campaign doesn't have it but I was wondering if ODST's campaign or firefight would.

From the article about the b.net features, it looks like you have cumulative stats, with drill-down capability from Career down to an individual wave.

Once you make it a bit more personal by clicking into your own Service Record, you can check out a wealth of statistical data about your career performance, games played, and your own custom content. Click into Halo 3: ODST and you can sort your personal data by mission and difficulty, see information covering your points total, your kills-to-deaths ratio, and get breakdowns of how it all averages out, per game. Averages include Points per Game, Kills per Game, Deaths per Game, Points per Death, Kills per Death, and Points per Kill. You can also check out your Tools of Destruction, with each being sortable via a handful of relevant categories.

To the right, you’ll find your Chests that display information and statistics about the medals you’ve earned, the enemies you’ve dispatched, and the vehicles you’ve turned into scrap. These are also sortable.

This is the Career Stats page:

Holy shit, how did I miss that. Coulda sworn I looked over all the Bnet update pics when they released em.

That pic's got me all hot and bothered.

Halo: CE soundtrack stumps all. :)

I do enjoy that one but I love the revamped versions from the Halo 3 soundtrack. "Halo Finale" in particular is thousands of times more epic than the Halo CE version.

Nothing beats "The Maw" though. Such a haunting and awe-inspiring piece. Under the Cover of Night, Covenant Dance, Truth & Reconciliation Suite, etc are all also great.

But yeah, I'm going to have to say that Halo 3's OST slightly edges out CE. There are just so many great songs. Released, Another Walk, Last of the Brave, Black Tide, Follow Our Brothers, Farthest Outpost, Halo Reborn, Halo Finale, Tribute, and of course Finish the Fight.

aaaand now I'm going to go listen to all of those right now

Are all the fun skulls going to be in Campaign/FF?

Iron and Black Eye will be in Firefight which makes me a sad panda.

They're both bullshit skulls that don't add any entertainment whatsoever and serve just to make the game unenjoyable IMO.

All the skulls will be unlocked from the start for campaign. As for FF, silver skulls can be turned on at the start of a match, and gold skulls turn on as the game progresses.

WTF really? I love black eye, I almost think it makes the game easier. Iron's just a difficulty modifier...I like the idea of anyone on your team dying = game over.

Sorry to junk up this thread with normal halo 3 talk, but you know what happened to the official one and what i've got to say doesnt warrant a LTTP (even though i am horribly lttp, i just picked it up today).

what the fuck is the deal with the mandatory map packs? the only way i can play team ctf or team slayer is by buying all the DLC? am i missing something or is it really this ludicrous?

it seems like the only non-mandatory DLC pack is the one that's free...

Play the shit out of campaign, then buy ODST in ten days (didn't you know about ODST before buying H3?) and you'll have all the maps already released plus three new ones.

Oh, and Cold Storage is free too.

:lol @ Thermite's reply, that was great xD

Also, I want 343i to make my dreams come true and create a standalone Halo game that details the Arbiter's journey back to the Elite World post-Halo 3.
Can do:

Arbiter's friend from way back when: It's good to have you back, bro.

Arbiter: Hey, you know what... It's good to BE back.

High fives. They drink beer.

SCENE

If you preorder now, you can play it as the tough-as-nails bad ass, Sgt. Avery Johnson.

I will literally pre-order anything that lets me play as Johnson. Just thought you guys at 343 should know that.

I had a song off the Halo 3 soundtrack as my walk in music at my wedding. I think it is the best soundtrack of all time.

Which song did you choose?

H1's OST was my favorite, with H3's and H2's volume 2 as close runner-ups. H2V1 is still great, but definitively my least favorite.
