The Official Halo 3: ODST Thread

Hmmm I can't connect to Live right now yet the internet is working...

I've had internet issues on campus today, it just kicked me out of a game of battlefield 1943 with friends, but I'm still connected to live and in our xbox live party. Plus my internet has been cutting in and out though. Don't know if this is your same issue because I believe you are off-campus.

Yeah, I figured, but in the book the chapter headings all say 2542. Just an error, I guess.

It's been a while, but IIRC most of FoR takes place before the actual fall of Reach...

Was there supposed to be a voucher that came with ODST for the Reach beta? How was that supposed to work?

It's on the actual game disc, it'll appear in the main menu of ODST when it's available.

Similar to how the Halo 3 beta was handled with Crackdown.

Today I played for the first time Firefight with a friend and got the Crater and Alpha Site achievements - had so much fun and some fights were so intense...I love this game.

Also a big thanks to Sai-Kun for the code. :P

The respawn areas on Lost Platoon are seriously fucked. I died on the final wave of a round at oine point, and respawned with a chieftan and a brute with a fuel rod cannon right outside the door. I then proceeded to lose another three fucking lives just trying to get outside. Amazing.

Rented it today, finished on Heroic in one sitting, really enjoyed it

Have yet to play Firefight, probably will later tonight

Sounds like Halo 3's multiplayer spawns, amirite

Yup, that's singlehandedly the reason why I don't consider that the easiest level, all of the enemies camp out at spawn, it's complete crap.

had the same problem last night. Got my re-spawn and ran into one of those invisible fucks and got wasted ;(

my friend and I took that land zone thats left of the spawn point worked great and keeps everything in front of you and theres no way enemies can sneak up on you without you knowing. Two people can easily handle a drop that comes on that LZ.

Ok finished Halo 2/3 and ODST within a three week span, I have to say that I enjoyed ODST the most, it was close with Halo 3's campaign but I just enjoyed the pacing of ODST more, I never thought I would play halo again after beating part 1 on launch day but I was interested in ODST and really wanted to experience the whole halo story, loved everything about it, great stuff.

This isn't really even speculation. More wishful thinking.

Anyway, I completed the campaign last night have been thinking about it pretty much all day.
Except for that damn highway sequence I pretty much loved every minute of it.
So naturally I started thinking it would be really cool if Bungie used this formula in another game.

Then it hit me: REACH!
The book the fall of reach starts out almost exactly like ODST. They are dropping in a pelican that gets shot down so the Spartans bail out and land in the forest.

Personally I think it would be awesome if REACH followed a similar structure to ODST.
I liked it that much.

I just finished the SP campaign today too, and I feel pretty much the opposite of how you feel. I felt the SP was a huge disappointment compared to the usual standard of Halo SP campaigns.

Aw man, I loved it!
It was probably the most fun I've had with Halo since the original.

Attempted Endure tonight. Holy fuck. We tried it on Lost Platoon. We failed right before making it to the 3rd set. It was really tough. It was also the first time I made it to the second set and experienced the bonus round. It was awesome. I was just chucking grenades as they dropped getting thousands of points. Lots of fun.

Whenever people ask me to play Firefight, I'm always hesitant to play for some reason but then when I start playing I have a lot of fun.

So what map did everyone get the Endure achievement on?

It was partly because I could write a one sentence summary of what happened in the SP story and I wouldn't be omitting anything or glossing over any points, and the game structure itself was boring. Go from A to B, kill a few grunts/brutes/squids, pick up a helmet/gun/camera, play a flash back about someone else going from A to B killing a few grunts/brutes/squids, all for no real reason except that there is nothing else to do at point A except go to point B, then the game ends with an escort mission, pretty much nothing is added to the Halo universe, gameplay is pretty much the same as before...etc.

Pretty much ODST should have been a 1200 MS point DLC for Halo 3, not a 60 dollar game.

Alpha Site. Only two chokepoints to block off; park two guys at each staircase and you're set.

It can get boring, though, as the fight is anything but dynamic.

This.

I'm sure endure is possible on other maps but this one is definitely the easiest.

Yep, got mine there too. Same reasons. That and the fact that it was the only map that I didn't lag (too much) on.

Getting the endure with a half second lag... is sure fun though.

Fifteen dollars?
Surprising. Did you enjoy the other Halo campaigns? Because this one felt like all the awesome parts of each one.
And you could sum up some of the story in a sentence or two, but this wasn't intended to be a space opera. It's a story about a squad of ODSTs. Seeing their harrowing experience was enough for me.

We have 3 for Deja vu, need one more! Message big ander, Proteus, or Ember512.

Yeah, 15 bucks seems right to me. 3 new MP maps and a new online mode. The SP campaign isn't worth the extra 45 bucks.

I enjoyed Halo 1-3 SP quite a bit, I'd rank them 1>3>2.

There was a reason that The Pit was replaced by Pit Stop(somewhat) in matchmaking right? So why the hell is it in Team Throwback instead of Pit Stop?

Maybe when we do have a matchmaking update, it will be replaced.

Going to set up a lobby now.

Is it alright if I join in, if you already haven't filled the party up?
