Just played with this dude. I looked at his gamercard and discovered he's selling accounts. Maybe someone from Bungie wants one? ;)

Why do people have write like that in their Bio. Are those characters necessary? I can barely read that shit!!

Oh and boosting 50's is baaad Mmmmkay >:(

Man, Sandbox looks totally awesome. There's no way I'm supporting MS' bullshit decision of including it in the Halo Wars CE though, and by the time it comes out on Marketplace most of my friends will probably just wait for ODST :(

...So they're gonna wait until this fall or later, rather than say, April-ish?

Casual gamers; most of these people still don't have the Legendary Map Pack because it's not free. A large part of the reason I don't play as much anymore is because probably half of my friends can't do large chunks of matchmaking. Obviously pretty much anyone in this thread will be buying it.

To Revengeance and anyone talking about the Perfection/Extermination/Killtacular achievements. Remember this?

"Team Mythic is going to be a social 4v4 playlist exclusive to owners of the Mythic Map Pack. Primarily slayer, Team Mythic will feature Slayer, Slayer BRs, SWAT, and Snipers. Additionally, 2 Flag, Neutral Assault, and even Grifball will make cameos at a lower weighting. The playlist will feature all three Mythic maps, including Sandbox in multiple variants."

Personally, I've decided I'm going to wait for ODST. I've already purchased $20 of DLC for Halo 3 and I think that's quite enough. Since ODST won't hit until Fall and I'll be busy with some other games and school before then so I can stand to wait.

Speaking of perfections, a couple of days ago, I was one kill away from getting one in the MLG playlist. ONE KILL. Of course in the process of going for that last kill, I get double teamed and die. Ended up going 16-1 :(
Sandtrap- Ranked Big Team
Valhalla- Squad Battle
Guardian- Team Slayer

My games of shame.

In these three games I went 14-0. In all three instances I had my last kill stolen, or time ran out as I had the enemy in my crosshairs :(

Don't you guys realize the new maps are FREE???????

with purchase of Halo Wars LE of course

Wow so most of you Halo GAFers are really buying the Halo Wars LE in order to get the new maps? That has got to suck.

I was already going to get Halo Wars and the new maps so I figure I'll hand over ten extra dollars for the comic book and chance to get the maps over a month earlier.

There are a few tools here doing so.

And as far as achievements go, Grifball will make the killtac and extermination really easy. The perfection will take a while but will come relatively quickly.

Any new infos about Halo 3 ODST? I hope bungie will release a trailer with gameplay footage at GDC 2009...
They might be physically able to do that considering where the game is in development, but I really doubt that they would. The release is likely to be no earlier than September, which would hint that we probably won't get too much media before July/August. I would imagine that E3, PAX and TGS are better candidates for something like that -- depending on which ones come immediately before the game's released. There's also the possibility that before the end of the year Microsoft might make an announcement on their Halo studio and its project(s) and/or we'll find out what Bungie's next game is.

Isn't it twenty dollars extra?

To be fair, if you use your noggin and pick up the Halo Wars LE, use the map code, then sell the game on quickly, you'd probably not pay much more than $10 for the maps, anyway.

...Somehow missed the "scale" of the crypt until I saw FightyF's post. Hooooly shit. Unless it's a zoomed shot, isn't that quite a bit bigger than Foundry?

Slightly bigger than Foundry with the divided sections closed off (i.e. little bigger than a grifball court).

Yup. The overhead with spawn points might be the best way to get a grip on the size and scale. It's a good-sized space.

My brother bought Crackdown and I played the Beta without signing up (yes you read that correctly) or shelling out any money.

I win.
Crackdown was a fucking awesome game.

Everybody won.

Does anyone have any tips (for MLG moreso) regarding H3? I'm not really a novice, but I haven't really given the game all that much play. I have played it on and off since I've had it but have rarely put in a string of days together with it where it was the dominant game I was playing. I'm a big fps fan, and the lack of having an fps I enjoy has been killing me so I'm investing more time in H3 now to at least get the competitive juices flowing again.

I'm not horrible...I have a 1.61 KDR and am a 40+ in most gametypes that matter, but I haven't been able to retain the confidence in H3 that I had in H2. I think its mostly the map design. For whatever reason I just always find my positioning to be awful. It seems like whenever I focus on an area someone somehow catches me in the flank and it's to late, or I get 3 shots into a guy and then he has help coming out of nowhere. to some of the guys who find going positive to be pretty much routine do you find yourself being more cautious or do you like to be extremely aggressive?

