The Official Halo 3: ODST Thread

I know you meant natural difficulty, and you're right about that.

But maybe the existence of the skulls is what lowered the natural difficulty.

Edit: Grifball Double EXP again?
 
I finished my solo legendary run of ODST last weekend, and I'm still unsure where to place it among the other Halo titles, though it's certainly about Halo 2.

Ghal, I don't know how you managed to beat the game on Legendary with Mythic, but it must've been frustrating. :lol

Well it doesn't help you play the hardest level first on Legendary, Cairo Station was a bitch! Finally managed to get out and then beat all the way up to a little into Arbiters section.

Also I might be playing a Mythic run of H2 since Legendary seems to be starting to feel like a pushover.

The group that did Bungie Favs for this week (ReconLIVE) IIRC seems to have selected a lot of different things that weren't from members of their group. They listed a couple maps from a guy in one of the private groups I'm in, and he didn't know about it until someone brought it to his attention.

Seems...interesting. At least they liked your clip enough to put it in their selections for Bungie Favorites.

Finally getting around to playing ODST.

I'm going through the campaign on Heroic. How long should I expect it to take to finish? I've heard somewhere around 7hrs. Is that right?

Depends really. If you follow your NAV point only as the Rookie in Mombasa streets it will probably take you far less than that. If you do a little bit of exploring in Mombasa streets, I'd still say 7 hours is too long, but it will be close(r).

Definitely try to find the audio logs. I thought that story was excellent.

Thanks! I was hoping I could finish the campaign this weekend. I started last night and only got to the first/Buck's flashback.

I printed out an Achievement Guide & Audio Log map. So I'll be doing some exploring.

That was one of two instances that gave me trouble on Legendary my first time. It's what tought me to use the noob combo because that was the only way to beat it, that and sticking as many elites as possible. I kept running back to the previous room for more grenades :lol Did you use that combo? When I did another run way later, that part was rather easy employing that combo. I played a ridiculous amount of Halo 2 though, far more than 3. The game should be pretty easy for you all the way up to the other part that was a bit challenging, when Chief gets warped by gravemind and you spawn in that small locked room aboard Charity filled with brutes and all they give you is a needler :| This is the Halo 2 needler mind you!

Yea I always carried around two PP's and dropped one a bit back when in a skirmish then used up that and sparingly used BR. There was always a dead body with a BR near in each skirmish though. The second hangar and end part at bomb was the two toughest parts, but if you hang back where that marine is hiding at the bomb room they generally don't chase you back there and theres BR ammo on the wall. They definitely give you enough ammo, its just about taking it slow and comboing them one at a time.

Just got a sick Killtac in Sanctuary CTF too, only need a few more MP achievements.

Yeah the turret room was the annoying one. Just like you said though, one at a time with the combo. If you have patience, it isn't bad but you are playing against Halo's typical run and gun nature a little so it's like reverse engineering.

Sanctuary? Is there a forge map named that? No achievements in Halo 2...oh wait, did you say you were playing on PC? Do they have achievements for that version?
 
All of this Halo 2 talk spurred me to pop into Halo 2's matchmaking(I was expecting lag, cheating, and BRs that spat out Warthogs :lol ), and I did pretty good in this SWAT game. Essentially, "feels good man".
 
This statement will probably get a lot of hating in this thread, but I can safely say this is the first great Halo game in my books. It had a great setting, perfect length and thrilling action sequences.

I thought the story was totally forced, especially the romance, and I also didn't like the "exploration" aspect of the city as it was completely empty as far as I could tell other than the audio logs, but regardless of that it completely entertained me for six or so hours.:D

Damn does it take long to get the good samaritan achievement on your 2nd playthru?

If I would've known I was going to get free odst armor for my avatar I wouldnt've killed any of those things. They just look menacing I didnt know any better.

Just run through the campaign again on Easy. Trust me: not only will you get it done quickly, but it's also a lot of fun.:lol

Yea they're using v7.

Here's the deal about the stream. The official one will be on http://www.mlgpro.com right on the front page. However, it requires you install this Octoshape program that I think spreads the streaming load off of MLG and onto everyone watching. I think that's how it works. Basically it just shits on your internet. I've had many problems with it in the past where I can't just open a webpage or do anything while Octoshape and the stream are on.

There's usually 1 or 2 people on Justin.tv that stream the event and so I'll link those up when they become available so no one has to deal with that Octoshape bullshit.
