The Official Halo 3: ODST Thread

Red ring 3 times, on the 4th time...no freeze ups or anything. Been playing MvC 2 for the last 20 minutes testing it.

That's usually how it goes. Mine did pretty much the same, so I got one last game of Vegas 2 co-op in before the inevitable... *tear*

Oh man if
the rookie spoke at the end and had the Chief's voice
that would not be cool. It would be fucking terrible.

It would make no sense. At all. NEIN! NEIN! NEIN! NEIN! NEIN!

Still think both epilogues are pointless and throwaway.

Alright, got a question for you guys. I just picked up a 360 recently, and one of my friends said ODST includes the full Halo 3 game on disc 2, is that true? Looking at back cover, it seems it only include Halo 3's multiplayer maps.

It includes the full Halo 3 multiplayer game. So all of the multiplayer maps, and allowing you to play them. When you do, the Xbox 360 will recognize it as the Halo 3 disc. The only difference is they took out the campaign levels to make room for all the DLC maps.

It's got original multiplayer, forge, and theater.

The OP already has this info...It contains every thing on the Halo 3 disc except for the campaign...in addition, it contains every Halo 3 map ever made.

What should happen is at the end of Reach you see a Spartan getting into some ODST armor and being transfered to Buck's squad. FUCK YEAH

:lol

Just finished up my first run through of the campaign. Definitely my favorite SP Halo since the original. Halo 3 has some great levels, but I was captivated with ODST from the opening cinema all the way till the credits rolled.

Originally I thought it was going to suck not being a spartan, but in the end I found playing as a regular solider very compelling. The hub "overworld" was a great mechanic. Can't wait to explore it more. The music was the best since Mass Effect. All in all a very well done single player campaign, more than I expected but not to much that it drags.

Was on the fence until the great reviews started to come in but I am certainly happy I gave into the hype, the game surpassed my expectations.

Now onto co-op/firefight!:D

Just a quick question, for anyone who might know: The last chance I had to play the game was the day it came out, and I did a Save & Quit in the middle of a flashback level, so I haven't touched the game since I did that. Achievement-wise though, I'm reading stuff about needing to do levels all in one sitting.

Do I need to restart the level when I fire the game back up, or does a 'sitting' technically count across a Save/Quit, as long as you don't do anything else with the game in between?

That doesn't matter because the city presented in ODST doesn't have street signs. The addition of street signs hardly contributes (or subtracts) to a city's feel, either bland or lively.

Whoa whoa whoa... are there street signs in the Hub World? That would change a lot for me........

Bah...
Tried getting all audio files in co-op with friend, and apparently I have to complete every single mission instead of "save, quit and replay" to start the Hive mission (for the last file).

Now I have to start over solo and find all 30 of them again.

You're good to go. I think the "in one sitting" only applies to the two Vidmaster Achievements. Which you should wait to tackle after you've completed the story once.

If you've completed the game on Solo then just go to the Campaign Lobby and select the Mombasa Streets option. It'll seem like you've started all over again but in reality you'll have full access to the entire area without the need to complete the individual missions. This is how I got the audio files. With the help of a map/videos, it took me about 30mins

You should be just fine so long as you just hit the "resume campaign" button rather than starting a mission over. The game will also give you a pop up when you go to select another mission from the main menu that you're about to erase your current campaign progress.

Noooooooo

Total Length: 01:55:09 Set: 4 Round: 3 Wave: 5

Just one more wave... :(

ps - I got a killionaire in one of the bonus rounds. I ended up with close to 99,000 points in one bonus round, it was insane.

Why the hell are you people having trouble with Endure?

Me, a friend, and 2 strangers did it on the first try with 19 spare lives :lol

Which level did you do this on? What strat?

The interior of the ONI Alpha Site.

2 men on each staircase, then go to town on those bastards. They get funneled in through 2 other staircases which are directly in front of the ones you should be on so it makes it an absolute breeze.

Lost Platoon
is the easiest to get it on(vehicles), then
Alpha Site
.

For
Lost Platoon
, get one guy using the Spartan Laser, another using the Sniper, then two guys using the Warthog. Then after downing two Choppers, those two guys just using weapons get in those Choppers, and if you want to down to more and swap the Warthog for Choppers, do that. Pretty easy since you have vehicles.

On
Alpha Site
, just hold back in that main lobby area, and in the area where there's weapons. Though before the last wave, always go and get the Rockets, and don't waste the Sniper on the first three waves of Grunts, Jackals, or Drones.

Hope that helps.

That too. Silenced Pistol is really good when taking down those Grunts and Jackals that just walk out in a straight line.

Third and fourth attempts at Deja Vu.
3rd: One person had to leave.
4th: After an hour or so, one person causes a hissy fit right before the final standoff and quits.

!@#$.

So me and my friend got all 29 audio logs, went to Data Hive, and we can't get the guy to come down with us so we can get the last audio log. =( Someone told me you have to do it solo. I'm not going to go find them all again, at least not today. Ahhhh! Damn this sucks. I guess it doesn't save the audio logs if you do it on co-op and then end the game.

I'm giving Endure another try on ONI Site Alpha. It's not so much that it is hard, as it is hard to not have the session crash in the two hours it takes to do it.

Hit me up people, GT: Ember512

Got to the third chapter, turned it off. Went to continue, gotta start all over. This thing doesn't have auto save? TWO THOUSAND AND NINE, FUCK

Don't just turn your shit off. Save and exit. Welcome to 2009 quit being a fucking idiot.

Do you just hold your power button on the computer down to turn it off without saving any work done?

Jesus its common sense.

I'm not from the not too distant future, auto save is a common feature these days. I also drive my car without thinking to first turn a crank.

That is full of so much win. I know that Urk said that this glitch was removed, but wasn't developement over by the time he said that?

Gonna play some Legendary Coop tonight with some of my friends. Sorry for not playing with you GAFers yet. I've been pretty damn busy.

I've got to agree with Juices on this one. If you're too lazy to press the save button before you quit, then that's your problem. There are a ton of games without autosave. Try any PC RTS. You have to manually save them
has society really become this lazy?

Has anyone said why they kept the party size to 4 players in Firefight?

IMO it's the only thing that could possibly enhance the amount of fun I'm having with it... and maybe somehow segway one Firefight area to another after a certain amount of time or rounds.

What's the other epilogue?
I only saw the one with that black dude.
Truth discovering the portal to the Ark I believe, but there are tons of theories about what's going down in that scene.

Also, during the epilouge scene you speak of, you can move the right stick around to see a pretty funny easter egg.

Under the last mission there should be "Mombasa Streets", you don't see that?