The more I play Standoff Heavy, the more I think it's one of my favorite modes.

I have such nostalgia for Halo:CE Blood Gulch with Warthogs, Ghosts and Tanks. Standoff Heavy feels like a great evolution of that.

Maybe I need to hop around like a rabbit more.

You do what you gotta do. ;P

But seriously, jumping at the last second has saved me more times than I can count. Thanks Bumper Jumper!

I'd say you shouldn't be focusing on positioning as much as two things: BR and Grenades.

If you've got those down, just focus on team shooting / team work.

Once you learn how to put a grenade where you need it and grab the headshot shortly thereafter, you'll be feeling like a champ.

My grenades definitely need some work. For whatever reason I just haven't been able to get them down in H3...they feel heavier or something. My BR is a work in progress. If there's one thing I've always felt okay with it's my BR. My LONG ranging needs some work though. There are situations where I know I'm unzooming a guy from range but he's constantly smacking me from clear across the map and I have no idea how he's remaining so consistent from all the way back there. I'm messing around with my sens as I play and I'm sure it's something that will improve the more I practice.

Never tried Bumper Jumper but Boxer is great. So much better than default layout.

Well there you go. Jump moar. Around corners. Over heads. Even just to see shit. Jumping's where it's at.
Will do. I might try out a new layout or something as well, but I dunno. Default has served me pretty well so far.

Since there isn't a official Halo Wars thread yet, and it has something to do with the canon and halo story.

It was posted on the Halo Wars forum from someone who got the game early...

(warning: wall of text)

Campaign

Let me start off with a question on this one. ES, wtf? Honestly, I don't know what you guys were thinking when you made the campaign. Don't get me wrong, you guys were good(to some degree) with the canon. I don't know what happened... Either you guys dropped the canon into a few thousand pieces, and tried to piece it back together with glue and scotch tape... And you seem to be forgeting the closer part with certain vehicles and units. Graheme once said as an example "The reason you don't see wolverines is because the factory was on Mars, and that factory was bombed in 2535 blah blah blah...". Either you guys forgot to add the reasons, or I'm not looking hard enough. Maybe the answers are in the black boxes that are scattered throughout the campaign, so I could be wrong there. Anyway, to get on a good note, the campaign is atleast fun. To make a long story longer, this campaign is only for a select few groups. If you like fun, and are not much into story telling, you'll have a blast playing the campaign. If you're one of those people who only played halo 3, never read any of the books, and basically know nothing of the story, like RTS games, you should like this campaign. If you like to watch things crash and burn, then you should also play the campaign. Also, you achievement whores should like the campaign, as most of the achievements are there.

Now, here are the people who should avoid the campaign. People who have an overly obsetion with the halo story line, that a single inconsistancy will send you into a frenzy and killing spree. If you like a good story that makes sense, stay away from this. If you are one of those achievement whores who are also a fan of the halo story, you'll more than likely tear yourself in two unsure if you should do the campaign or not. Although, you could always play co-op and have the other guy do all the work while you do something else.

Let me sum up those two paragraphs with this. If you like the halo story, then avoid this campaign. If you like fun, achievements, and don't care for the halo story, you'll enjoy the campaign.

So far OXM said the story was ok, and Gameinformer said it is a story for any Halo junkie. We'll just have to see when it comes out if it is actually closer to the canon or not. (crosses fingers)

Yeah, probably one of the most important skills in MLG is learning to put shots on anyone and everyone that you come across. Many times, you'll find yourself outnumbered or ambushed by 2 or more players. In these situations, the best thing that you can do is put a couple of shots on them or toss a couple of grenades and try to drop their shields for your teammates to clean up. Don't be discouraged if you die -- many deaths can be useful for getting a set up going on a particular map or diverting the other team from the objective.

Learn to shoot across the map, scoping as little as you possibly can. It's difficult to do at first, but then you won't have to deal with clicking the right stick in between getting shot by your opponent.

Also, learn to play around the power weapons. In most MLG maps, weapons and powerups are on a 2 minute timer. Learn to count time and base some of your strategy on when these certain weapons and powerups will show up.

And as always, keep working on getting those 4 and 5 shots down, as well as on tossing grenades to land exactly where you want them to. Probably one of the most useful grenade tosses that comes to mind is from top gold to S3 on Guardian -- has been used many a time to take down pesky snipers.

Edit: How did I forget this? Probably the most important part of MLG is teamwork. You have to learn to shoot as a team and make callouts as a team in order to win. There is no I in Halo.
