:( shame.

I encourage you all to buy, buy buy the British version, though! And try Ashes to Ashes once you finish it!

EDIT: Looked it up!

Life on Mars 1:
Under $15 USD
Life on Mars 2: Under $15
Life on Mars Complete: $35
Life on Mars 1 Blu Ray: $20
Life on Mars 2 Blu Ray: $20
Ashes to Ashes 1: Under $15

Not sure how much shipping will set you back, but the point is that you could probably pick up the complete story so far in 2 series' of LOM and 1 A2A for not much more than one 'official' US DVD of the UK series.

My wife won't let me watch the BBC version until after her finals and Civil Engineering certification exam so I'm doubly sad now. I'm glad they're getting to end the series because, seriously, how long could they have held this idea? 2 seasons at the most, right? So one season with the ability to end the show is actually a small silver lining.

ratings actually went up 24% last night...

Fans of ABC's "Life on Mars" (5.7 million, 2.1/6) either didn't get the memo that the time-travel drama was canceled, or are suddenly nostalgic for that '70s show. "Mars" jumped 24% in one of those post-verdict ratings swings that doubtless annoy network executives. Somewhere at ABC a phone is ringing with a "Mars" producer on the line ("Hey, hey, wait, it went up!"). That the other networks were in repeats at 10 p.m. likely helped.

not like it matters or anything.

My biggest problem is the Wednesday airdate, I have it set in my mind that nothing airs on Wednesday, unless its South Park, so I never remember that its on.

It's pretty much an exact copypasta of a TOS episode so I didn't really feel the need to talk about it. I did like the final shot, however. More ammunition for the "he's cuckoo" camp.

Liked The Weathermen episode from last week a lot, BTW. Makes me wish they had opted for like 1966 or something instead of directly copying 1973 from TOS. The Spanish variant they're allegedly making did that and it sounds much better as a result.

Finally got to watch the episode and it was decent. There are only 3 more eps left and I have no idea how they're going to wrap up the Russian thing in 3 episodes, 2 of which were probably mostly done prior to the announcement. That leaves us with 1 episode where they just lay everything out in a list because that's all the time they'll have. I hope not, but that's what it feels like.

also, watching the opening credits I thought to myself "why is Cousin Larry in this episode? and why do I know that actors name?" so weird.

Saw the ending coming as soon as the car started to swerve. I didn't see both getting it, though. I asked my wife, "So which one gets it?" and was startled at the result.

I'm glad that Chris was shot. You see, there are people online who think that he's the guy behind the glass who smashes the interview tapes and this finally tells them that he isn't that guy. ha, morons!

Holy crap! Thank God the show is wrapping up this season, considering
they just killed off my favourite character Ray
.

And April O'Neill (TMNT 2 & 3) is still freakin' hot.

Someone care to spill and detail what happened for a UK serieser who wants to see what they do different? I plan to watch, but I'm super curious. From what's posted so far, seems like a lot. I also re-urge everyone to try the UK series too!

-Different cultural and historical references (obviously).
-Altered soundtrack that draws more from the folk pop / rock sound.
-Character roles are changed... Hunt is more of an overseer than a scene-for-scene foil for Sam and he's more understated (but still outrageous), Carling is more prominent and inherits much of Hunt's role in TOS, Skeleton is more mousy than reserved, Annie is less spunky and charming but her the aiding aspect of her relationship with Sam is more of a focal point.
-Cars are completely unimportant.
-Much, much less drinking.
-The case that Sam is insane and not just merely in a coma experiencing strange phenomena is much more overt. This means there are plot lines like government conspiracies (with micro machines!) and god.

Oh no, I've seen much of the US series (prefer the UK one, but it was still fairly well done), I was curious how the finale is different more than anything...

Ashes to Ashes 2 starts in April..! :D

wat

Annie in 2009?

And um, I guess he just completely forgot about his old girlfriend by now?

This is quite the montage for there still being 10 odd minutes left.

:lol :lol :lol

Good lord that ending was horrible

:lol :lol :lol:lol :lol :lol:lol :lol

It only got worse as it went on!

This is the worst thing I watched on April 1, and that's saying something because I watched about a half hour of "The Room" on Adult Swim.

For the record, the only episode I've seen of the UK version was the finale.

I can't understate how much better that one was.

I should have been paying attention to this series more ... wtf is going on.

I think the most fucked up thing about all of this is that Dean Winters just got killed off of two different shows within 3 days :lol

HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN?!!?!

shit i missed it, what happened?

Sam was in a virtual reality program during a trip to Mars. There was a Wizard of Oz "You were there...and you were there!" moment with the crew. Somebody mentioned that they were looking for proof of genetic memory on Mars and used the phrase "Gene Hunt." Sam's VR program malfunctioned and put him on the wrong year. They mentioned president Obama and her sister visiting their sick father.

I could go on, but I hurt. I'm not going to put any of that into a coherent story, the fucking people in charge of the show didn't bother so why should I?

It was a fake reality. The whole cast, all the main players, were on a space trip to mars. All of Sam's "life" was a simulated reality simply to bide time time between the years it took for them to get to mars.

If this show had gone on for years and ended like that, I'd be livid right now.

Right now though, I'm just confused. It all makes sense and yet...it's so unfulfilling. I don't know what to think.

I think I'm just bothered by how Sam's life never really meant anything (particularly how he jsut gave up on his 08 life completely) and you're suddenly just introduced to the same characters, but with a history you don't know at all [but they instantly recognize eachother]....it's just so fucking weird and unnatural.
