Gemini was one of the worst Halo 2 maps ever. Although I will say we liked getting it because my team had a solid strat on that level that lead to many steaktaculars if they were to exist.

Midship was the second best H2 map after Lockout. It was the perfect MLG FFA map and its arena circular style map lead to great 4v4 objective games and some really good Double Team Slayer BR games.

Also I would like to create the MM playlist's just for a month. O man I wish I could.

I could never stand Midship either. Though I think your love for Gemini could only be explained by your fetish with trees.

Well I personally despised Midship. MLG had a hardon for it though. I always got stuck on some random chunk of geometry. Gemini was only slightly better then Midship in my opinion. What with super-bouncing and getting on top of the doughnut and the mad rush for the sword at the beginning.

Gemini > Midship ... only slightly, only slightly.

Gemini was a strange map for me because playing on a widescreen TV solo the lighting was fine. However, playing split screen the map became really dark and hard to see. All of this without changing any TV settings.

Sanctuary and Turf were 2 of the best maps for Halo 2. Snipers on Sanctuary was great fun.

I agree with you except for the last post. Switch out Sanctuary and Turf for Headlong and Relic and now we're talking.

In all honesty. Bring back Midship and I will never complain again! :D

I second this. Midship is probably one of my favorite Halo maps of all time. Shotguns on Midship was amazing. Swords wasn't bad either. I'd still like to see Boarding Action make a comeback as well, but I may be in the minority there.

Trying to grind my way to 45 in Lone Wolves to get to Brigadier, instead of the lowly Colonel Grade 2 that I just got. Got from 40 to 42 this afternoon. I think I can make it, just going to take some dedication. One bad game throws me off.

I'm a Colonel Grade 2, still don't have my Overkill achievement though. And I was about to get it on Epitaph today, shot the fourth game with the Shotgun and he melee'd me after I Shotgun'd him point blank in the stomach...Robbed dammit, robbed!

I don't think so.

I can see why. No need for you to understand the love for Midship, It was a well rounded competitive map. And no I do not care how many Elites will cry if we ever get it.
I think you just named the reason why: it's a competitive map. The only competitive map I have ever liked was Lockout.

Edit:

I didn't like it as much as midship, but I thought Gemini was a really really fun map. Can someone explain what they didn't like?

I'm up for dragging Ghal up to 20 via Team Slayer or Team Objective. My natural rank is about ~35, but I'm much lower than that in both those, so I should be a pretty good candidate to help out.

I'd also like to start running with the GAF Halo 3 crew - I've been getting back into the 360 shooter trilogy (COD4, GoW, H3) the last few weeks, and Halo is the one I miss most by far. But literally no one on my friends list plays anymore.

So... please send some invites my way. GT is ErrorJustin.

All right, not grinding any more Lone Wolves today. Made it to 42 and played a few more games and was just getting frustrated. Couldn't get anything to swing my way. No good grenade bounces, lost like a dozen melee duels, just couldn't get anything going. I'll do it bit by bit I guess.

Oh and if there's one thing that I want out of the Lone Wolves hopper...Fucking BR's on Guardian. Get that shit out of here. Every time I play that I start at the bottom of the ramp and the guy acrossed from me gets the overshield and rapes me.

Stop running towards the guy with the full OS. Hang out at the lower lift that brings you to snipe 3 until the other clowns in the game tear the OS guy apart.

When I played it, it seemed as if people camped the teleporters. Sniper always stayed at the back of the map and would run through the teleporter if someone was coming after him. And there was always some asshole sitting above the tree with a brute shot.

The back of the map has three entrances. Two of them are doors that give a loud whooshing noise when you get near them. By each of these doors is a shotgun, so if the other team sets up and puts a guy by each of the doors, you ain't gettin' back there through them. The third option is a teleporter, with easy access to the sniper spawn, so not only does the entrenched team have shotguns at the ready, they have a sniper sitting back on one of those overhanging ledges that stick out quite far, with plenty of cover from fire on every side. Most games really just devolved into one team setting up back there and the other team not having much of a choice but to try and remove them from the area (which usually involved rushing in like idiots). Its one of the few maps that I would say ever encouraged camping. And this was before the invention of shield doors even.

