An ad-hoc crew stomping through Neutral Assault on Valhalla in matchmaking last night.

I'm the fellow in default armor wielding the fuck-awesome Assault Rifle.

That is all.

Wow, just finished "The Ark". What an amazing experience. I'm totally blown away. Right from the beginning when I landed on that huge desert / sand landscape, I knew this was gonna be an epic level. The scale was absolutely enormous. There was so much variety to this level in terms of gameplay... from on-foot, to on a mongoose, to the tank, to a warthog with the laser on back. Speaking of the warthog section... when the Scarab showed up and walked past me when I opened the door, that was just unbelievable. The detail and production values that went into this game are astounding. This was one of the best and most epic levels I've ever played in any game, to be honest. I liked the ending as well. I jumped down to this big circular platform where the evac is and fight a hammer brute (are they called chieftan?) while the other brutes watch and cheer on. The story's really starting to pick up with more info about The Ark, the Flood / Gravemind ship about to invade Earth, Prophet Truth trying to set off the rings... there's multiple story arcs going on at once which makes it feel really epic.

Also I played a few seconds of the next level before I turned it off... I can already tell this one's gonna be a monster as well. The new laser gun is pretty sweet.

Another thing I tried out was the save film feature... the theater. Is this the most feature-packed game ever or what? How the hell did they pack so much stuff into this? I saved two videos of 'Floodgate' and 'The Ark' and uploaded them. Great feature.

As for my avatar Metroid, finding good pics of her isn't exactly easy, I found a pretty sweet fan art of her though, but it doesn't really do well for an avatar.

Some of you photoshop fugs could help me out thoguh. :( :lol

Much better. Thank you, Thermite, for helping him truly represent the wonder that is MGS. ....Lol.

Now, to find another Boss picture, or switch over to Meryl....

Btw, I hate Live, it kicks me off at random times.. oh well.

Can't handle your constantly whining about no one inviting you blazing fast connection.

Revenge is sweet. J/K.

Bungie hired two dozen content hamsters to get stuff in. The woodchip expenses were enormous, but it was worth it in the end.

Yeah, those are Chieftains. The Ark is a great showcase for everything that's good in Halo. The vehiclular combat, large set-pieces, indoors, sniping. It's got the works.

Well, I lost track of my betrayal count, but I betrayed Eazy a tleast five times throughout the night, Ramirez twice, Striker once and I think someone else. I'm horrible :(

Picking up the slack for me, I see. Eazy and Ram were no doubt deserved.

Also, Kbear, it is cool to hear impressions, as others have said.....I wonder what you'll think come after this level.....

I thin the next level (The Covenant) is the best in the series. You'll have a blast. :D

Good games tonight, hope to see Trasher and Blood on tomorrow you bastards!
Yup, it was good times. I'm starting to get worn out on social matches though.

Matchmaking is super strict when it comes to ranked matches that it's oftentimes impossible to find a match but social matchmaking is so liberal in the teams it makes up that the games are rarely anything that could resemble a competitive match.

And Nutter, you'll always get an invite from me :)

Is it the best looking game out there or even in the top 5? Probably not but does it still look awesome at times? Hell yea. And to be honest, the lighting is some of the best I've seen this gen. The beginning of this Flood level looked beautiful with the sun setting (forgot to take a pic of that). Halo 2 HD my ass!
It's a cheap thing to say, but I think if you could somehow flick a switch and give the game 2x or 4x AA it definitely would be top five for the generation so far. But I haven't seen a game that does lighting as beautifully, and of course the scale of it is impressive throughout (even more so when you see just how huge these levels are when you break out of them for panoramic distance shots, Vociferous-style). I've also seen vastly varying results on different TVs (my friend's does some sort of AA/filtering of its own, and the game looks ay-may-zingly crisp and smooth).

The 'Flood hive' areas you mentioned return later. I think they're beautiful too, but unfortunately the gameplay is not quite so hot (at least relative to the rest of Halo 3).

hey guys now I can go buy GTA without my parents having to be there!

goodbye halo 3 community </3

J/k <333 I'm not leaving! But I am 17 D:

I was having a hard time in Team SWAT last night. It was one of those nights where nothing goes your way. I'm afraid to go into TS alone and losing my rank, on the bright-side I met up with some amuzing Texans...

Any news on the Double EXP weekend? I'm not working tomorrow so I hope it's something new.

Getting three hours of sleep is awesome...

I couldn't do shit in S.W.A.T. last night. I was shooting people and none were dying. But at least Nutter and Domino were doing good.

Damn I missed one of the data terminals... there's 7 of them, I got 1, 2 and 4 so far. Any where I can read what it says online?

Voc has the contents listed as well as a breakdown on his Web site. The link has been posted numerous times in the thread, so it shouldn't be that hard to find. Some pretty interesting stuff in there.

Enough with the Frankieshops already. They were funny for a while, but the quality is declining and they're not as funny as they used to be.

I am playing Halo 3 so hard.

also: i like to eat fucktons of food and never gain weight. Kekekeke.
I was like that. My metabolism hit the brakes at about age 22. Now I have to be careful, and hit the exercise machine a few times each week.

I can still remember those days, but at the ripe age of 31, it's getting harder. I've had knee surgery, have back problems and my hair has suddenly decided to turn grey. Woo!

But there's a silver lining. All I need is a cane and in a few years I can start my crabby old man routine a full decade early. I've been looking forward to this.

"Off the lawn, kids!"

Interesting impressions, kbear. Keep 'em coming. I'm interested to hear what you'll think of the rest of the game. In my opinion, you just played the greatest Halo level in the series. Though, many feel that the next one is better.

Happy birthday!

You're leaving your youth behind! IF you're lucky, you'll get to spend the next several decades doing things you DON'T want to do so that you can one day have a lot of time to do the things you DO want to do.

Then, by the time you reach that glorious threshold, you'll be too old and cranky to have fun.

...Ice cream cake?

Pretty soon you'll think games are killing simulators, and you'll be a republican. :(

Also, grey hair at 31? That sucks. Soon enough, you'll take your daughters to their school or soccer game or something and have one of their friends ask you if you're their grandpa. That won't feel good.

I can still do that. I subsist off of cake.

TDG: I don't like sweets. D:

I like Spartan Lasers though. I wish I got a Spartan Laser for my birthday!

I have to watch what I eat also or it will catch up to me real quick. I'm noticing my hairline is slightly receding. I'm turning 28 this month. This is depressing. Thanks a lot for reminding me of my fading youth, now I'm depressed.
