The Official Halo 3: ODST Thread

Man what's your beef with Ghal these days anyway? Shit's gettin' real annoying.

zomg internet drama means so much! There's no beef, I'm just curious as to why. It's not a bad thing. It's funny, cool and random at the same time.

I just saw the new Vidoc and all I have to say is that I want the damn game right now! Bring it on Bungie - haters be damned!

Bungie = <3 :D

Cool your jets fellas, if anything Ghaleon's name is just a place holder. :D

Also: Balls, in work, no vidoc till lunch (about 3 hours away). This morning is going to draaaaaaag!

So I saw a video of the ending credits and
Ghaleon is thanked by name
. Has this already been mentioned?

EDIT: Not a real spoiler, in case you're worried.
That's awesome, Ghal. :)

"Here's an engine. Here's a story. You got a year: go."
Great quote.

Early concepts for New Mombasa are pretty sweet.

"'Bam,' said the lady." :lol

I remember seeing those sets of three blue images on the ground since the E3 demo. Does anyone know what they are?

Nice of them to include some AR action.
Picture 1
Picture 2

I'm excited to use the AR as an ODST.

Very good ViDoc.

Man. Anything Paul didn't like got removed from ODST.:lol

"Dual-wielding. Paul doesn't like dual-wielding. So we cut it. *smiles*" The dude is awesome.

Interesting comparisons for the sound of the silenced weapons. Definitely seeing the advantage of making the guns have a touch of Hollywood.

Not alot of new info in there, if any.
Whatchoo talkin' bout?

Now we know we can blame Bertone not just for the lack of a BR... but for a lack of dual-wielding. :lol

Edit: Beaten by Dax? I need a new job.

Don't be too excited - so is Don Mattrick. :D

I liked Backwash. It was in MLG for awhile CTF and KoTH worked amazing on it. Shoulda seen the setups these teams had within the first few events. Was sad to see it go.

I think it like ghosted some peoples 360's or something? So they removed it from MM rotation...

Still had some wicked CTF games on it and some amazing BR Slayer games. No way in hell was it the worst especially when you have Orbital in the shuffle.

I really love the city design too, in terms of signage, etc. Bungie's been playing their Wip3out...
The signage (well, some of it) actually helps you navigate the city. If it looks like you're getting lost, the Super routes you with arrows and 'This Way' type signs.

(Of course, nobody can make you LOOK at them... :D )

Starting to add a few of you back into friends list since starting Halo 3 days if thats not a problem. I just saw the Firefight link tag so I'll grab that as well.

Any chance someone could give Xmas Dan some ODST love?

Played it for a couple of hours and honestly, it's boring. :( It's the same gameplay we've been through in 2 and 3, and the story isn't exactly breath taking. At one point I got lost in the city and had to backtrack for a full 15 minutes. That wasn't fun, seeing how the city = citadel in Halo 1.

Naw, if you don't know whether to get this or not, settle with Halo 3.

You might want to tone down the rhetoric junior. GAF is littered with fools that pirate play and bash games early.

Does anyone know if the European version will have English voice acting? Or is it localised like Halo 3 and I would have to play it in my own language... (I want Nathan!!!!!)

The ODST can dual wield? Haven't seen any footage of that yet. Maybe missed it, makes more sense they don't but haven't seen anything yet.

Dual wield is gone. BR is gone. Motion tracker is gone.

Good video thing. Excited to play it finally.

In each of the Halo games, there's a section to thank members of the community in the closing credits. I got word I'd be in there early this year, and totally forgot about it. :lol

Pretty sure Claude (Louis Wu) is thanked (and rightly so) in all four of Bungie's Halo games.

I'm honestly quite honored.....

100% the UK Version(Netherlands, Norway think too) has the nathan version. The others it will be localized.

Probably because he gives Bungie lots of honest, intelligent feedback and he seems legitimately concerned with helping Bungie make better games. An all-around suck-up, basically. Like an unpaid employee. They figure since they haven't hired him yet it's the least they can do.
I give Bungie lots of honest, intelligent feedback as well and I wasn't thanked. I'm pretty sure I was the sole reason that the AR was removed from Firefight in ODST and you guys all owe me for that. You're welcome.

Apology accepted.

A lot of people may wonder why Microsoft didn't simply release the second disc as a standalone expansion for $30. I'll tell you why. They love money and they know they can milk their Halo audience for all its worth. Just look at Halo Wars.

hmmm what a well balanced review

*reaches bottom of the 2nd page*

Oh. Now they're going to start talking about ODST. You know, the game they're "reviewing".

The dual-wielding is there
Awh yes! Bertone was fucked over at the last second!

If you didn't go through the trouble of buying up every piece of Halo 3 DLC (I didn't, haha!)
Well I don't know about you guys, but I am shocked. Absolutely shocked that he isn't a fan of Halo.

Can someone provide a direct link to the 720p without sub-titles Windows version?

Your wish....

Excellent ViDoc Bungie. That is exactly what I wanted! That was a great perspective and just enough information to make me say wow without ruining the experience. I'll definitely have a different appreciation for the game now.

It was interesting seeing the models for AI and patrolling. I'm interested to see more into that design!

Also... Attack of the deadly engineers! Anyone else notice that?

You'd have to either live under a very large rock or be extremely lucky to never have heard of the Halo series. It is essentially the 'Wii Sports' of FPS fans- or what World of Warcraft is for RPG fans. It's a very casual, user-friendly, dumbed-down entry of the genre. If you're no good at real shooters and crave a game with unbalanced weaponry, auto-fill life bars, and downright broken multiplayer, you'll love Halo. In previous iterations of this cash-cow franchise, you've played as the ever devoid of personality protagonist, Master Chief. Yes, that's his name. Frat-boys across the land sing his praises between beer burps as they await the next inevitable sequel.
Holy shit I feel so much dumber after having read this.
