I finally got all the new achievements! They were all legit too. This last one was especially hard to get:

Congrats, I found that achievement a bitch to get when I tried and gave up. One time I was messing around and the damm thing pops up. I was happy and miffed at the same time.

The one I love hearing the most is 'he's one-shot on my X' - from a random teammember I don't know; by the time I've glanced down at the bottom right corner, he's stopped talking, so his name's not there, and looking around, there are 2-3 X's around the map.

"Over here" is pretty nice, too, though. Or "Look out - right behind you!" (generic, no identifier of the target)

I wasn't trying in particular either. I only came to my senses when I figured I was close to 5 splats.
 
Is Smashed being added to the playlists? Or are you guys just being wishful?

I like this one too. I love it because they are usually by themselves not letting us know what's up. Being shot by three dudes then expects the rest of the team to stop what they are doing, working as a team of three, and shot one of the guys that arn't even close to us. Then he spawns and noob rushes them again, and yells "ONE SHOT ON MY X, WHAT R U GUYZ DOIN'? SOME HELP!!!!"

You guys really need to start playing more MLG. This noobish behavior needs to stop.

I've been trying to get this one for a while. It's the only one I have left to get. Anyone have any tips on a good playlist or vehicle to use? I've been mostly trying to use the ghost on Avalanche. I've gotten close, but no dice yet.

on the right track i got mine in the 7 on 7th playlist its was an all avalanche playlist (wait for territories very easy)

Smashed has already been chosen and implemented into at least Social Team DLC and allegedly in Team Object and Team Slayer according to Bungie.net members.

I don't know how I feel about it being in Team Slayer because of its competitive nature but the others I am fine with.

Edit: I have only played one match on smashed so take that for what for what it is worth.

Easy. Could've gotten that achievement 5 times over in this single match.

I don't object to it being any any of the playlists. The only grudge I hold against the map is how after so long without anything and comments similar to "most community maps don't play well"; Smashed I expected something more polished than Smashed to be the one that finally fit Bungie's qualifications.

Ive had 5 or 6 games on Smashed in Team Slayer. BR starts are so so but AR starts is a nightmare (sorry Dax). If your team dies the other team gets up high and dominates with the BR, with nothing much you can do about it :|

Yup, I played a Team Slayer game on Smashed. Not fun (because of the spawns). The layout was alright, but it made it feel like Ghost Town with all these loose ends sticking out affecting grenade throws and general movement.

Spawns are worse than default Foundry (and that's saying a lot).

Did you win the match? I find myself liking maps that I do well on. But if I keep on doing bad, I usually blame it something other than me. Like the map, spawns, host, cheating, team-mates. The other team rarely deserves to win...:D

shotgun lag? is this gears?

so i was playing some loal multiplayer with my fiance's nephews a while back. i chased one of them inside a base in standoff. he had a spartan laser, i had a shotgun. he started charging the laser, i dropped a bubble shield. the laser was blocked by the shield, and i charged out of it, shotgunned him from mid to mid-close range and meleed him. he survived, punched me (once!) and i died...

then, probably a full second after i died, we heard a shotgun shot go off and he was killed. watching a replay it seriously looks as though when i died, the shotgun fell from my hands, hit the ground, and discharged. killing him. :lol

it was just the two off us, and local split screen. never seen anything like that before. serious wtf moment. can anyone shed some light on what likely happened?

i suppose i could take some screens or a video if anyone is really curious...

Yeah, this is really weird. I have heard of it happening, but I've never seen it in-game myself. Even more interesting that it happened on local multiplayer, which pretty much removes the possibility of it being latency-induced.

that is EXACTLY it, except mine got a kill! :lol

i wonder if i had hit the button to fire the instant i was killed and the shotgun has an ever so slight delay that caused it to not actually fire till the game said my death was over and the gun was 'free' again... odd.

That's sort of awesome :lol Accidental discharge would be a fun random game play element, but as I learned from Smash Bros brawl "Tripping" nobody likes random ;)

I took the liberty of spending an hour in forge cleaning up Smashed a little bit. I focused on the most glaring mistakes and a few touch ups that were easy to do. If I had more time and felt it was more valuable I would go back and make a lot of other touch ups but the overall outcome looks good.

Before both boxes aren't pushed up against the wall and the gaps between the wall and boxes are filled with a bridge and a double wall still leaving big gaps.

I have still yet to play the map but spending more time running around it today it seems like it'd be really fun and now without the game-breaking gaps and cleaned up corners it's looking really nice. I uploaded it to my fileshare for those that want to check out the changes or for those that haven't seen the map at all yet. I'm interested in getting some GAF games going on this.

Late to the party on the Lockout/Blackout thing, but I wanted to chime in about it.

Blackout has a completely different feel and flow to it. The elbow to Snipe2 jump removal means that now there is only one way to get from elbow to snipe2, instead of the original 2. This makes it easier for the snipe tower to be defended and usually ends up being a statemate of sorts on the ramp going to Snipe2.

The line of sight in a couple of areas make the map seem smaller and more contracted. The obvious addition of a window instead of an opening in library is one of them. And then the two doorways at Snipe1 no longer match up, so sight from one end of the map to the other becomes difficult.

This has nothing to do with the map and I don't mean to be tedious, but the increase in BR spread also makes it much more difficult to kill opponents on opposite sides of the map. The long-range BR duals from BR3 and Snipe 3/2 are just no longer present or take much longer to complete.

One thing that I've noticed is that fights don't usually occur on the center platform anymore. This is just my personal experience, I don't know why. Also, the sniper seems to be much more useful on Blackout than Lockout.
This is all coming from a person who played 10,000 games of Halo 2, half of which were on Lockout.
The other half being spent on Headlong, the most perfect map of all time.
 
I'm probably in the minority on this one but here goes: please take the sniper rifles out of Standoff Heavies. No sniper rifle on the map in other gametypes is one of the inspired design decisions on that map. Adding them in Heavies is pure pain. It completely breaks the map.

Elbow to Snipe2 is definitely still there. I use it all the time.

Unless you are playing the MLG version, you can't jump from elbow to Snipe2 on Blacout. All the doorframe jumps were removed, severely impairing the multiple routs to take to get to places.

Oh my bad. I was thinking of Elbow to Snipe 1/2. Like, around the corner, to the ramp.