Another issue was people camping up at the top teleporter exits. If a team got both sides, it was hard to dislodge them because you would be assassinated as soon as you exited the teleporter, and it was fairly difficult to get grenades up there.

The basic layout of it. Spawning was extremely predictable.

Camping with the 2 shotguns by any of the doors or walls.

Snipe was overpowered because it was a covenant level (plasma rifle spawns = terrible)

One team always had a better chance at the OS which was overpowered.

Not enough carbines

Plasma fest

Standing behind teleporter waiting for easy assassinations

and yes the asshole Brute shot guy up in the tree

Followed by sword to promote more camping...

Take your pick at any of the above.

the disgruntled gamer said:
You sure about that? I don't think that's ever been confirmed...

I know The Pit was codenamed Cyberdyne, and later Gym Class, but I never thought it was Warthog Inc.

Cyberdyne was the only map from the leaked beta code that never made it into Halo 3. There were 12 maps in the beta code and the game shipped with 11. Warthog INC. is The Pit.

It's funny, I don't recall encountering any of those problems in all my games on Gemini.

I hardly ever think about weapon selection and weapon placement in judging a map. If you don't like being blasted with the shotgun when you pop through a teleporter, then stop popping through the teleporter. ADAPT.

I pretty much love every Halo map except Chiron and Isolation.

Hey, doesn't Domino come back tomorrow night?

Has Bungie ever actually said anything about this? I don't remember them ever calling The Pit Warthog Inc. or Cyberdyne. Only Gym Class.

I'll give Gemini this however - whoring the sniper during KOTH games out back by the teleporter and dropping kids in the middle was fun.

Just got back on and said...Ah, two more Lone Wolves games won't hurt before dinner, after I was already a bit frustrated. Guess what both games were? BR's on Guardian. God damn. At least I won one of them. Hate it so much though. Normal Slayer on Guardian is fine...It's just BR's there that pisses me off.

I know.
eh....

Maybe he just never played the map in Team Slayer like the rest of us. In any case, Gemini was "THE" worst map in Halo 2.

I was orginally going to answer to tango how that was related, but on second thought ill leave that topic alone since my medical knowledge is limited.

He was too busy driving warthogs off cliffs to notice how the map played.

Completely agree, Gemini seemed only to function as a FIESTA map.

i'm talking out of my ass on everything medically related, but i also would rather not go there

No, not it wasn't. I played it in Team Slayer just like everyone else. I highly enjoyed it.

Burial Mounds, Containment and Waterworks beg to differ.

As far as that goes, the extra map could have been the test map with all the texture surfaces on it and all the items and so forth.

And Warthog Inc. being Rats nest was never clear cut, but its safe to assume since theres 4 hogs on that map.

Waterworks was an amazing map. What I would give to see a Halo3 rendition of it...

Now Burial Mounds equals Gemini and Backwash as what I would consider "Garbage" maps.

Burial Mounds is seriously my least favorite Halo map of all time for Objective games. All of my friends hated it as well. I don't know if it's the map itself, or that it came up in Matchmaking like every other game and we played it way too much. But it was pretty hard to score in Objective games there and it made it frustrating.

Containment...I unfortunately don't remember. Waterworks was...Cool for BTB, but BTB is a hit and miss thing with Halo. Usually a pretty small community. I don't mind it, but none of my friends ever want to play it.

Backwash, I actually liked the vibe of, but never really got to play it enough in Matchmaking to get a grasp for. Gemini was pretty bland in my opinion. Nothing special. Not worth making a comeback in Halo 3. I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Sanctuary come back, but my number one request is still Midship. Midship, Midship, Midship! And flame grenades. On one map. One map!

Hoping Bungie and Microsoft show off the next full blown Halo 3 Map Pack at E3 along with their new game:D Can't wait.

Why the hell does everyone quit in MLG?

If they are down and feel like they are going to lose they just quit and don't even play, wtf is up with that!? Its so infuriating when you are just trying to have fun by playing hard. I don't see that shit in any other playlist.

I never knew that was Penitent Tangent flying around backwash. I was trying to find some Backwash gameplays on mlgpro but I failed. That map got no respect but if two good teams played a BR start on that map it was epic.
