ummm is it me or does this game suck

Seriously I was playing coop with my brother and we were just looking at each other thinking wtf is this shit.

The intro was terrible, it was what two minutes long of IG cutscenes? No backstory on anything except for that lame star wars esque scrolling text thing.

The scenes playing the rookie are so dark I can't see shit even with the visor playing split screen. And when I was playing Dutch it still wasnt quite bright enough, but when I turned on the visor it was too bright.

The city all looks the same so far and it gives you the illiusion of a big open space but its kind of pointless when there really isnt anything to find or do except following the nav point.


I do like the new guns, and visor mode for the most part. And the new music is cool. But so far it really feels like shit. And I did enjoy Halo 3, though the story was a bit muddled

Edit: the audio logs of the chick are a very nice touch, best part of the game so far.

First off, adjust your brightness. Second off, c'mon. Also there is a big difference between something actually being shit (the lowest of the low) and you just not liking the surroundings.
 
Hopefully my school connection won't be lame and allow me to join in on the Firefight shenanigans. Playing by myself now and loving it.

At least 100 people at my GS tonight. Only comparable launches I've been to this gen are GTA and H3.
 
There are two Gamestops almost right side by side where I went (Lexington, KY) and both lines had at least 50 people or more. The one where I preordered was smaller thankfully so I got out quicker.

I only care about the campaign so that is good to hear. I was to my surprise able to preorder this afternoon. Does that sound odd to anyone else? Shouldn't it have been too late?

Nope. On big releases like these, they take preorders up until the day of release.
 
First time that I didn't take part of a midnight launch event for a Halo game... I ordered this off Amazon and it should probably arrive sometime around 10AM I guess.

Nice to see positive impressions about the campaign. I've been on a media blackout for ODST so this will all be pretty new to me. Looking forward to playing through it.
 
Went to BB around 12:20. It was empty other than the employees playing frisbee with the free merch.

Started firefight... mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I'm not too sure what I was really expecting; but, it just doesn't feel right. I'm going to give it another shot on wednesday.

Really just looking forward to the campaign.

It's just different. Has an incredibly bizarre vibe to it that I'm really digging. It's pretty dark, both literally and mentally; it really oozes atmosphere and I think the graphics are actually better than Halo 3's. The environments are much more striking to look at so far

AND THE MUSIC IS BUG FUCKING NUTS
 
I got to the fourth wave of the second round in Firefight, on Normal, by myself. That shit is fucking haaaaaaaaaaaaaard. Covies are EVERYWHERE. I mean. EVERYWHERE. Fucking ridic son.

I really hope Bungie adds more maps to ODST. So much fun.
 
I don't know why, but for some reason I have this fear that I won't be able to find it tomorrow morning once I get out of class. Welp, 9 hours to go and a law test.

I'm about half way through and I have to agree. It's the best campaign since Halo 1.

Bungie have further condensed and refined the classic gameplay of Halo and created some of the best combat situations so far. It feels like there are more options in combat than Halo 3, and all of them are meaningful. Getting rid of dual wielding was a masterstroke - Now the balance feels right for campaign and there is a place for almost every weapon.

I'm not sure if it's just me but the enemy AI seems improved also. This is probably due to better level design and pathing rather than actual AI improvements but still.

The story and characters are also great. Ironically playing as ODSTs makes me feel more badass than the Chief. I think it's because Chief was superhuman and thus pulling off spectacular combat was par the course, whereas an ODST fighting against odds for his friends has more impact.

And the music... wow. Rain is the most emotive piece I've ever heard in Halo.
 
Hello HaloGAF!:D I tried to go back to sleep but couldn't, so here I am. I'm going to download the good Sergeant, install ODST, then I'll decide which I should tackle first.

Halo 3: ODST will probably do half of what Halo 3 did at the most in one week (talkin' US here). The hype is nowhere near the same outside the core fans.
 
This damn game is so difficult, and so awesome. I'm so used to running in with AR blazing, then just melee-ing the shit out of everyone. Nope, not in ODST, you actually have to use cover. It's awesome. It's so refreshing to actually die. This is like Halo + CoD. Brilliant, Bungie, brilliant.
 
This game is awesome. I died within the first three minutes during my second enemy encounter because I ran in balls to wall thinking I was the Chief. It goes without saying that I was proven wrong immediately. Love it.
 
I just had a fucking terrible match on Citadel where everyone on my team quit because they either already had the achievement or because we were down 5 points. So it ended up being a 4v1 match for over 10 minutes because the other team refused to cap the last flag. It was so frustrating.

I'm sure Bungie & MS Games will be quite happy with 1.5 millions units sold. Since ODST took less than 18 months to produce, without creating too many new assets, I'd love to get a peak at Bungie's profit and loss margin when the Q3 & Q4 2009 dust settles.

Also, can't wait to get home from work with my Amazon copy tomorrow!
 
Anyone who says this campaign is better than Halo 3's... what??

I mean I REALLY enjoyed ODST's(once so far haha), but the skybox, intensity, and epic-scale etc is still better in Halo 3. I'm not complaining by any means, just confused as to how you guys really think it's leagues better?
 
Ughh! My copy apparently won't be with me until tomorrow and I'm just about to go head out for Uni, wtfisthisshit?

I was hoping for: wake up, get my crunchy nut on (awwwww yeah! best cereal ever), see a package in the doorway, smile, go to uni happy.

Reality: Didn't sleep, forgot about my crunchy nut and it went soggy, the doormat was flipped over for no reason and there was nothing there, *sadface*, *goes to uni begrudgingly.*

Curse all you folk that have it already!
 
God damn Parcel Force waking me up at half 7 in the morning with my Collectors Edition, wish GAME had let me know they were using Parcel Force, i hate our Delivery man, he delivers far to fucking early!
 
Played little of campaign, and found it very good so far.

Played little of Firefight, and was fairly good. Only tried Rally Point.

Discovered the skulls on the three new maps, and all look great, especially Heretic's skybox.

Finally, played one Multi-Flag BRs on Heretic, and got idiot teammates, so lost 3-2.
 
Playing Firefight online. Thank goodness my connection is good now. I was going to be so pissed if I couldn't play with ya'll.

I'll probably be up all night playing this. Going to get some more Red Bull :lol

Welp looks like my Newegg order from the 14th isn't coming until Wednesday but they are crediting me 20 bucks, bringing the total to 36.99 free and clear. About right for a glorified expansion pack >;)

Run through the door that the Hunters came through. It'll shut automatically, I believe the Superintendent does it.
