Overall it feels slightly smaller. I'm not sure if that's due to map design, Halo 3's movement/physics being different from Halo 2's, or a bit of both. The top of BR tower, though, feels significantly bigger.
The jumps have changed drastically, which I suppose can be construed as good or bad depending on your perspective. Some of the cool/difficult jumps have been made extremely easy, while others have been outright removed. I wasn't super hardcore into H2 so I might be missing some jumps, but these are what my friend and I noted.
- Top of lift to the bottom of BR tower is extremely easy.
- Side of BR tower to lower lift is extremely easy.
- Elbow up to Snipe 2 is impossible. The doorframe is gone.
- Elbow to the back of Snipe 1 is still possible.
- Middle (helipad) to handrail to Snipe 3 is still possible, possibly a little harder due to the shape of the new handrail.
- Snipe 1 to middle platform is now impossible without a grenade or equipment jump simply due to height.
- Jumping into and out of the window in the library (now named the "barracks") is impossible, as the window is now solid glass.
- Slide jumping into the sword window is now impossible, as this window is also solid glass.
We've found a couple new jumps but they involve grenades and/or equipment so they may or may not prove useful in a real game. It is now possible to grenade/equipment jump up from sword into the library/barracks. It is also possible to equipment jump up from shotgun into low middle (below the helipad). I think this might turn out to be useful because the power drainer spawns right there. I've been practising it a bit and I can get the drainer, drop down, get shotgun, then jump back up top pretty quickly.

You can't. And Frankie confirmed somewhere on the MLG Forums that you can't remove the window in Forge.NJ x Falkor said:If you can't shoot through this window I'm gonna be pissed.

Jesus. It's a window, FFS.NJ x Falkor said:If the artists are so "artsy" and they dont want to make direct ports, then tell them to get a fucking job as a painter or work with clay.
http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=13413AM: Most of the jumps, even the crazy ones from Halo 2, are there. However a few are tweaked or removed and there is one spot that was altered that makes it less easy to lock down a specific quadrant of the map. Also, the small platforms next to the air vent are at slightly different elevations.
GhaleonEB said:Jesus. It's a window, FFS.
GhaleonEB said:Dunno if that's referring to that spot, or the changed doorways in the shots Cocop posted. Odds are good all of the changes they made came from testing; you know, Bungie not wanting to make the best map they can. You'll know how it works in five days. That kind of vitriolic cheap shot over a window, when you haven't played the map, is pretty silly.
Nothing wrong with that - it's going to have a change on gameplay and I'm curious why it was done as well. I mostly took exception to the cheap shot at the artists for not giving him a direct geometry port (for starters, it's a design decision, not an artistic one). The whole sense of indignation at any change this close to release is just mystifying to me.soldat7 said:It does seem like a strange decision tho. I remember tossing some choice grenades into that room through that very window. Little things like that really defined how Lockout played (not a lot of 'safe' zones).
I'm not jumping on the complain train yet though!

I just checked right now and it is closed. What time and in what time zone do they allow you to register?Ramirez said:Yea, you have to make an account, but it's only open to a 100 or so a day due to it's popularity. Early morning is your best bet to make an account.
It wasn't a death trap before?Green Room is now a complete and utter death trap. No cover at all, and no way to bounce grenades out of it.
Ah, decent and 42ish, this is not the player you are looking for, had you said 20ish, then I would have been all ears :lolalisdair said:You can add multiple tags to your Halo3.Junk account. So Ramirez could add Trasher's and Nutter's tags, for example, and they'd be able to look through the stats and such without having their own account. The only thing you'd miss is not having a signature.
Anyone decent want to play some doubles or TS tonight, UK time? I'm on the GAF Halo list, and trying to get from 42 to 45.
NJ x Falkor said:Well Ghaleon, it's just risky. You take the most beloved Halo map ever, you bring it to Halo 3, call it a port, and start changing stuff. Yes I know these changes are minor, but isn't the gameplay of a map ultimately the culmination of its minor elements?
*snip*
I'm sorry if my cheap shots to the designers make you upset.
I am down...I would say I am decent...some on the board can confirm...I am a 43 in TS looking to 50 one day.alisdair said:Anyone decent want to play some doubles or TS tonight, UK time? I'm on the GAF Halo list, and trying to get from 42 to 45.
GhaleonEB said:There's nothing wrong with questioning changes in any level of detail, or getting worked up about design decisions. That's what hardcore fans do. It's natural, like sunshine and sex and bananas. I get a kick out of it, and that kind of stuff is partly why I like this place (and AJ). But I stay out of other corners of the internet because I don't like the stuff that goes down. MLG forums, gamefaqs, you know the list. The kind of stuff we make fun of here, frequently. So it surprised me that you'd stoop to that level, as if you take these design decisions personally and shot back in kind. You know me. I have no problem being hard on Bungie (Halo 3 story am fail), but I don't make it personal. That's where I draw the line. I was just surprised that you don't.
Trasher said:Uhhh, Nutter, I just watched the most boring video of you on Guardian that Urk posted. In the video you try to shoot someone halfway across the map with a mauler, and that was the only thing that appeared noteworthy to me. :lol
Ahhhh, I forgot that the samples aren't the full vid. Still though Nutter, why didn't you cut out the part with you shooting a mauler across the map?Brainboy said:Just found that video again to check. He gets a double sniper kill at the end with a single bullet.![]()

Come on guys this isn't bnet over here.
I don't see Halo as a sports team, cause the enjoyment with Halo is not seeing the sales number/popularity/beating other games/whatever, but actually playing the game and Bungie being really great towards its fans.NJ x Falkor said:Does it matter if your favorite sports team is number 1 or 2 ??

It receives a ton of recognition and popularity already man. Great reviews, ridiculous sales, incredible live playerbase. You can always want more, I guess. But a Halo fan shouldn't be bothered with that at this point.NJ x Falkor said:I understand that, but I like to see something that I really enjoy get the popularity and the recognition that it deserves.
So is this your first fps? Your first gamepad fps? If so, give yourself some time.house said:I bought a XBox with Halo 3 yesterday. So far, I'm having lots of problems with the controls (I only had a Wii before).
How the hell do I collect ammo? It annoys me that I always have to throw away my weapon when I'm out of ammo.
If you feel like you're not doing anything of skill, bump up the difficulty and try normal or higher. Was it a mistake to set the difficulty on easy? Even for a noob like me? It feels like the game plays itself (my buddies simply kill all enemies).
You collect ammo by walking over the same gun. Like, if you have a BR, you collect BR ammo by finding another BR and just passing over it.house said:I bought a XBox with Halo 3 yesterday. So far, I'm having lots of problems with the controls (I only had a Wii before).
