I did this, not only did I take out a silenced grunt in the dark but the brute was facing the other way and still went "BLIHTISDLB!!!" and turned around and started shooting at me.
Sorry I quit last night. I lagged out for some reason :/
I beat Uplift Reserve TWICE in a row, to get the Classic achievement and still didn't get it. I later found out that you're not allowed to honk the Warthog's horn. Really Bungie? REALLY!?!?!?!
I've found that they'll still see you, but they're less accurate. They know roughly where you are, but I do think it has an effect. Even a silenced weapon makes a lot of noise.
Chances are the notifications never popped up for them so they don't know they got the messages; this seems to be a giant issue with ODST for everybody I know. Achievement notifications, messages, invites, none of the notifications pop up until long (long long long long) after they're sent. Ugh.
I'm having the same problem, and it's only with the ODST campaign disc. I've missed out on several invites for Firefight because of this. At least I know I'm not the only one.

As for Kizingo Blvd and your health beep complaint. This is HONESTLY the only Halo game since Halo 1 that I played on Legendary. Heroic and Legendary are so much easier in this game, and health packs are EVERYWHERE, that I really don't understand the complaints. I really don't. The hardest time I had was destroying
The health beeping is a huge irritation on Legendary. I play with headphones and the noise is beyond ridiculous. Any attack from the Brutes on up makes that fucking alarm go off at it's fastest interval. Having to stop what I planned and go searching the night for a health pack just to keep the noise from melting my brain is a very poor design choice for the game, IMO. The red tinge and the VISR distortion is really all we need to know that we're about to die. If I want to change my tactics and go recharge before re-engaging the enemy, then it should be my choice. Don't force me to do it because the alarm is literally giving me a headache. That's not really enjoyable at all.
I just like how they added these "silenced" weapons yet as soon as you shoot one fucking bullet its on and they all know where you are. The game has such little stealth and you basically have to fight every fight, no map workarounds (alternate safter routes)
Completely disagree with "such little stealth".
In the hub/city on my first playthrough on Heroic, I snuck past 80% of the enemies, it's all I did. Went around, VISR off (hilarious when I literally walked into a hunter). I loved sneaking around the city.
I'll agree on the silenced weapons not working, if a grunt is killed next to a brute he's going to know he's under attack, he shouldn't know exactly where you are.

So I'm looking for some people to add me to their friends list. I just completed the campaign on normal, alone, and now I'm thinking about starting again on heroic (again, alone). None of my friends have the game yet.
I haven't even touched Firefight am I'm looking for some people to do that with. Play with me and you're playing with someone who:

Isn't able to play Halo for 6 hours at a time and wants to approach this casually.
Wants to try for any of the achievements that require more than one person.
Can play from 8-11 EST most nights.
I'm not a Halo pro and don't care if you are, either.
What information did Johnson get from Vergil? What did they accomplish by getting him out of there? If it wasn't so late in the story and they weren't all about to jump to the Ark it would have held more meaning getting an Engineer to defect
but MC will end it all in a few hours anyway so woohoo go ODSTs.
Ghal, you know I'd be up for a game any time if I wasn't asleep by time you get on.:lol

Best Halo campaign by far, short though sadly. The plot/ending was somewhat pointless since it really had no bearing on the war in the end, but I suppose the point was more about the characters own adventure.
I really don't see anything about my post as a spoiler. I'm curious as to which part offended though. I'll gladly edit that bit, if you point it out but spoiler tagging the whole thing doesn't make much sense to me.
So two friends and I tried firefight for the first time last night and boy did we suck. Tried a couple maps and couldn't get past but a couple waves. Lol. Lag was bad sometimes too.
Need to find some good tips online or something, jeez.
Overpriced a bit. Not a ton, but a bit. If I didn't own Halo3, it would be a great deal.
I missed the flood (not flood only levels, but the flood).
Campaign felt a little short, like the individual levels could have gone on longer or something
I love the pistol, still wouldn't mind BR's (at least in firefight)
No Flood or sentinels
in firefight FTL
Wish there were more night variants in firefight, I love playing in visor mode.
Rain effects? D -
Lag in firefight
Kind of wish there was more going on in the hubworld, and maybe a few puzzle elements... even if they were secondary, Like unlock BR's or something?
Human puppet models showing their age.
Campaign had a great pace to it. Levels had some really nice details, and felt more lived-in then in the past.
ODST battle approach was more fun than I thought it would be. Enemies are lethal!
Scale looked better then ever. Scarabs even felt smaller this time.
Hope Reach is open-worldy.
Wish the game ended with sighting Master Chief's plumment to earth like in that blontkamp short.
Dirtbag, you're the first person I've seen call out the rain effects. I totally agree, had to squint every once in a while to make sure it was still raining :lol
I kept expecting a storm to break out (remembering the first trailer), but it never happened. It doesn't change much about the game, I just thought it was weird.
the scarab being in there. Personally I think it cheapens the Chief's acheivements in Halo 3 and feels less special. Why even bother having it? Fight a Phantom and few banshees or something, then blow up the nest.

Game is nicely polished and fun.
I'm just so tired of fighting the covenant and also find the halo universe pretty dull.
Maybe REACH will add something new.
Killing those little screaming aliens is always fun though,

You should listen to the OXM podcast; Marty talks about how he built the entire music system around 'Rain' (what's on the soundtrack as Deference for Darkness), and then the artists decided to yank the rain altogether. He had to beg them to keep it. :lol :lol

Hadn't really thought about it like that, and it didn't really bother me.
I mean I've had marines take out the scarab before when I'm driving around bullshitting. Didn't personally bother me, fun game comes first
I imagine by page 170 someone's solved this (apologize if you've done this), but for some reason selecting "resume solo campaign" often restarts the first level. (and yes, I've been save/quitting) I have to keep returning to the main menu to try again before I actually get to my active checkpoint.
Anyone else having this issue or know what might cause it?
Alright I edited. Sorry about that, I just seem to remember that particular cache opening up early on in the game and wasn't really thinking about that.

Ah, that explains alot.
I didn't mention it (yet to write up my "evaluation") but yeah, I too wondered why the rain effects were so meagre. Perhaps Bungie could put out a video demonstrating how it looked, just to see what it would have been liked... (wishing more than hoping)

the Scarab is a joke. If you keep the Cheiftan's hammer from previously, you can board it MC-style and take out the one or two Brutes that are manning the Plasma Turrets and destroy it even easier than in H3. Totally cheapens Master Chief's hard work.
It would be awesome to seem them tackle the rebellion storyline and then switching gears to uniting to fight a common foe. I don't see how they could ignore that storyline. Otherwise you're just fighting elites again... There was no forerunner/flood stuff on Reach, right?
I loved opening those huge metal doors between HUB sections. Also the
covenant cruiser flybys at the end were great, I ignored protecting dare/vergil a couple of times, and just got off the warthog to appreciate them in first person

I got the soundtrack from Amazon last week, but am just now getting the chance to really listen to it. It really is remarkable, both in quality and range. Mary and Michael keep pushing that bar.

Kind of. >_>. There's a really cool Forerunner artifact buried beneath the surface that interacts with Slip-stream and time. But that's all post Alpha Halo stuff that I doubt is in Reach. And would still mean no Flood.
