The Official Halo 3: ODST Thread

Embargo ends at midnight GMT Saturday (so 8pm ET, 5pm PT). Not sure how fast folks'll be about posting stuff.

Hmm. I didn't find that tune tiring. I liked all of the OSTs up to this point (order, for me, is 1, 3, 2, but none of them were bad) - but everything I've heard off this new one blows me away.
I really think ODST's OST is going to be the best out of the bunch because its really complimenting the atmosphere and who you play as (the Rookie) in ways the others Halo's just couldn't. What I mean to say is that I feel that the music feels more personal, because you're playing as the rookie rather than being the Master Chief who was gunho through this crazy war so the music would compliment a battlefield. You are(as I said) instead playing the rookie who is considerably weaker than the Chief and the music compliments and reflects that very well, as there is a darker tone with a sense of mystery.

can anyone tell me if they know, how the co-op campaign will play out since parts of it will be flashbacks and so on?
Parts of it will be flashbacks.

And so on.

(Sorry, that was obnoxious. As the Rookie, you're wandering the streets of New Mombasa at night, looking for clues about what happened to your squad. As you find these clues, they trigger flashbacks - and you play through missions as your squadmates. Eventually, you solve the mystery, and Regret tells you he would have gotten away with it if not for you meddling kids.)

That last bit might not be right.

A new vehicle?

Please let it be a flyable Pelican! I've been wanting a mission in which I fly a Pelican since "Halo" in Halo 1.

Nah, if it was something that cool we would of heard about it from the leaked copies.

Don't get your hopes up.

Pretty. /copy to file share

Where else would it go?
Under categories of vehicles you can't fly like the Longsword and the Pelican in the previous games.

If Staten said there's a new vehicle in ODST, I think it's safe to assume it's one you can drive.

Edit - Though in the ViDoc, it was mentioned that we could "commandeer the city's garbage trucks if we wanted to."

Y'all are forgetting a very brief aside made in an E3 live demo, where the interviewer joked about "elephant transport" through the city, and Staten sort of smirked and said something about how that wasn't entirely off the mark.

I think I remember hearing that... so a much larger version of the current Elephant?

I think Staten confirmed it in the Best Buy live chat didn't he? They built up to it by adding in sly comments about the superintendent's ability to commandeer it here and there. But I believe it isn't drivable, along with the jets. Though I wouldn't be surprised if in the end/metagame it becomes unlocked for use in the City. They could EASILY do something like that with the current engine.

I didn't listen to the BB live chat. Just going off what Doodis posted here.

I still don't understand what's bad about being casual anyways. I'm with most in that Heroic/Legendary is where I have my fun, but I don't like the idea of being snooty and thinking less of playing a game on a lower difficulty level.

Why do so many people think the word "casual" is evil? "Oh no, someone that's only partially invested in this is enjoying it too, without devoting their entire life to it, FOR SHAME!"

Theres nothing wrong with casual, or playing on casual, at all. What I was getting at was the way the guy was clearly going out of his way to label 'Halo' as casual/mainstream shooting game that owes much of its success to its casual-inspired broad appeal.

The fact is that on legendary (& heroic to a lesser extent) the game is one of the most challenging, satisfying, fun & rewarding experiences (IMHO) you can have playing a shooter.

Thats what I was getting at.

Just played the first 5 boards on coop legendary. Holy chow cow!! This is definitely no mere expansion and is easily worth the price of entry on the campaign alone. WOWOWOWOW!!!! The music, the atmosphere, the enemies everywhere, the nooks and crannys to explore. I am so sad that I have to go to work now. :(

I am a jealous bastard right now. A very, very jealous bastard.

No it's not hard. My friend got it from someone he knows in the supply chain. I recovered my tag at his house and we played.

We played 3 people on Legendary and it took us 3 hours to do half the boards. I died a lot. I swear them enemies are much smarter now. They do NOT mess around!

Not sure why some people are upset with that 'review', it only takes one look at his other articles to realise every word should be taken with a grain of salt.

Other great stories said:
Sony to Sell Off Playstation Brand
Next Smash Bros Coming to Xbox 360
Next Halo Coming to PS3

I haven't linked any as the guy is an obvious attention whore that should be just ignored.

P.S. Latest Vidoc was great :D

Welcome to my world, where I respond to things on the current page and I don't have time to read through hundreds of post to ensure I don't make the mistake of being repetitive. :D
