So, question to european gaffers..

What the hell are you doing posting here at 5 am?! :lol

You guys have your schedules really messed up. What are your days usually like?

If you're referring the Europeans Scottish and Irish folk such as Dani and I, it's simply because we are awesome. :)
When you have nothing to do and you prefer night to day, why the hell not? :D

Edit: Beaten! Curse you, Dani!
Edit 2: Are we the only nocturnal EuroHaloGaffers?

It's just funny that I get to college, go to class and then i just read up on mah Gaf stuffs and I can see your schedules are fucked up just pay attention and try to learn.

What do you guys do for a living?
Besides nothing, obviously ( I'm not judging any of you, I'd love to be a non-productive sponge just like you guys. And I mean that)

Edit: I'm actually the non-productive sponge. I'm just not as cool as you guys =(

I do have a seperate hobby, away from GAF. It's this weird thing I do daily, to summarise, I email large and small local companies with a document (CV.doc) whenever they advertise vaccancies. At the end of the week I tally up all the non replies and each week I try to beat my previous week's tally. Last week it was 4, this week it's 2 so far. =)

Whenever I'm not doing that, I self study Japanese and also teach it. And maybe play game video games, maybe.

What chair bro? I need a good one and just haven't found anything I think defines me.

Tristar Massage Chair from Bronze 69 combining the best of luxury with the highest level of comfort. The unique design transforms almost any room into a high-end spa facility. Adjustable massage settings let you choose from 6 techniques and a new foot message system complete de-stress the body while Kalfasun high pressure lamps relax the muscles of the face and hands.

But I feel this chair can be more than it is. This baby will have a Porshe engine installed as well as a cup holder and magazine rack.

Dude, love the euphemism. I have a similar hobby.
I tally up all the vacancies I've seen during the week and try to beat my previous week's tally. Last week it was 0, this week it's 0 so far. :)

Otherwise I study for my software course and play games.

Edit: I give you "The Juices' chair"

maya-single-chair_48.jpg

The sexy-looking Maya Single Chair is specially designed to relieve your body and mind when you have a hangover. Crammed with a geeky style, the reclining Maya chair combined with 26 or 32inch screen, a pair of powerful 60W speakers and a sub, offer you the best possible lounging relaxation and get you back to normal. The geeky set-up appears to be a concept only at the moment, but it would be in the wish-list of many wine connoisseurs (uber-rich obviously). So, drink as much as you can. The Mays Single Chair might be coming anytime soon to ensure every morning is a fresh morning.

This is the first time in my life that I have ever studied. Before now it was all about sleeping in class and waking up having new information, I am truly a sponge.

And yes, Blue, we are. :D

I'll only buy a chair if Walshy or Neighbor gives if their seal of approval. I was on the fence about Gunnar Optiks until I saw Neighbor wearing them. Now I have 7 pair stockpiled in my closet. They burn out about once a month after seeing so much wape on my screen.

This would be a really cool chair... if the speakers were integrated (so you didn't have to set them up every time you moved it, and so that the wires for said speakers were built into the frame), and if there were some place to put a drink down. As it stands, it's only partially useful.

And the tv looks way too small

27/30 audio files and I think I'm done. It doesnt help its such a dreadful fucking story anyway. Just driving around the city aimlessly sort of points out how much copy and pasting has occurred with it, making it a nightmare to navigate. Going through 29 markers on an FAQ map one by one trying to find which ones I've missed is making me just completely hate the game.

1 week rental and I've got 2 nights out of it at the most. I'd whop a 48 hour code on and try Firefight but all my friendslist have moved on and the last couple of Campaign flashbacks made it seem like I'd played the mode already.

At the very bottom of his OP, in quote tags "ripped from NeoGAF" :lol Shameles...

SBP, you seem kinda willing to hate on ODST but you're deliberately missing stuff. One of my favourite things in the game was finding the audio logs, precisely because I didn't use a map and had to use the clues in the environment that Vergil would throw up.

The story was good, but searching them like that makes it much more interesting. Always looking out for clues Virgil would leave was pretty fun.

I remember there being a discussion about the Terminals and audio logs earlier, and I'd like to add to that.

I think ODST did a much better job of implementing and presenting the audio logs than Halo 3 did with the Terminals. However, the story found in the Terminals is far better than Sadie's Story.

I'm the kind of person who doesn't use a map for anything like that. The clues in ODST were really welcome - anything that allows you to know roughly where something is is a bonus. In Crackdown it was fine because you had a sound when you got close, but in GoW2 it was horrendous because there was almost no indication of where they were. In Uncharted I think there's an audio cue, but I'm not entirely sure if it's a hard and fast rule or if I'm just imagining it - the ODST ones were subtle enough to fit in with the city but obvious if you knew what you were looking for. The only thing I would change is have the signage at the start to Tayari Plaza turn off after you found the helmet, because that's pretty confusing.

