In team slayer, do you lose less trueskill (or whatever) if you lose a close game as compared to getting blown out?

No, you lose the same amount. If you lose 49-50 it's the same as losing 2-50. The ranking system doesn't take assists or MVP or whatever into account. It's cut and dry. You win enough you go up, lose you go down.

Has that ever been confirmed? I always kinda felt that if you were consistently going positive in your loses you would be better off than someone who was going negative.

I capped the winning flag in that game.

ur welcome.

Again, AR combined with single Plasma rifle >>>>>>>> BR.

haha. Dude, were you apart of this? ~ After an EPIC team effort to get the Red team's flag captured in the last seconds of the game, someone on my team was stopped as time ran out:

Q: Does the TrueSkill ranking system reward individual players in a team game?

A: The only information the TrueSkill ranking system will process is:

o Which team won?
o Who were the members of the participating teams?

The TrueSkill ranking system takes neither the underlying exact scores (flag captures, kills, time etc.) for each team into account nor which particular team member performed how well. As a consequence, the only way players can influence their skill updates is by promoting the probability that their team wins.

I don't know, I might be able to agree with that. When I got my 50 I was consistently going, like, -12 KD every game because I was driving the Warthog for Self/Kawl. But I went up to 50 before they did (actually, Kawl still hasn't made it).

oh my god ARs on Assembly jeeeeeeeesuuuuus chhhhhhhhhhhriiiiiiisttttttttttt make this game all BR starts already. Shishka learn how to play Halo.

I can't help but think that Bungie had a completely different plan in mind when they originally released the last title update and the new achievements.

They did. I'm pretty sure all of the Mythic maps were supposed to be released in summer/autumn of 2008.

This isn't a great example, because it's not an Xbox 360 title, but Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is the sort of approach I've expected. In Chaos Theory, there are three modes, three separately-crafted game experiences: one for campaign, one for adversarial multiplayer and one for cooperative campaign -- all of which are extremely different. If you've played the game, you can tell that operate on an individual basis just by navigating through the protracted and egregious UI, despite being stored on a single DVD.

This is a really interesting example, and I remember exactly what you're talking about. I'm pretty sure Chaos Theory and Pandora Tomorrow before it were both developed by two seperate teams at the same time (Ubisoft Montreal/Annecy and Ubisoft Shanghai/Annecy according to Wikipedia). The two components were simply slapped together on the disk at the last moment, I guess.

This isn't really related to the ODST portion of your discussion, but we do not have the ability to unlock Achievements for players based on stats dumps for Halo 3. It would be nice if it was as simple as you outlined, but it's definitely not.

It'll be more like Bungie.net profiles who have completed all of the Vidmaster's Achievements will have an option to "Unlock Recon" that a user can click. Once that option is selected by the Bungie.net user then a bunch of other stuff happens behind the scenes and voila the player will have Recon.

Thanks for the insight Luke. So, if I read you right, folks that conquer Vidmaster will have an option on Bungie.net, similar to having the 7th column/Bungie.net symbol on their name in game in Halo 3, that allows Recon.

Sounds good.

I know that answering the question specifically may not be possible, at least at this point, but thanks for providing us with some info on it.

Tracking Vidmaster progress and knowing how close a player is to getting Recon will be much more discoverable than finding out what to click to enable the Septagon.

Makes sense, what with one being more desired than the other. It's good to see that something as popular as Recon will be handled properly, some folks are still in the dark about the Bungie.net profile symbol, even now.

Do I smell a b.net upgrade coming in the future?

We had a nice face lift this week to top off some significant changes that rolled out earlier in the year. Plenty of under the hood functionality went in for us to fiddle around with too. Our online guys are like magicians without the super hot assistants. We need to get them some of those. Or stuff Stosh into a pair of fishnets.

When the BuTube goes live, Bungie employees in fishnets would be far more appealing than Halo 3 clips. You guys are on to something big.

Can we give our monies in advance for this?

What if you don't know your email/password :(

HaloGAF customs in 5 hours. Maybe Frankie will play more then 1 and a half games this time :) . I think we need to play some CTF/assault games for Vhfive on Sanctum, plus a few for Ghaleon's Entrenched. We will be playing Mage, but are there any gametypes you particularly want tested, Bladed?

If I don't see these buggers on Atlas after tonight, I will have to throw hump-backed midgets wearing fishnets at all three of you.

Has anyone made a dodgeball type map? Take the bottom part of sand box, put a big wall across the middle to separate the teams. Then put nothing but nades on the bottom of each side (that constantly respawn). Then you have to just throw em over the wall.

Was a killer type map in counterstrike back in the days.

I am definitely down for some GAF Customs tonight. I usually miss out on these sorts of things cause I don't pay attention. :lol But not this time!

Cool, I'll be on.

Dodgeball sounds awesome. I'm also looking to make a golf course for my next (next) map, since I haven't seen any.

Found a handful of tips to work around and generally thwart Forge's leveling issues. I'll post a little guide tonight or tomorrow, though I'm sure most of those who have had the maps for a while have figured them out by now.

No need to place grenades on the ground for people to pick up. There's a "grenade regeneration" option in Custom Games so that players automatically have infinite grenades that are constantly given to you when you use one.

You wouldn't respawn. Also maybe add one of those deathball things (yellow ones) close to the walls so people don't camp and hide (from the nades).

OR could raise the walls maybe a ft so people can throw nades under it.

I wonder if you could make it so that you would have to be stuck to die? Can the grenade splash damage be turned off?

okay :D I'm trying to think of any other details i can from that map.

Hey guys, my usual party are either an ocean away in New York, at wedding parties or - and I quote - "shaggin'". This means I'm no longer bound by their strict Left 4 Dead / Halo Wars / Peggle regime, and am ready to join in on any GAF Halo 3.

In summary, are there games going down in GMT friendly hours?

Which type of walls are you using? If you use shield does we can see the other team. (which would be nice).

Maybe we might do respawn with a limit on kills, so we don't have 1 guy just dodging nades for an hour.

Sai-kun said:
Should I do he_dodgeball, or just the standard one, which is just the crypt separated by glass?

Well if we can disable guns, you can do the opened one. I just don't know how far you can push forge.

i was gonna do shield but you can walk through those, and i'm kinda ehhhh on honor rules :|

Well if thats a problem, maybe take this to the sky, just build a big enough gap between each side. And a big enough floor for us to walk on and nades to land.

I'm on live if you need more ideas (might be cleaner than posting everything on here) Timan25

i got distracted by wow so lemme get back to you and invite you in a few minutes :D

How did this dodgeball thing go from someone's crazy idea to someone actually making it in about 10 posts?
Anyway:

This sounds like the best idea to me. No need for anything between the two halves of the court. Also it would surely lead to people being spectacularly thrown off the sides of the court (and thus to their death) due to chain-reaction explosions.

If Dax is going to be playing on it, then honor rules arn't gonna work.

Making it in the sky is a great idea. I played a dodgeball game in Halo 2 on collasous (sp) where the teams wer eon opposite sides of the bases and shot brute shots at each other. It was a lot of fun. If you make the bases far enough away, you could do brute shots as well as grenades.

For Sir Fragula, the GAF customs usually ramp up around 8/9 EST.