*from description I also posted* - 26" or 32" which I think is more than enough at that viewing distance.

Yeah, slap those speakers onto the side of the screen, widen the arm-rests and turn that weird cone thing into some kind of fantastic fusion of a bottle chiller, centrifuge and a lift track system connected to the armrests.
Result? Cold beer, impurities are forced to the bottom of the bottle thus ensuring the beer is at its best (actually I just thought a centrifuge chiller would be awesome) and all you have to do is press a button for a fresh one to arrive at your hand. :D

I was open to it being good, and I'd actually say the last 2 flashbacks or so were some of the best Halo campaign stuff to date, but the hub that holds it all together just isn't fun and ruins it for me. When all the ODST are together and heading to goals and stuff, the game works and it should have just been that. Flying the banshee as aerial support, and fighting off aerial hoardes and invaders was fun stuff, but thats 30 minutes worth of game in between 4-5 hours of drudging shite. Driving around in the pitch black through the same city block copied 16 times isnt fun to me. Halo and its designers just arent suited to open world stuff.

I've tried driving around the city waiting for Vergil's monitor take-over but with just 2 more to find, its like looking for a needle in the haystack. Then I switched to going through an FAQ map by setting beacons and got 10 in and no joy and found myself questioning what the fuck I was doing still playing.

Are there people that are defending Sadie's Story here, or are they referencing some of the lines from it? Its one of the worst illogical stories possible. It reads like dreadful childish fan-fiction, but I guess thats the 'in-thing' these days with stuff like Twilight becoming some massive franchise. Theres just no redeeming quality to it at all. I'm supposed to want to find these audio logs, but I really don't.

Thread thievery. :lol :lol :lol

Could have at least tried to keep the layout the same. Stolen version looks all broken up and horrible. Ghal's is nice, neat and sexy.

Should also have removed all GT's. Sure, maybe most won't mind but for those that do: Did they bother to check? What about the GAF tags? I know GAF FF 1 & 2 are both full but that isn't the point, they are in the OP and that is downright unacceptable. :P

I'm sorry but I can't agree with any of that.
Sadie's story is pretty nice. From the story itself to how it's told; what you have to do to access the whole story and how it helps you feel like you're a part of that world.

I think it was a great move by Bungie, taking the terminals to the next level. And doing it very well.

Welcome back Dax.

To nbp, I agree with you that the Sadie story was hoakie, but it still was a decent portrayal of how the engineer and the covenant invasion went down. While some of the events with the police chief were a bit far stretched, aspects of the audiologs showed the little detIails we would forget about or not necessarily think of.

Would post more but I'm in on my iPhone currently.

We know it's you Dax, no need to brag about how you stole the thread because you were banned here :lol
GAF vs E46fanatics, wtf?

Gui, I'm also a college student, which is why I wasn't online at 5am (yay for midterms). And I'm also waiting for answers to my CV.doc which is quite empty seeing as I'm still at the start of my post-hs studies :lol

I'm not a very big Halo fan. I've played 1-3, and enjoyed them, but never really understood what all of the fuss was about. Conceptually, ODST sounded very cool, so when I had a chance to pick it up for £20 second hand I figured I'd give it a shot. :)

So far, the "rookie" aspect of the game isn't really living up to my expectations. The area isn't fun to explore and it's too damn dark to do so, anyway. (Yes, I know you're meant to use that nightvision thing, but it makes everything look so damn ugly that I try not to)

In the actual flashback missions I'm having quite a bit of fun, though. My main complaint with Halo is that it really suffers when it becomes a corridor shooter, so having these big open spaces and plenty of vehicles is really good for me. The gunplay still doesn't satisfy me, for reasons I can't quite put my finger on, but the pacing of the missions makes up for this as I'm never in one gunfight for too long.

My absolute favourite part of the game so far? That music that plays after you complete a flashback. I'm not invested in the story or characters, so it doesn't get an emotional response out of me, but damn it's beautiful nonetheless. Bungie always do soundtracks so well.

College is a bitch. But I understand why Dani and Bagel stay up. Gaf is a pretty cool place. It provides really good reads about almost any subject.
I've had problems with papers I had to deliver because Gaf kept me up just reading around when I should be working.

:lol I'm gaffing while at a work conference...

Also, I agree that the terminals were a more compelling addition to the Halo Universe than the audiologs.

I'm 5/6 missions in now and just did the level where you
blew up the bridge, got pushed back into the building and had to hold out until evac got there.
I have to say the game is really starting to impress me - definitely my best experience with Halo so far. :D
